Jaina Solo - #56 Fans' Choice Poll Winner

From yakface "TFA Luke, Hera, Starkiller, Grievous, Gamorrean Guard, Lando (Bespin) and Cad Bane have the top spots" https://twitter.com/yak_face

Which is strange since
TFA Luke and Hera are already confirmed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsL2yGduHkY&feature=youtu.be&t=1379 (23:00-25:30)

I like that he mentions that the Tie sold well enough for them to pursue other vehicles :) right after the above mentioned.

According to Yakface here are the leaders (from his site):

1) TFA Luke
2) Hera
3) Starkiller
4) Grievous
5) Gamorrean Guard
6) Lando (Bespin)
7) Cad Bane

Out of those 7, only 2 aren't rumored to be already in production.
If TFA Luke wins, or even takes a slot, it'll show how truly ignorant the fanbase is.

Grievous would be great because if i remember correctly, they've mentioned that he's unfeasible to make it into a figure so this may be the only way we get him. I'm all for making our favorites but if we have a chance to get one they don't plan on making, i'm all for THAT.

I knew about TFA Luke and Hera, which other ones are rumored to be in prodution?

Missed opportunity, to say the least ..

Ehhhh. I think there's a danger of taking these fans' choice polls too seriously. Ultimately if the majority of TBS collectors want TFA Luke, and as a result of this poll they get TFA Luke - regardless of whether or not it was already being worked on - is that really such a bad thing? I mean, all those people who voted for it are going to be happy they're getting it, right?

Honestly, I think the biggest problem is that no one knows the purpose or breadth of this line anymore. Is it supposed to be key characters with iconic looks, like the first couple of waves? Or is it a more traditional 'completionist' line where in the space of a year we get Finn with both his movie looks, Poe with both of his, almost every costume variation for Luke, FO Snowtroopers and officers who barely appear in the movie, Zuvios that don't feature at all and a probably unnecessary Chewie re-release? All while not getting what should be obvious entries to have at least one iconic look like C-3PO, Lando and Padme.

People shouldn't have to vote to get Lando or Padme, but if it's the only way to get them within ~1 year then why not?

No one knows whether to vote for actual fan favourites or for preferred obscure characters but the line as released has done a really confusing job of forecasting what's to come.

Personally, I want to vote for Wedge as he's my favourite character and (you'd have thought) a little outside the scope of what's meant to be a more iconic line. But I don't want to waste my vote on what would basically be a re-release with a new head and a slightly different paint job. Even more so because while the character doesn't seem to fit the line, the precedent of re-painted clones, stormtroopers, R2s and re-used heads suggests that a slight re-model figure might fit the economics of the line and actually get made after all.

Can I drum up any support for Ackbar?

Wedge in his snowspeeder outfit and helmet would be awesome.

I do agree these polls are interesting to say the least, and while Revan was an unexpected choice last year, I was hoping the fandom could steer the boat a little clear of another rebels choice this year. Unfortunately, I don't think that will happen. But, like last year, Snowtrooper, and Obi-wan were also part of the final choices, and although they weren't selected in the final straw poll, they are being made. Grievous, I believe is rumored to be coming down the pipes, and maybe we will see him revealed at comic-con. I also think it's a given that Lando will come out in the next year or two..

I guess, there are not enough old timers out there voting for cantina or jabba palace aliens anymore. Who knows how long it will take to get some of those. It would be nice to eventually see a Momaw Nadon, Ponda Baba, Teesek, or Bib Fortuna...

I guess, sometime in the far distant future. I also think the black series popularity has evolved beyond the core characters at this point. I think it's a given they will venture out beyond just the "core".

Well to me I think a wave should have a character from one of each of the movies/cartoons you know some kind of order. But I guess that word be too $$$ for Hasbro, I have stopped collecting the TBS figures but when I did there was no order to the line. It jumped all over, like we have most of the Bounty Hunters except Denger,4-LOM and Zuckuss. They should have been gotten the rest of the guys on the pegs, and finished the rest of the Imperial Troopers as well! Like a Death Star Gunner with that iconic helmet and 1st Order heavy gunner trooper, like most of us my list goes on forever and good luck on the figure you voted for and my the pegs always be stocked!

Grievous has been shown to exist on internal Hasbro documents & completed (but the rumor mill suggest he is not economically feasible at a $20 price point).

Lando & the Gamorrean Guard were both finalists on last year's poll, so they've definitely "blipped" on Hasbro's radar. Chances are they're coming at some point.

Starkiller is EU, so he will never get made unless placed 1st. Same story w/ Cad Bane, except he's a tertiary canon character.

I don't know how true this rumor was from a while back, but supposedly Cad Bane is in Rogue One. Lego did offer a small hint that maybe Boba Fett was in the film when they teased their Rogue One promo last year at the Nuremburg Toy Fair and Boba Fett's Slave 1 was in the photo, but after seeing the first release of Lego sets, Boba Fett nor the rest of the Bounty Hunters are to be found.

But if this is true, maybe we will see Cad Bane, Zuckuss, 4Lom, and Dengar in the Rogue One lineup, so maybe some of those characters will finally get their likeness put to 6" form. Maybe.. but the rumors that they are in the film are pretty thin at this point, and i'm not sure how accurate it is. I'm hopeful though. I'd like to see all the Empire bounty hunters, as well as Cad Bane made sooner rather than later.

Rumor has it that Mads Mikkelsen may be playing Starkiller in Rogue One. If true, yes he'll be an older version not matching the video game likeness of Sam Witwer, but he won't be EU anymore. Guess we'll find out in Dec.

While I'd absolutely love that, all they share is the same first name, Galen. Other than that, there's no connection between the two characters.

Oh, yes, I specified the Senator outfit from AOTC too.

Nice to see the EDIT function is still absent.

Disagree. If TFA Luke wins, it will illustrate what a FAILURE Hasbro's communication with the fanbase has truly been.

For all of the whining that occurred when Hasbro was conducting their regular Q&A sessions with fan sites, they were keeping fans engaged and informed through that process. Now? Real news and information is even harder to come by. I get the concept of trying to keep some secrets for the benefit of the films. But there's a way to roll out information about licensed product that will not serve as spoilers. The current air of secrecy about almost everything has been overkill. And that has led to situations like the one you mentioned.

I voted for Exar Kun, because you know they will NEVER make him!!!!

First part, I disagree. The latter, I absolutely concur!

TFA Luke has been confirmed by Hasbro (as an imminent release figure), just because he's not out, doesn't make him nonexistent. Most knowledgeable fans know he'll be produced/released soon, it's an issue of being patient. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro is holding off on TFA Luke until Ep. VIII. Considering how he'll be a prominent character & probably w/o a costume change from TFA.

That's my thoughts as well. Luke is almost guaranteed to be in the first wave of the Force Awakens Episode 8 Black Series line. I think the reason we haven't seen him, or Leia is because they are going to be prominent in the upcoming movie. Really, other than Unkar Plutt, Maz, Taso Leech, and Bala Tik, most of the most prominent characters in the Force Awakens have already been made.

Eh, I vote for Legends characters as they have NO chance without these polls. Can't believe people are voting for TFA Luke. Obviously that character/figure will make it to market without a Fans Choice poll. Based on those Yakface results I'd take Starkiller. Matter of fact they only 6" figures I would buy from this point forward would be Starkiller or Darth Bane.

I hear what you're saying but... we should have no such confidence in Hasbro right now about any character. Its been what, 9 months since the first TFA stuff hit shelves and we still are without a 6" C-3PO, General Leia, Maz Kanata, or LUKE!!! Yet all of us have seen more than our share of Constable Zuvio and Guavian Enforcers. So I don't think any of us should assume anything and vote for what we really want. And its obvious everyone wants a TFA Luke Skywalker. I don't see a point in wasting my vote or a character that's my 10th choice because I hope Hasbro might eventually make the first 9.

I agree with you to an extent. The way I see it, there are some characters that are GOING to get made (Lando, for instance.) On the other hand, with characters like that not in the line at all, the chances of them making say, a 6" Jocasta Nu, are all but nil. It's not like I can happily displace Ice Cream Maker guy next to my Boushh, R2, and friggin Red-arm-monstrosity Threepio. In the end, I went with Maz Kanata. Fun character with solid screentime, but if she's anywhere on the immediate horizon, I'd be surprised. (The obvious exception being, of course, if she has a substantially larger role in Episode VIII, in which case, I've just wasted my vote.)

But why hold off on Luke at all? Why not take advantage of the past excitement over the film's release and then video release? I think I know the answer - Hasbro knows we want Luke & Leia & C-3P0 and that we'll buy those and Nunb & Ackbar later more than likely. So we get pushed on us Zuvio, etc... But we are only months away from RO merch hitting the market. And I've heard that Luke's outfit has changed for Ep VIII. That may only be "rumor" too but if its not, how stupid is that??? To finally issue Ep VII Luke when a newer version is soon to be revealed. And which "rumors" do we hang our hats on? I've heard Yakface is coming in the 3.75" line for years. If they were doing a better job with the 3.75" line, I don't think there would be quite as much fuss over the 6" line. But it does seem to feel like the 6" line is being treated like the old 3.75" line was, except you only get 3 new figures in a wave, and the SA 3.75" line is now looking like what we thought the new 6" line was to be. All that said, the poll is showing that Hasbro is not in touch with the fans this line is supposed to be for. And too many are leaving hasbro for other companies who want to do better. So if they want to keep playing games, they will loose.

And my point exactly. Why would Maz be a character we shouldn't already have in the line? Why should she be a surprise at this point? Is Ep VIII that void of new characters and costume changes that they can't produce half of TFA's figures so they'll have something to put out next year? If the past shows us anything, SW never makes that mistake. Maz is a great vote. Who cares.

I say patience! Yes, Zuvio was perhaps the biggest mistake from last year, but they released 21 different Force Awakens 6" figures so far and I think they did a decent job on the variety of figures they offered. They have covered a majority of the major characters. Only Zuvio would be one i'd call a "mistake". Almost all the main character designs for the First Order were made out of those 21 figures. The only omission is Snoke (and maybe they are saving him for Episode 8 too).

I also think the case distribution for the 6" Force Awakens Black Series figures were pretty darn good when I look back at it. It was much more thought out, and solid, than what they did with the 3.75 5POA line.

I would imagine any EU character that makes it into the final nomination slots will win again this year.
Unless... 2 EU characters are nominated & it splits the vote. Kinda like Lando, Ben Kenobi, Snowtrooper, & the Gamorrean Guard all split the "OT vote" last year.

This year no EU character will make it to the finals... votes are in for TFA Luke and Rebels crew...

But if Luke & Hera are already in process of being made which sounds like the case, then its reasonable to believe Hasbro would say that and award the next character in line. Which could be Starkiller, unfortunately. I enjoyed playing the games but it doesn't seem like SW is embracing those story lines anymore. And it seems like many of the top votes from the last poll are now becoming reality so I think any of the top vote getters speak to Hasbro.

I voted for my avatar, cause I'm a fan and that's my choice. I know it'll never happen but oh well.

I voted for Darth Plagueis, an upscaled version of the 3.75" Black Series release. I'd be down for a Darth Bane as well, pre-Disney EU change. All my interests are pre-Disney versions of characters. There are a number of OT characters and a few more PT clone versions I'd be interested in, and many EU characters.
I can understand someone's desire for a Luke or Lando, even when it may seem like it's going to come anyway. "Having" to wait a year or two for Hasbro to get around to catching up to what fans think are obvious choices can be frustrating, just like wanting figures from story lines declared non canonical can be. Everybody has their own focus and there are no wrong answers, just less sensible ones, depending on your point of view.
He's coming anyway, why waste a vote?
He doesn't exist anymore, why waste a vote?
It's all personal preference and can make for revealing viewpoints, but the negativity surrounding last year's voting soured some of the fun of the experience for me. I hope there is more civility this time around.
