Rebelscum have posted that we might be seeing a "Jabba's Rancor Pit" multipack soon as it has appeared in the UK TRU system for £129.99 ($220 USD). No further information is available at this time.

Any ideas on what this pack will include? Rancor? Luke? Malakili? Gamorrean Guards? Jabba?

My guess is Rancor, Luke, Gammy, and some environment pieces. 130.00, though... Ouch. I'd like to see at least a couple of new figures - the guy whose gun Luke steals prior to falling into the pit, maybe? Plenty of palace denizens to still do that could be packed in. Would be cool if denizens were packed at the top of the box, leaning over the trap door, watching the Rancor eat....

For $220 it better includes the whole throne room (Jabba, dais, roast pit, Han in carbonite, some gammies, and 3-4 new thugs including a Jawa fanning Jabba) with an opening door in the floor down to the dungeon, then in the dungeon, Rancor, Malakili, Giran, Luke, several bones, a gammy and that gate that kills the Rancor and last but not least a new Skiff (new bigger sculpt)

I like your thinking but like me you probably think this is highly unlikely given their track record but I would be happy to be wrong. I also think that Hasbro would be extremely foolish to not have a significant degree of newness otherwise it is going to rot like crazy and then we'll get blamed for lack of interest.

Due to the price points on these sets it makes it difficult to try & figure out what these sets will include. The one issue with these will be that many collectors will feel that they are not getting enough (of anything new) for their money. One reason Ifor this would be because they are TRU exclusives. If any of these 3 sets were Target or Walmart Exclusives, I think it would be a fair guess to say that these would be approx 25-30% lower.

I do have one idea what these sets might be. These could be Hasbro's answer to us begin for dioramas/playsets for so long. I would guess that each set may possibly have, say..... 1 new figure, but that would be probably be IT in terms of new figures. They may have a few repaints in their also, but I can't see them throwing in more than 1, maaaaaaybe 2 new figs, but everything else will be repacks. For example, If the Rancor and/or Jabba will be in this set, they would simply be repacks of the same ones from over the past few years.

Hasbro has always said that "Playsets" would cost too much to make and that they would have to sell at a very high price in order to make them work. Thus, I believe the majority of the cost of these sets will be going towards the "Playset" or "diorama" etc.

Thats just one guess though. I'm sure we all have ideas of what they may be.

$220 usd?? Is that even reasonable for TRUs pricepoints? I'm more inclined to believe its 130 dollars and 130 pounds, just like Lego does, with its unfair conversion rates. It sounds more like TRU to hose its EU customers instead of taking on a destined for clearance 220 price point in the us.

Regardless of how this all shakes out, unless theres a ton of new stuff a lot of fans will pass. Heck, the last $50 Rancor exlusive at Target took awhile to sell through. Im not willing to rebuy a lot of stuff I already own just to get a few new bits.

$220.00?

For what I can only imagine will be a rancor, a Luke and a Pig-Guard? And how many will be repacks? I could use another guard, but geez, over two-hundred bucks?

Seriously?

Couldn't we almost buy our own ship (like a BMF) for that? Maybe we'll see a new rancor keeper?

I won't be $220.00. Unless it's an everything pack. Let's price that out, just for fun:

  • Jabba and his dais: $40
  • Rancor: $60
  • Some environmental piece (a gate with the throne room above it?): $30
  • Then... 8-10 figures and some unique accessories: $90

Also, nobody (at Hasbro) cares if you already have everything in this potential set. There's always new people coming in, or people coming back, or people who missed an item the first time around (for whatever reason) or kids with rich gift buyers.

The prices on these new sets are Jack Crazy.

I hear this new rancor pack is going to cost 200 bucks. It better serve beer or something if it's going to be that expensive

I was late to the party in realising how great collecting all Jabba's goons were, so I missed the Rancor and Jabba last time they were out (and ebay mark up prices are too much for me). I might be in a small minority, but I'm very excited for this set now! Although I should just wait and see what it includes first and not get my hopes up...

This needs to be put into perspective. The prices outside the US are always higher or the same numbers, but in a different currency. The upcoming 6" deluxe sets will probably sell for 60 Euros retail in Germany. 1 Euro= $1.36, so we will be paying about $81.60 for a deluxe 6" speeder bike with biker scout.

Using that pound price, I'd be looking at about 160 Euros for the Jabba set. I think when the Falcon came out in 2008 the BMF was going for 150 Euros here and around $100 in the US, so you can see the mark-up there.

I'd say there is a possibility that the US price might be around $100, which could mean Jabba and dais plus the rancor and maybe an extra figure or two.

Theres no way this will sell for $220 in the US unless part of Jabba's palace comes with it. Just ain't gonna happen.

why do so many people think this is a $220 set?
There is NO suggestion this is $220!

"In addition to the previously revealed Toys R Us Exclusive 3 3/4" 'Battle of Endor' Multipack, Rebelscum reports two more sets in TRU's UK system; 'Cantina Showdown' [£39.99 ($67 USD] and 'Jabba's Rancor Pit' [£129.99 ($220 USD)]; the Battle of Endor' set is listed at £99.99 price tag ($168 USD)."
(Source: Rebelscum)

This is the source of the confusion. Some sites re-reporting this are leaving out the £ figure entirely, and that it is from a UK ToysRUs computer. Not everyone is going to research this in depth, and the $220 figure does stand out as being ridiculous, even for the UK.

That would be the prices if it the UK actually sold Star wars items at converted US prices.
Here in old Blighty, for those who aren't aware, If a Figure sells for $10.99 in the US, the same figure will be on shelves (if we're lucky) for £10.99 in the UK. Basicaly read £ as $.

Unless the Rebelscum source is privvy to other information, The above should more likely be read as;
'Cantina Showdown' $39.99
'Jabba's Rancor Pit' $129.99
'The Battle of Endor' $99.99

If the price is in fact $220, I truly hope that there aren't any unique figures in the set, as I, and I suspect many others, cannot justify or afford to spend that much money for a single figure. If that ends up being the case, Hasbro is really putting themselves in the position that Playmates did back in the late 1990s with the 1701 series figures and the impossible to find Target exclusive figures.

I think you're right about this. A $220 price simply makes no sense in the U.S. They price according to the national market, so converting pounds to dollars isn't the proper method for determine the price here.

You trans-Atlantic folks need to stop getting your knickers in a twist. It's just that for once the news is fresh out of a UK computer versus the usual US one. The pricing rip-off scandal has been the same since day one in 1995. Move along, move along.

This is one of those sets I should be a buyer of. I love jabbas palace but I have a gammo, Luke and giran so there really needs to be a good hook for me and a new rancor keeper is not going to get it done. Fingers crossed there is something awesome here

For $330 I would certainly want a new Rancor Keeper!

This set will be as "new" as the Endor set. A chance to get the Rancor if you missed it is all it will be good for. All with slightly different paint. Just a guess.

So.....that makes it $495, right? Sheesh! Better have an in-scale full palace in there!

Hey, if it means getting an actual Jabba's Palace playset. I'm in!

For $330 I would certainly want a new Rancor Keeper!
And honestly, if there's going to be something new in it. It better not be a "that guy"! lol I'd rather they include a new figure of some one else, such as one of the Goons! Also don't forget Oola repack, can never have too many half naked Twi'leks!

In order for this to work, you at least need the rancor, luke and perhaps the gamorrean. If they are going to have some sort of trap door, perhaps they might also include jabba with his throne. I honestly can't imagine what could be included as far as a playset. Obviously the price point shows that it is more than just the rancor, jabba and a handful of figures but I can really picture a playset looking really great after the last few tacky ones we got. I hope to be proven wrong.

Why is everyone talking about a new rancor keeper? We got an updated Malakili just a few years back (which surprised me then, since 1997 Malakili was PotF2's biggest pegwarmer). He's fine. Giran's been done too, and he's perfect. Who else is there? My wager is we'll see an overpriced repacking of Luke, a Gamorrean, Malakili, Giran, and the Rancor.

When you say "everyone", do you mean 1 person ;)
