Just wondering if anyone here also collects Inspector Gadget. If you do, what figures do you own? I've just recently completed the figures from the Tiger Toy line. I recently bought the Dr. Claw figure, but kept it in the package. The only one I'm missing is the Gadget Mobile. I had it when I was a kid but I remember a wheel fell off and my Dad super-glued it back on, I lost a piece off the front and the little mirror on the side fell off. Sadly I have no idea what I did with it. I also have the full Burger King set, which I think is a great set. I also collect a few PVC figures here and there.

Here is my collection.

I used to, but I only had the Tiger ones. I resold most of them, but kept the unique characters and the grey-garbed Gadget with the hat gimmick. I also "fixed" my Dr. Claw:

Because, dang it, he should've had two giant gauntlets.

Well, for starters, in the cartoon, he had two big metal gauntlets. The action figure had one big metal gauntlet and one brown leather glove. But Tiger got the go-ahead to design his look, and what they came up with is now considered official. It even made an appearance in an IG video game. And he looks like a cross between Vincent Price and Colonel Sanders, with a half-melted face.

Hey Beedo that's pretty cool, love the second gauntlet. That's the way it should be! I like the mask too, pretty clever. What I wanted to do originally was find a small chair and put my Dr. Claw figure in and turn him around, like in the show. Instead I just opted to keep him in the package. It's cool we got a Dr. Claw figure, but I really liked the mystery behind him. I remember that IG game, it was for the Super Nintendo. There weren't many figure releases, I should have just kept everything in the package. I say that too because of all the little gadget accessories. That's what that bag is for.

The only issue I have with the Tiger Toys line is every figure had just one gadget. For example, one figure had the snap open hat, another figure had the extending neck, another had extending legs, etc. At least with the Burger King line, yeah you had Copter Gadget, Inflated Gadget, etc, but at least those figures also had extending legs and neck. It would have been cool if the Tiger Toys IG line had extending arms, legs and neck, and had a "main" gadget to go with it. Regardless, I still think its a great line of figures.

I had most of these when I was a kid. I bought them again off ebay because mine had scuff marks on them and missing parts. They were still in the package, it was all the Gadget figures and Penny & Brain for a buy it now of $60! With the extras I had, I put them on ebay, figuring I'd get like 20 bucks for them. They were 2 or 3 figures from the Tiger line, an extra Penny & Brain set (in package), and a few from the Burger King set (as I bought those again as well). Even though they were nowhere near collectible condition, they went for $150! The last day the auction sky-rocketed. Afterwards I bought the MAD Agent and Dr. Claw figure separately.

My favorite definitely is the original, gray trenchcoat (snap open hat). I like the Gadget arms, legs and neck too. The Copter Gadget is cool. I can definitely do without the swimming Gadget, it had the yellow trenchcoat and was soft (it had water based Gadgets). Surfer Gadget was "meh", and Fumble Gadget reminded me of the Crash Dummies haha.

A cool toy line overall. I'm a big fan of the show so it's awesome to have the collection complete (minus the Gadget Mobile). One day... or as Dr. Claw says, "Next time Gadget!!" Sorry, couldn't resist lol.

Thank 'e, GL1! That's just Sculpey and paint. Easily replicated. I made a Lego chair and desk for him, but no knees made it kind of awkward. I was thinking of kit-bashing the extending arms and legs from the others onto Hat Trick Gadget, but decided against it.

Never knew they had a Gadgetmobile. Sounds freakin' sweet.

Y'know, this is a property that definitely needs revisiting. With better-articulated figures and vehicles.

And it was Frank Welker doing Dr. Claw that started me onto seriously working on cartoon voices. Go, Frank!

That's awesome. Frank Welker's the man. I hope he's in the new IG series to voice Dr. Claw.

This line definitely needs a reboot. I'd love to see more articulation. They're starting to do it with the Mario Bros. figures (another line I collect). Maybe with the new IG series next year they'll (hopefully) look into it.

The Gadget Mobile was awesome! It was a two-in-one vehicle. It started out as the basic van. It had the claw-grabber in the front. The van could extend and you could flip the back part of the van over and it would resemble his police cruiser. When extended, it also had POLICE on each side. A very cool addition to the line. I'll link you up.

Inspector Gadget

Apparently there was also a prototype Tank Gadget. I saw it and was like "Really?" lol.

I actually found out there was another version of the Gadget Mobile released, as well as the MAD Mobile. Now I really want these!

INSPECTOR GADGET COLLECTION - Ozformers Transformers Collectors Australia

I also recommend the large Gadget figure by Galoob (it's to the right in my photo). It can get a bit pricey though. I have no idea how I missed out on that as a kid. It's one of the best collectibles I own. The trenchcoat is cloth and can be removable. He has extending arms, legs and neck, although 1 arm shoots out like a missile. He comes with numerous accessories, or gadgets: copter, handcuffs, mallet, arm, umbrella. It's really a great figure. There were 2 versions made. The first one, which I own, his arms have no articulation and are straight. The second, his arms have articulation in the elbows. The Gadget Copter was also fixed, so in the second release his arms are more relaxed when holding the handle bars, rather then on mine where the arms are just flat out straight.

Wow, those are nifty!

Sadly, I think my collecting days are mostly behind me. I'm seeing MOTUC through to the end, and then I think that's it. I may start selling large swathes of things off next year, too. >Sigh.<

Man, I'd love it if we were able to get a new Inspector Gadget figure. Hyper articulated with parts to swap out for his gadgets.

I would love this as well. Definitely long overdue. As I said earlier, with a new Gadget show coming early next year, hopefully they revisit the idea.

They should base it on the large figure from the 80's. They should also get the colors right! Every Gadget figure I've seen has the wrong colors. His trenchcoat and shoes are a light gray, while his hat is dark gray, with the stripe in the middle of his hat a light gray, matching his trenchcoat. The closest that got it right was the one from the Tiger Toy line. They just screwed up the hat.

Make the trenchcoat removable. Have the usual gadgets: extending neck, arms and legs. Numerous hat gadgets: 'brella, copter (a must!), extra hand, magnifying glass, siren, mallet. Maybe throw in a few other gadgets as well: roller skates and skis that can be attached to the bottom of the shoes, handcuffs, and maybe binoculars.

Is that asking to much? Eh, maybe. But it would be one hell of an awesome figure haha.

Used to watch Inspector Gadget when it was on early mornings before school back in the '80's. Though I was aware of the large doll/figure that came out back in the day, I had no idea there was an actual line of figures from the show - very nice.

Thing that annoyed me about the Inspector Gadget series from the 80s what it didn't mention how Gadget became bionic.was there ever a pilot episode?Like other DIC shows back then they never have a back story.Though it came out in 1993 the Saturday morning version of Sonic The Hedgehog had that problem.

There were a lot of things unexplained in the original IG, such as how Gadget became bionic, Penny's parents, and Dr. Claw's face (only if you don't count the toy from Tiger Toys and the SNES game). The pilot episode was "Winter Olympics" where Gadget has a mustache. No backstory, they basically just jumped right into the show.

The only time it was explained how Gadget became bionic was I believe a trading card game. It said Gadget was chasing someone (I believe a MAD Agent), slipped on a banana peel and fell down a flight of stairs. If we're talking in-show, then no it was never explained.

Sorry to bump this but I didn't see the harm as it was still on the first page. I finally won the last piece to my collection - the Gadget Mobile! I'm so happy to add the final piece to my collection. The Tiger Toys line is now complete. Its a bittersweet feeling, really. I'm happy my collection is complete, but at the same time I won't have that "thrill of the hunt" to get anything else. There's still a few random PVC figures I wouldn't mind getting, but the ones I've been after, the main items I've been looking for I now have.

There are some marks on this, its not in perfect condition, but it beats the one I had as a kid, mine had a few missing pieces.

The Gadget Van. Note the claw grabber in the front. Awesome.

There were so many things wrong with the movie lol. Seems like everything I liked as a kid - Mario, Inspector Gadget, gets made into a terrible movie haha. I did get a laugh out of Don Adams' cameo at the end.

But anyway, I used to have the Gadget Mobile as a kid but lost it at some point. I have no idea what I did with it, so it was great to win this. Mine had a ton of missing pieces as well - it was missing the steering wheel, the mirror on the side came off, I lost one of the little white pieces to the van when it transforms into the police car, also a wheel came off that I superglued on. It was a total mess lol.

Has anyone watched the new series on Netflix? I'm only 4 episodes in, its pretty decent. There's a few references to the original series, such as the exploding messages. In the first episode when they bring Gadget out of retirement, they give him a "new outfit" which is basically the same trenchcoat he had in the original series (it might be like an inch shorter). In fact, you can see the original trenchcoat in the background in one of the shots. Later, Gadget gets a new Gadget Mobile. The original makes an appearance, and Gadget asks why can't he use the old one. He's told its out of date, he proceeds to open the door and says it just needs a touch-up, to which the car crumbles to a pile of dust. He dusts his hands off and says "New Gadget Mobile it is!" lol.

I heard its been renewed for a second season. I'm happy, but I don't think it'll be as popular as the original. Again, I'm only 4 episodes in but so far no sign of Capeman yet.

Was a mild fan of the IG cartoon back in the '80's, but haven't seen it for close to 30 years.

Thanks for the info. about the new IG Netflix cartoon, though. Wasn't aware of this. It looks like the animation is more CGI-ish, which I don't like that much. However, I'll probably check out at least the first episode at some point.

I have a new setup for my Gadget collection, as I moved into my (first) home in April of 2018. I ordered these corner curved shelves from Home Depot and they are great! I might rearrange a few shelves so they aren't so cluttered but this is the main setup.

I don't see it posted here, but at SDCC 2019 Blitzway debuted a line of 1/12 Inspector Gadget figures: Gadget, Penny, Brain and Quimby:

I remember seeing these last year! I've been excited for these, but do we have price and availability on them? Since last year I've heard nothing.

Those look great, but I can't afford that kind of outlay right now. Here's hoping they eventually make a Doctor Claw that's that good.

The Gadget figures from Blitzway have an ETA of this month but still no word from BBTS as of yet. I'm just eagerly awaiting them, seeing all the gadgets they are including is getting me excited. I have a NECA stand so I might display Gadget with the copter.

Here's a little side project I did. I didn't want to make a new thread just for this one thing. Never thought I'd do an Inspector Gadget custom! Granted its a repaint but I'm quite pleased with how it came out. I took a figure from a Burger King Kids Meal from 1991 and repainted it to match the cartoon. I didn't hate the black coat but I was curious to see how it would come out. This is Inflated Gadget, one of 4 "Gizmos" included. I even painted the neck and leg extensions silver.

NICE! Looks spot-on, mate!

Thanks! I remember when I was younger saying to myself, something like "why can't they make it accurate" or "why is his coat black?" something along those lines. Now, years later after having experience painting I finally have an accurate figure. It came out better than I thought. I might go back and do the same thing to the BK Copter Gadget, but that one has minor differences so I'm not sure if I would even want to bother.

Although while painting this figure, I did realize I could make a couple of different gadgets as the figures from BK have a hole in the hat. I could make a couple of extensions with a hand attached, maybe a siren, hammer, magnifying glass, etc. I just have to find something thin enough to fit, maybe even thinner than a straw. I'll see what I can come up with.

Sounds great! I'd love to see what you come up with, mate!

I was looking for some type of rod that would be able to fit in the hat. At first I thought of a rod from the old K'nex sets but they look like they would be a bit too big. I might try these pipe cleaners, but cut off the brush part and cut the rods into smaller pieces. They look like they are bendable too so that would really help.

I went to Michael's Craft Store tonight just to see if I could find anything before buying on ebay. Luckily I found these within 10 minutes of the store closing. I already threw the tag out for trash day so I forgot the actual name but they are similar to pipe cleaners. They are frizzy and the metal piece is bendable. I bought the beads from Target next door, as the rods that come out of his hat have these ball-like parts, I guess to connect them. Unfortunately the holes on the beads are a tad big so I'll try to mess with those later. The best part was this stuff cost me no more than 5 bucks total.

134184640_319666602607744_8910925805526628576_n.jpg 93-939023_inspector-gadget-bust-inspecteur-gadgets.png

This is what I came up with so far. I cut off a small enough piece I needed, removed the frizzy stuff, folded one end so it can fit snugly in the hat, and repainted the hand which was from my parts bin. I also drilled a hole in the hand, and put a bit of tacky material to tighten it up. I used Copter Gadget as the base figure, as that is the most standard/basic figure from the BK line, as the others were Scuba, Inflated and Wind Surfer Gadget. Other gadgets I'd like to do are another hand, hammer, magnifying glass, possibly a siren and skates for the shoes.

NICE! Very inventive!

Thanks! Pretty fun to come up with something like this. Despite still working from home since the end of last March, I've gotten pretty creative but I guess that also happens when your job is extremely slow lol.

I was able to add an extra hand today. Same method as before, but if the first hand is in the hat I don't have to fold a part of the bendable piece. I also gave the arms a quick paint job with some silver.

That's all for now. I ordered a GI Joe hammer accessory so I'll be waiting for that. For the magnifying glass I'm thinking of just using one from Lego.

The GI Joe hammer accessory came in today. I repainted it brown with both flat sides a lighter brown to match it from the show.
