I've been thinking about the potential of new entertainment. I would be OK with Indy 5, as a finale for Ford, but story wise, it'd Like it set a year or two before KOTCS, as I think Indy's marriage ties the series off nicely, and the new film, if set after, has the baggage of Marion,(not so bad), and Mutt, (whom I care not to see again...)
So, one more shout out with Harrison, then perhaps go back and fill in the early Indy years... recast. It's been a long while since The Young Indy Chronicles, and though I wasn't a fan. I accepted both actors, ESP Flannery, in the role. Old Indy never counted...
On the other hand, maybe... Disney may through that continuity away. Still, if it didn't..there where episodes planned to lead up to the point Indy becomes an archaeologist ...if I Recall, The Pea***** diamond?.. showed this; and then the McGregor books picked up. So... Indy from the mid 20's, a younger actor, and they can tell 3 or so more stories, ditching the novels, and showing his earliest career. Stories with his first relationships with Brody, Oxley, Forestall, Ravenswood, Marion, Sallah, Belloq etc.... not just for the sake of it... the films would have to be story orientated, but there are a few gaps in the chronology to explore... or Disney could start from scratch... but I would rather it be a younger Indy we can grow to know, then replace Harrison during the time period all ready covered...
If not...bring on some more books... the last was awful. There's a lot of stories between LC an KOTCS.

Is it bad that I want an Indy 5 with Ford mainly so we can get some more Hasbro figures of the first 3 films? I've always wanted Indy 5 - The Apology for Crystal Skull, even though a lot of people have complained against it elsewhere on the internet. Heck, I still really hope that the rumor of Ford insisting on 2 more Indy films as part of his Ep7 contract is true! I know they will recast the role one day, but really they should give Ford a few more films while we still have him available. Personally I think KOTCS's biggest stumbling block was George Lucas, and I think I'd love to see 2 more Indy films with just Ford, Spielberg, and of course John Williams while we still have them. They have the rest of eternity to do remakes and recasts, we only have these Legends with us on borrowed time.

Besides, recasting the role makes it a possibility that Disney might want to focus the collectibles on the newest film, and might shy away from doing the Ford films for awhile. I really, really want a few more Hasbro waves of ROTLA, TOD, and especially LC. Heck, I'd even take one more wave of KOTCS if it were part of the bargain!

I reckon any toy company would be extremely cautious with future Indy figures, with or without a theatrical release to push it. I don't think they would go much beyond Indy himself next time.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if Hasbro just dusted off the old molds and did a few gift sets of the older figures. Best case scenario then would be if they threw in a new figure or two.

maybe be but I bet they only release Indy. I can't see them putting out and secondary characters. There really isn't the market for it!

I'd love to see Chris Pratt as a younger Indy, with Harrison Ford bookending the film telling his class ful of students about an adventure. Of course he'd be saying it was all danger free and by the book, but the first frame of the flashback would show otherwise. lol

There's a gap between the end of the TV series and the films' I'd rather see truly love the McGregor books, but if Disney wanted to go forward, make them legends, and go back to a 20 something Indy. The series was written and leading up to the Ravenswood/Marion and Belloq intro's...so show Indy at learning age. Young actor, Pratt is just no choice a far as continuity's concern, imo.
Much better to have a gap in the series of quiet a Few years..... anyway, just an opinion.

Another question, something I noticed watching Raiders last night, was in the submarine pen the German Soldier escorting Marion is heavily bandaged, arm In a sling, wrapped under his hat...never noticed this before. Wonder if he was a truck soldier?... or perhaps Belloq's driver?.... amusing in any case.

I'd like to see a 5th Indy film. I liked KOTCS & thought it was extremely underrated. That being said, they'd better make a 5th Indy film soon because HF isn't getting any younger.

I also agree that a 5th Indy film would also open the door for more figures from the first three films. I am still disappointed that I couldn't find the extremely rare TOD wave years ago, and I completely missed the exclusive 2nd ROTLA wave when it was at a convention years ago. Still keeping my fingers crossed that these figures will be re-released at some point, but I don't see that there's a chance this will ever happen - unless there's either a 5th Indy film, a new TV series/cartoon, etc.

If it takes any cues from the current Hasbro Star Wars line, we may only see super-articulated 6" figures, and perhaps a few 5 POA 3 3/4" figures. And likely only a small number of main characters from the current movie. I think the days of holding out hope for figures of obscure characters in "boring suits" (Donovan, Brody, etc) are behind us.

But we can still hope!

Yes, now with the news of a 5th IJ confirmed, hopefully that will mean we'll get more IJ figures/vehicles from the original three films - ROTLA, TOD, and LC. The short-lived line that came out in 2008 was better than nothing, but there were still a lot of toys that they could have come out with - but didn't due to poor sales/the cancellation of the line, etc.

Hopefully they won't make the same mistakes this time around that they made back in '08 - for one thing, they shouldn't over-produce these toys. For another, we need to see more diversity re: the IJ characters - and not just several versions of IJ.

I've been looking at these figures in eBay and really contemplating buying them but only if I can get them all fairly easily without major hassle or crazy expense. Anyone know the feasibility of this? Are they worth it?

If you are willing to gamble there is a seller on Amazon that sells packs of IJ figures (as cake top decorations)
Warning at least 1 figure will be an unwanted Star Wars figure, But you can end up with some hard to find ones too.

I have 0 interest in trying to navigate Ebay re: the IJ figures I do want, which are: The extremely HTF TOD wave, as well as the 2nd ROTLA wave - which IIRC was only available at a convention several years back. Since you're buying from individuals (and not stores) on Ebay, I have no way of knowing whether the condition is good, etc.

If they either re-release these figures or release new versions of these figures to promote the 5th IJ film in 2019, great. If not, I guess I won't get them. I don't need them that badly.

I'd be all over some Black Series 6" style Indy figures!

I was thinking they might do this. But I doubt it would be secondary characters, I honestly dont think they would touch the extended cast ever again. But we may see some stuff of Indiana himself, I really hope so. Some 6" figures would be good? Maybe a 2019 Indy and a Raiders Indy? Maybe a TOD Indy. I would be up for that!

Yeah, I wouldn't expect them to go too deep with a line of 6" figures, and that would be fine with me.

All this talk of Harrison Ford being too old but what about John Williams? He'll be nearly 90 when Indy 5 rolls around.

As soon as I saw the announcement for IJ5 I instantly thought about how the offerings from Hasbro would probably me much different this time around if a toy line was re-established. I'm sure there would be a few 6 inch figures, but the vehicles wouldn't be as nice, and the basic and deluxe line would probably be made up of 5 POA figures. :/

Yeah I think it would be very different, good point: if they do any 4" they will be 5POA.

I'm not a huge fan of 5 POA, but I would definitely buy 5 POA Indy figures, just because. Heck, we might even get some of the characters we didn't get the first time around if they do a 5POA line (look at some of the figures we've gotten in the TFA line). Then again, we may not...they might not even do toys...who knows.

Personally, I would be really surprised if they did any figures at all. But that said, we all know what Hasbro doesnt learn its lessons: see TPM figures in 2012! Unbelievable.
So maybe, it would be amazing if they did.

I definitely think Hasbro will try to bring back Indy in toy form. the figures were good just again like everything else it was bad case packing and overkill of the main characters. I didn't even see TOD on the pegs (got the hookup from a fellow scummer), I think I spotted LC once at retail. the main problem was the overkill of Mutt Williams and various Indys.

here's hoping that Indy 5 won't have Mutt in the script!

I agree. Bad assortments and the first couple waves had really bad paint apps. It also didn't help these figures were like a $1 more than the great Star Wars figures we were getting at the time. But once the last crusade wave came out paint apps had improved tremendously and I was on board. Loved that wave and the tod wave. Very disappointingly missed the sdcc pack, I had assumed it would be readily available from China much like the tod figures were/still are.

I LOVE this line. But I think you are wrong. I bet Hasbro wont touch it again with a barge pole, it was such a disaster for them. I dont think it s a reflection of quality, because (some issues aside) they were amazing quality. It was a case of Hasbro making poor choices and poor case asst (sounds familiar) but primarily fan base just not being there! As much as we may love this property, there just isn't the demand for a toy line!

My main issue with the old line of Indy toys is that you had to buy about 4 just to make the definitive Indy figure.

I hear what you are saying, but the SDCC pack Indy pretty much is the definitive Indy IMO...too bad he wasn't readily available. Yeah, I would really be surprised if they do anything but, like I said, Disney is behind the movies now. Who knows what difference that may make? I'd be ok with a six inch line with just major characters...heck, even just Indy would be great.
