It has been confirmed we'll be seeing an Imperial Sandtrooper in the first wave of 6 inch Black series.

Worth picking up?

What can we expect from this figure? A probe droid? Different pauldrons included?

Bloomin' well should do at this price. All four different blasters too. And the staff.

Dewback would be nice.

Just thinking, is the Black series part of the Legacy Collection or should it have its own section?

I've put in a request for a new section since it'll be a new line, discussion can take place here till a section is started :)

Character selection is tricky. If Hasbro put all of the big characters in wave one, there's less interest in wave two.

A Sandtrooper keeps the Stormtrooper out of the line until the second or third wave, but shares most of the parts, keeping the profits up.

This is a wasted slot.

Not really if it's a clean Sandtrooper it can then double as a Stormtrooper (once the paldron is removed) as well which people would army build like no tomorrow. It'd be a fast mover on the shelves.

You'll buy more then just imperials. Once you buy black you don't go back to 3 3/4 inch.

Why Hasbro doesn't start off with the more iconic Stormtrooper is beyond me. Maybe they want to showcase their paintwash details first. Although, a Stormtrooper with really shiny armor would have looked just as cla*s*s*y in that black packaging.

Why sandtrooper instead of stormtrooper or even clone trooper...why?

I'm sure if the line is a success we'll see those as well.

With the Sandtrooper you can always take off the pauldron to make it a Stormtrooper but you can't turn a Stormtrooper into a Sandtrooper unless it comes with a pauldron...so it makes sense to just to release a Sandtrooper and kill 2 Peko-pekos with one stone.

Please no Clonetroopers for a while. It seems like once they infect a line, then we end up almost nothing but Clonetrooper repaints from that point forward (just look at what's happened to Sideshow's 12" line). I hope they focus on OT troopers for a while before moving on to Clonetroopers.

At this size, I hope Hasbro would pay more attention to the details that make Sandtroopers and Stormtroopers different.

The belt and lower left leg would be different sculpts, and the helmet needs different paint. The torso and shoulder straps are different, but I'm not sure if they would translate at this scale. The torso might.

I wouldn't mind only the five AOTC clones (trooper, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, commander) for a long time. Just get them out of the way, give y'all OT guys what you want for a few months/a year, and then start making more clones: ROTS, Rex, maybe a commando or ARC trooper. But get us some OT guys (Bossk, Dengar, Jedi Luke, ect.) so you guys don't get upset with it right off the bat.

It's why I love this bit from the article so much:

"Hasbro will primarily draw characters from the original Star Wars trilogy of films while also bringing in key players from the prequels."

That just gives me so much hope that this doesn't have to adhere to the 50/50 model of the last 8 years. You could even say I have... a new hope.

not if they make the sandtroopers armor/helmet accurately

I will buy the Sandtrooper. When they release it with a different pauldron I'll buy that too. And them I'll buy stormtroopers. I am doomed and resigned to squad build six inch stormtroopers. Okay, I'll probably stop at 3 of each and be happy. Not really a full squad. Squad-ish. Squad-esque, if you will. So weird, this was the last thing I expected to walk into.

Well people are already decrying the poor facial likeness and disproportionate thighs to chest so I'd say complaints are inevitable.

I'm perfectly fine with the face sculpt on the Luke. It may not be the best Hamill likeness, but it is a good sculpt and that's all that really matters for me. One of the reasons that I don't really get excited about core, human characters is because of the likeness issue. Even if it's a great face sculpt, people are going to complain because they don't think it looks enough like the actor. Either way, it think it's too early to pass judgement on the likeness based on what is most likely a hand-painted prototype.

Anyways, back to the Sandtrooper... if this line doesn't really take off and these first four figures are the only ones that we get, then the Sandtrooper is the one that I would be most excited about.

Getting any Trooper at all out right away makes perfect sense financially. I wouldn't count on multiple pauldrons, as much as I hope each figure in this line represents the "ultimate" version of that particular character or outfit (For example, I'd like a Farmboy Luke to include both his regular and Stormtrooper belts)

They've developed some clever ways to reuse tooling with basic body parts in Marvel Legends, and Star Wars just doesn't have that kind of flexibility without drastically affecting accuracy. They're going to have to milk this Trooper mold. I'll gladly buy all versions.

Army building...that will be too brutal for me at $20 each.

Wait and see how good the sculpt is, and you may change your mind...

Ha! Oh, I am confident that the sculpt will be fantastic. I mean, just looking at how great 4" Troopers have gotten in the past few years tells me all I need to know. And I'm not sure if anyone here collects the relaunched Marvel Legends, but the recent figures that reuse older Hasbro & Toy Biz sculpts have been pretty nice, but the figures that are all new sculpts have been phenomenal in the way the articulation and sculpt work together. I love seeing how that 6" Luke uses the new style of ankle rocker joint Hasbro developed in recent years.

This Stormtrooper sculpt is going to be great.

Ideally, they should just include all three pauldrons and the weapons but the potential for an easy repack with different weapons and pauldrons is too high.

This is one I'll definitely be picking up and am happy to see.

definately agree that the figure should have all the pauldrons and at least 3 of the weapons, long blaster, E-11 and heavy repeater. I would love it if the figure came with a probe droid accessory as well.

and a cool mail away would be a scale Dewback

That's what I was hoping for as soon as I saw the Sandtrooper was coming.

I'm quite sure the sandtrooper can't 100% double as a stormtrooper without the extra's. I remember some guy pointing out on here about the knees, but that is extremely nitpicking.

the knee (sniper) plate is different, the abdomen plate is different, the helmet is painted differently, no drop boxes on belt, no thermal detonator, and probably some other things I'm forgetting. It isnt knit picky, it is what it is. On a 3 3/4" figure you can forgive those little things, but for $20 on a 6" figure, I hope they actually get it right......But as someone already said, it's Hasbro.

Yep, just to go along with the conversation since Hasbro hates to make a film accurate Sandtrooper at the 3 & 3/4" scale it would be in there best interest to do right by this guy in this scale especially since it's meant to appeal to collectors.

I agree, I don't think it's nitpicking at all. A Sandtrooper is more than just a Stormtrooper with a shoulder pauldron. I would like to see Hasbro get this one right, but considering the immense tooling costs that a line like this will require, I expect them to release what amounts to a Stormtrooper with Sandtrooper gear. I still plan to buy it regardless; but I won't say for sure until we start to see some images.

Hoping for a dirty armor like the last TVC version. I too would like the multiple pauldrons included but wouldn't bet on that happening. Rather I can see multiple guns and probe droid kind of accessories, leaving no room financially for 2 extra pauldrons. I see them trying a second version down the line with different color and shade of armor. But I'm def not a fan of the super clean armor with the sandtrooper.
