Imperial Officers Multipack

And I think this dilemma perfectly illustrates the need for two types of multipacks. The traditional troop pack like the Stormtrooper set, and a second style meant for names characters, simply because we aren't likely to ever see all the Officers in the main line as there's just too many to cover. I think Hasbro really does need to bring back "Battle Packs", they worked really well for a long time so I don't know why they stopped. Obviously not having a large presence at retail and with fewer kids being into the line does cause problems for having multiple "expressions" as they like to put it now. Look how long it took to get a DLX SKU back, and now we've got rumored 2-pks so I'm curious where that could lead. Because I loved the Geonosis and Order 66 2-pks as it allows some niche characters to get made but came with Clones so two birds one stone!

Some of my favorite multipacks were ones that offered variety of characters versus just a whole set of Clones, Stormies etc. The Joker Squad 6-pk for example was really cool because you got a Sith Lord with 5 unique Stormtrooper characters. TFU Multipacks were also awesome! And the TRU Jedi Knight 4-pk were really cool as they covered some obscure characters!

So yes I do think originally this was just an answer to getting more Stormtroopers out for army builders as the basic line was lacking in that ability due to several reasons. But in a way they have kind of moved on from that basic concept due to the needs of collectors, and especially once Hasbro chose to do non helmeted troops like EBT's and RFT's, that brought about the named character aspect. I don't know of anyone who would have been into an Officer 4-pk of just random no name characters, sure it would have provided excellent fodder for people wanting a General, Captain or LT. to fill in some low ranking officers but overall they'd mean nothing if a couple of them weren't sculpted to look like Lennox, Praji, etc.

Ok guys let’s not blame anything on “diversity” but it would’ve been cool to have four named officers instead.

In the context of troop building I always looked to the term "diversity" to reflect one thing - that troopers who didn't have their faces covered did not look like clones of one another. And if different face sculpts weren't a possibility, then style the trooper likenesses in something of a neutral way. A number of the Rebel Troopers figures (Endor, Hoth, etc) of the 2000's across various lines had facial hair or some feature that made them look a little too individualized. This is something that drove me bananas with the Rebel Hangar Crewman, because he looked so much like one of the guys on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" So there's a fine line between making troopers that look all the same and giving them distinguishing features.

In the case of the Imperial Officers 4-pack? I think the blend of 2 named officers with 2 unnamed officers (even though one looks like Admiral Versio from Battlefront II) is where Hasbro got into some questionable territory. And I think they would have been better served to offer a generic officer 4-pack first (with indiviual likenesses). We can debate if they should be a variety of line officers (field grey uniforms), Stormtrooper corps officers (black uniforms) or ISB (white tunic, black trousers), or perhaps just one style. But I think that might have been the better route for the first Imperial Officer 4-pack. And in the next one you could go with the named officers and check that box for TESB Admiral Piett.

So true with trying to army build some figures back in the day that didn't have helmets! The Imperial crewman for example, as well as the Scanning Tech, sure you could buy multiples but the sculpted on hat left you with basically all troops looking the exact same. So that is one major reason I'm pro removable cap, and absolutely love that they chose to offer unique portraits to those rebel 4pks! It sure makes head swapping far more easier than it was on 02.

That's very exciting, now I'll actually put an order in this week rather than waiting until it's in stock!

If I recall correctly, Dodonna (not the ceremonial version) is wearing the same exact thing as the new Captain Antillies figure from the Rebel Fleet Trooper Army Builder set. And if memory serves, there were multiples in that outfit too.

Dodonna actually wears his long coat over the Antilles style coat - so he’s always wearing it in A New Hope. So that would even make soft good an option. (Not sure how that would turn out)

Like any other SG's jacket made in recent years, or ever? I don't really have any off-white/beige long jacket but I had thought about using AOTC Owen Lars oversized overcoat.

^Same, but still waiting on my holiday ewok to ship from them as well as ewok 2pk from ee,, r8 from shopD, anazon for several things...oh and I expect another notice from pulse by wknd for 2nd ewok 2pk

I hear that, especially with how much a lot of us have spent last month alone! And when you get right down to it, for me anyway, there's really only two must have Officers in this set. If I want a random Captain I can buy up several single Piett figures and do some head swaps, which I have already done. And if I had any input into this set I'd have gone with a lower ranking ISB agent. Which means I'll have to slice off a few chicklets from that rank badge.

Also, I'm kind of wanting to get another Jabba Denizen 4-pk so it's a bit of a toss up on what to get first and I don't expect to see either of these twos sets in Pulse's next sale.

I would love to see Battle Packs return, as well as the 2 packs! They could do any number of named Imperials this way, and then pack them with a Stormtrooper (I think it's safe to say that we ALL would be OK with more of the latest version), or even a Snowtrooper or Biker Scout. Some of them could even come with RA-7 droids, or the black Gonk droid from the first Death Star.

Spaced doing it earlier so I placed an order yesterday.

This new Officer sculpt got me to thinking about whether Hasbro might make a proper Lieutenant Jundland, I mean if they'll make Cal as ISB agent why not? Regardless of the source Luke figures do sell.

It would’ve been a lot cooler if it wasn’t a troop pack
100% agree. Imperial officers are not faceless, helmet wearing troopers. They're known characters.

Give us that! Could have used this as an easy way to get minor characters who will arguably never get a single carded release, like Lt. Blevin. Instead, we have Mr. Nobody and his partner, Dr. Anonymous!

(wait, which of us has the PhD?)

I agree with Bossk's sentiment that the construction wasn't well executed and that they should have gone the same route as the Jabba Denizen 4-pk and had two more named Officers, that way some collectors could have carded versions of say Motti and whoever rather than this loose trooper route. I think/feel they probably would have sold a lot more units in comparison by offering four known characters and added to their appeal for both loose and MOC collectors.

As I once said it's a very different scenario as to Echo Base/Deck Officers where you see a lot of unknowns roaming about with only a couple known names characters, plus you don't have the whole issue of various ranks like we do with all on screen Imperials. I have to wonder if this was a purposeful decision or if they did it this way because they weren't sure people would go for 4 carded named figures as it likely would cost more than $60 just like Jabba's crew?

At first it was neat to finally get another Officer pack but it quickly became increasingly baffling as to why this particular configuration when there was so much more potential, almost as if they don't truly know their audience at all. I think a loose pack like this probably should have been the lower ranked guys like Daine Jir, Childsen, Nemet etc. as they're lesser known as if they could pass as a troop builder if a person wanted to but also would cover actual names characters for those who want that aspect. Plus it would have been a chance to get an Officer in the black uniform which we've not seen released since 2013 and that one wasn't exactly easy or cheap to get. lol

I really hope they've got more planned because at this rate we'll never see dozens of them made, and they still have to address some Officers from Andor. Which is probably where the carded versions will come into play, though I think with such reuse being utilized they should just do some two Officer packs and include random data pads and other gear as accessories.

Is the ISB guy literally just the same body as Krennic?
Yes, it's all the same...Rank pin and Code cylinders. *Edit - just been and checked, it looks like the holster is also the same, they just flipped Krennic's gun the other way round, I just tried it with the 5poa version and although it looks like this one is a new sculpt gun, the original fits in there easy enough.

This pack should've been 4 black colored uniformed officers with different ranks. Also, I don't understand why can't Hasbro include extra heads to swap out, this is an army building set after all.

Except neither of those things.

Officer Packs could work better if they released different variation packs. But we need also Rebel Officers and even Clone War era Republic & Separatists Officers as well. Overall I prefer much needed Trooper packs. The concept can go far, but if its one and done , then its kinda a dud.

I went ahead and orders this pack. Might get rid of my death start briefing figures since their articulation blows.

My ISB Officer has 2 left hands! Contacted Pulse UK and not happy with the response as they want me to pay the returns cost.

Bummer to hear, but that sounds accurate to Hasbro Pulse. If you get something damaged or wrong, and it’s their fault, you have to pay for the shipping and handling. What a joke.
