References for this vehicle are few and far between. Seen briefly in ANH:SE, it would seem again like a relatively simple retool of existing Imperial Shuttle moulds if Hasbro could be bothered. At this point in time it would seem unlikely though, so I took matters into my own hands.

Screen shots seem to be non-existent so I took photos of my paused DVD:

Some of the other references available bear minimal resemblance, so I discounted them as being EU to all intents and purposes:

I liked this one but just couldn't get the proportions to work using the existing tooling:

Recipe: 1 used Saga Imperial Shuttle (like this one)

Plus a Dremel, thermoplastic, cold-cure methyl methacrylate, cyanoacrylate, epoxy resin cement, 1 bleach bottle, couple of sheets of plasticard, satin ivory spray paint, black wash, some dry brushing, 1 repro vintage Shuttle sticker sheet from ebay and a few swear words!

Voila!

The rear wings fold. The landing gear was originally intact and functional but the back end was too heavy for it, so I removed it and blocked it off to display on an acrylic riser instead.

Getting a bit pic heavy there, so here's the other custom vehicle views:

I like it! You must have a lot of Shuttles to be able to risk doing that to! Those things arent cheap! So lots of points for bravery to! :)

That is one of the coolest things I've seen all year! As soon as i saw that ship for the first time, I dreamed of one day owning an "official" toy version. I love how the wings still work, and how you jave extended the troop carrying belly. Looks pretty darn movie accurate to me. Your diorama pics looks awesome. Super work. Now I'm jealous.

Wow. That is unbelievably awesome. Amazing work.

I'll go ahead and send you an extra shuttle and you can convert it for me, right? ;)

Nice work on the shuttle; I second ShamanLogRay: don't know if I'd be willing to part with a shuttle if I f'd up the vehicle in the mod process. Cheers to you for going through with it!

The finished dio looks great: I actually thought I was looking at a film cell in the small images before clicking on them. Awesome job!

Thanks for the comments. I collected the spare Shuttle from a local ebay seller after winning it for loose for just £40 (=$60). It was actually in much better condition than I expected or needed it to be! I bid on a lot before that but most of them ended up at about double the price, so I knew they were expensive. Patience is the key!

Looks Amazing! I have always wanted to try this. Nice to see it can be pulled off nicely.

That's one of the coolest customs I've seen in a long time - makes me want to go out and buy a shuttle to cut up now.

Who ... are you? Some kind of toy god?
