I haven't been out looking for new stuff in weeks (laid off/Stay Home order), so getting to open things that have been building up since last Fall. The Hovertank was one of these things sitting in a tote waiting to be opened up. It's great, wish I had the time to do this earlier on. And because I haven't gotten any of my TVC Rogue One figures opened up yet, and also because I was opening Solo movie 5poa stuff I went and filed out the Tank with some of those and Rogue One figures. The 5poa stuff works well. Pretty much. The Hovertank cockpit is a bit snug for the 5poa figures, but it's workable.

I completely agree and found myself in a similar situation of opening my first hovertank about a week or so ago. The detail is amazing (especially with the kyber crystal cannisters), and I sure was pleasantly surprised to find that the treads move.

This thing reminds me of old school ARAH GIJoe vehicles. The detail and included accessories provide so much play value. I want to pick up a second now. Personally I see it more as a Rebel vehicle than Imperial though.

I picked up a couple extra on steep discount for $10-20 each just for the canisters.

Im actually considering repainting a Republic tank in a heavy wash and giving it Rebel markings and displaying it against 2 of these.

These are worth it for the containers alone

This is where I sit my backside to watch TV. Today it has this awesome radness 😎

Those REBELS AT-DP pilots look as good as anyone in there IMO. Also they are “Imperial Combat Drivers” and are apparently the predecessor to the Tank Trooper armour design (according to Pablo Hidalgo). I have an articulated custom in the top hatch and with his helmet removed. Not my work, but it was nicely done.
I should mention, that’s Agent Kallus from REBELS in the top hatch as well.. kinda works!

Gorgeous setup. A shame tank driver and commander are so hard to come by. Still on the look out for a commander myself to finish up my display.

Thanks! They are indeed hard to find. I have both carded but for my tank set up i use the Jedha Revolt driver 5POA doesn't matter cause all you see is his head, for the Commander i landed lucky on a second TVC Tank driver and just painted on the Commanders paint deco.
Same with the Stormtroopers to change it up a little i cut and re positioned the arms of the 5POA troopers for some variety and also cost effective as the TVC RO Stormtrooper seems to be selling for near $25 each everywhere🤔

Cannot bring myself to buy a 5POA commander. Seen TVC Commander once at Tunghori Ebay store. Checking that page once in a while. With some luck, he might offer more.

I never saw them in the wild.
Very few places stocked these in their brick and mortar stores. I only recall seeing it at Fry's Electronics of all places. Then later at discount at an Ollie's, but that doesn't really count. Then there was the $10 ones at Five Below.

I would have bought a couple more just for the kyber crystal crates. I wouold have made one set where all three containers open.

I finished another custom Hovertank conversion.

Changes
- Removed the tracks & wheels & replacing them with something that could pass for repulsorlift drives
- Repainted the entire vehicle in traditional Imperial color & also weathered
- Detailed repaint of interior
- Added top cannon to Commander station
- Added magnets to the rear top side panels & metal discs to grate sections to hold in place on top
- To display & simulate hovering, made clear acrylic block with pegs that line up with screw holes on bottom

A few images...
Fully loaded running down Rebel Scum (sitting on clear acrylic block to simulate hovering)

I was just thinking to day that one of there might look cool with a large cannon, or perhaps a turret gunner station.

Having been a M1-A1 crewman it immediately stood out to me that it didn’t. That peg on the commander’s hatch ring
is supposed to be a handle (I guess) but it works perfect as a mount. I have a couple ideas I am working on for a large cannon mounted on the back.

Yeah, seems more like an armored transport than a tank. Even then it's more of a flat bed hauler than an armored transport with no top to the cargo area. I think Hasbro just named it completely wrong.

I'm getting a bit tired of auto fill/correct... Anyhoo, yeah an armored transport is fine if a bit "open", the transport itself seems armored enough but not the people traveling on the back! lol It fits more within a "cargo hauler" type of craft than anything.

i was just noticing that for the low price people could go crazy and create a few alternate versions is all, and I think one that has large cannon fits into the role of armed escort for the unarmed craft. The cannon doesn't have to be the size of the one on AT-TE, but perhaps a slightly larger version of the E-Web Blaster.

It is basically an Imperial deuce & a 1/2. Drops off cargo, ammo, or dinner & then brings troops back to rinse out their armor (I speak from experience). As for a large cannon, The POTF E-Web blaster is one of the first things I played around with. The cannons from the Solo play sets & double packs too.

One idea that I really liked & could work is using some of the Saga Clone weapon accessories...

They could be something like the Empire used on Mandalore (Rebels) that disintegrated Beskar.

And I did buy several of these for very cheap, after I got one at full price.

Probably the designers of the tank thought combine ROTA German Mercedes cargo truck with WWI Mark VIII mock up tank from IJATLC - minus the turret . Only real purpose of this thing in the movie was to transport the kyber crystals instead of the ark of the covenant.

Just got this yesterday. This is an amazing vehicle. I believe Rogue One gave us vehicles, ships and characters perfect for the OT. If you dont have it, get it. Its an awesome piece.
