Who’s picking up this deluxe set?

I will take it for sure. I also predict they ( Hasbro ) would even go the "Cad Bane-Way" with this one. First release a single boxed one, shortly followed by a two-pack with a Praedorian with a unique weapon not included in the inevitable single box release 🤪 🤪

Deluxe. $40. That's the only reason why this happened in the show.

Agreed. Andor was amazing. This season was a long toy commercial. I also don’t care if it is not deluxe. It’s crap. And it’s insulting to your intelligence.

That describes every Star Wars movie, show, and cartoon. As for the figure, I'd be all over it unless it's Deluxe. If that's the case then it's clearance city for me.

I fundamentally disagree.
Are the original movies a great source for toys and other merchandise?
Yes.
But were they made for that purpose?
I’d say no.
I think the original movies (and I’ll give Andor this credit too) were the vision of a storyteller who had something to say. They’re actual art. Seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian were a form of art. Pulp art, but art nonetheless.

This last season was no different than Power Rangers or He-Man or GI Joe. It’s fine as a kid I loved the Ninja Turtles cartoon, probably more than Star Wars. It didn’t stick with me into my 40s though. Star Wars did because it was a classic story with great characters and themes.

This figure and its entire concept is no different than “Sewer-Surfin’ Raph.” No hate on those that like it. It’s just not where my taste in Star Wars lands.

100% on the mark. Especially clarifying that Mando leaned heavily into pulp. So far, Andor and R1 are the only pieces of live action media since the purchase that actually made an impact on me.

oh, IG-88 wasn't tall enough? This new one looks less tall? Or perhaps he is bulkier compared to the old one.
No where near tall enough. When you look at one of the promo images of all the bounty hunters from ESB he's actually not even standing on the same level as the others and is still taller than most.
I don't need him to be perfect scale, but he should be taller than Bosskk. Also needs beefing up just a touch.

Other issue is the original mold doesn't stand very well. Hopefully since this has to accommodate Space Kermit it has better balance.... but Hasbros frequent issues with droid legs (or at least, thin droid legs) is a worry.

I'm in for a new IG-88, assuming this build is taller.

And I'm loath to admit it, but if this had a button that activated a sound chip simply saying "yes" I'd scoop it up.
if they did that then this would be an $80 figure....

He's a purchase for sure. I've said it before on other threads......the "Product Features" part of the description makes me laugh. "Made of plastic"??!?!??!?!??! We know it's going to be made of plastic (I guess it could be made of metal like the Titanium line and other Star Wars products, but...c'mon, man) and as features go, the obvious one in this case is that the robot can hold the Grogu. It's incredibly lazy on Hasbro's part to always stick to the generic useless script on those descriptions. There's actually a FEATURE this time!!!! And they don't highlight it for potential customers. Sure the pictures show it but.... it could easily be part of the text in a description. It's not every day that a figure comes along where the manufacturer can claim that you can open the chest to reveal a storage compartment. And what did you do, Hasbro?

I'm still getting this, but I mean, good Lord.....it reminds me of the speech in Glengary Glenross about people who are willing to buy things.....

Outside of the of the head, how much of this figure could even be re-used for IG-88?

I guess it depends on how much of a stickler you are, but there seems to be significant differences on all the other parts, with the torso and hands being the most obvious.

I found this comparison on rebeldroids.net

It would be really nice to get a correctly-scaled IG-88. Not even MAFEX or SHF has done that yet.

IG-12 has hit my pile of loot on BBTS. Waiting for a few more things before I ship.
