The speeders and snow scouts actually come from the incredible cross sections book, a book that serves the purpose of providing cool looking cutaways of vehicles we all know and love right out of the movies. I wouldn't even consider it EU as it doesn't have it's own story, it merely extrapolates from what we've seen onscreen.
