Hot Toys - 1/6 Emperor

Why would they show an old figure and Vader without Kenobi? I think they are SS versions maybe; all the stuff pictured has been released that I could tell.

Emperor, throne and Vader look to be SSC's. Wait and see...

It looks like they took that photo on a dare, attempting to get the worst possible picture of the two new figures. That Vader doesn't look quite like SSC to me. And the Emperor -- who can say?

Staring at it for some time, Vader does look like SSC's DX/ESB. Emperor is a bit more tricky. First thought it was SSC's 1/6 and its throne but looking closer, it appears to be bigger than Bespin Luke. It might be SSC's PF.

Pass.
Already have the SSC Emperor and Throne.
HT needed to get out of the gate better than this!
Remaking all or most of the figures SSC made several years ago wasn't the way to best impress.
Sorry!

Not really sure there are other figures they could go with any other options seen as though sideshow has covered most of the main characters PT and OT with exception of bespin or hoth Leia. Can't see them starting with characters sideshow haven't covered like tarkin or cantina alien #3 not counting chewbacca as the average person and interest probably wouldn't be there whereas the big names would. However the non canon shadow trooper is puzzling

They are certainly churning them out, I'm surprised that they'd make so many at once..., no way I could buy so many, the budget just won't allow for it. lol ;) Thankfully just the Stormtroopers are of interest so far..., looking forward to seeing the facial likeness of the emperor though.

Easy pass on the emperor, already have him in PF and 1:6, and the PF is one of my favorites. If they wanted to make an X-Wing Luke I would still purchase that, even with the SSC version on PO.

I thought it was funny when I looked on my phone that there were two blurry pics of the range of figures, and then two close-ups of the already released Luke Bespin set, but none of the Vader and Emperor. It looked like they were probably already released figures :whistling:

I was just having another look to check on the Vader which I thought it should be possible to identify and saw this update on the page:

UPDATE:
Turns out, none of the stuff was new. The Star Wars figures were either old or from Sideshow. The Lethal Weapon figures are customs. Thanks to forum member Satam for the heads up on this. Still plenty of nice pics to enjoy. Sorry for any confusion.

....move along.... move along.....

Nearly positive it's Medicom Vader. Judging by the size next to Luke and the helmet.

Not a Medicom specialist but it might be indeed. It's also been confirmed that all figures displayed at this event were older figures or even fan made.

I unfortunately missed out on the SSC ROTJ Emperor Palpatine and Throne and now, aftermarket prices are hideously expensive.
Hot Toys I feel, would trump the SSC version by a wide margin, so I would absolutely love them to tackle ol' Palps.
Even if it's sans throne, I wouldn't mind.

To be honest, after seeing a few SW sculpts made by HT and also the new Vader I'm not that enthusiastic about them anymore. On other lines (non-SW) most of their sculpts are insanely good. With SW they kind of dropped the ball... :(

I missed out on the Sideshow Emperor too. :(

Have his throne and just use the electronic Hasbro Emperor which looks ok sitting on there.

I have tried getting one off evilbay for a good price but like you said the prices sellers want for one are CRAZY!

$300 (with shipping) + AUST is just too much for an old basic Sideshow figure IMO, same as Aayla Secura who goes for a similar price who I also don't have. :(

I think it's too soon to tell. We know these babies look much better in hand than on the prototype pics. So far only Bespin Luke has been released and it's a major improvement. The only other human headsculpt HT has shown us so far is Han Solo and we all know how hard Harrison Ford is to tackle down. Let's wait for Leia...

Hot toys has also released images of Ben Kenobi...which is also debatable on the likeness front.

Sure, but then again it's not "in hand".

And I think old Ben's headsculpt has improved between the first exhibit pictures and the last studio photo shoot.

Maybe....'maybe' it is a new HT Sidious...
Above is comparison shots with the Toy Exhibit next to Rebelscum photoshoot.

- not sure whether the small plaque in front of chair on Right is part of design,
- the Robes seems different in colour & texture; either the lighting plays a part,
& they rushed during set-up for exhibit (therefore looks very crumpled)

Oh ****. This is NOT another case of 'do you see Blue-Black or White-Gold dress' is it? LOLOL!!!

Does that book have anything about metal gear solid and the marvel film's?

Short answer. Nope. Hopefully in the coming weeks or during SDCC.

No preorders yet for him, or the Death Star Trooper, or the Power Droid, or Jedi Luke. As said above, hopefully around late July/early August after SDCC.

Can't really see the face all that well (I wonder if that was intentional?) but I'm not really seeing anything that makes me want to replace my Sideshow version.

THrone will most probably be sold as a DX set. Having Sideshow myself, i can still see myself gatting at least Palpy. Fabric seem to be a serious improvment and it looks like this HT version comes with a second layer underneath the robe at least.

He looks a little too reclined in his chair. Hoping the figure itself isn't as pillowy as he seems. Palpetine always seemed like a pretty skinny guy in ROTJ and his robe was relatively form fitting.
