Re: HEADS UP! Scheduling starts next week

I'm glad you're all happy with your schedules (thank God for FileMaker!). Now if I can just fill the rest of the slots I'll be a happy camper too. So, add some shifts! Get the word out!

Got a great schedule. But can anyone answer this what does a Line Tender do?
You'll be helping people at the start of the big lines for the big signing guests. I'll be sending detailed info next week.

Got my badges in the mail and there was a photo copy of the schedule for the exhibits, laser tag, family room and others. I will post a link later on where you can view it.

Re: HEADS UP! Scheduling starts next week

Hi Anne,
I received my great sched. but my son didn't receive his email yet with his sched. I have found another volunteer for you but I can't find the correct link that, I can key in his info., on the volunteer form. When I try to key into the volunteer form, nothing happens. Should I print a copy of the volunteer form and mail it to you? At what address do I mail the volunteer form for the new person volunteering? Still looking for Mike's sched. I hope he wasn't overlooked. Thanks Anne for all your hard work. "Praying for you."

Re: Schedules

We got the shifts that we had asked for.
And we also got the top two positions that we wanted--two shifts of one and two of the other.
So we're happy. Really looking forward to doing both crowd control and the Guest Escort stuff. Yay.

Re: Schedules

I got my preferred times. Yay!

I have a question about wearing costumes. If this is something that's going to be covered in the information sent at a later date, that's fine, no need to answer now.

I will have a half hour between being a target for GenCon's laser tag game...er...volunteering work the laser tag game...and when I start my shift at OfficialPix. I'll be in Scout armor.

I'm assuming it's preferred that an OPX guest escort be in street clothes/volunteer shirt and NOT in costume. Is that correct?

I'm SO looking forward to helping with OPX!

Re: Schedules

Anne told me that if we were "crowd control" it would be ok to wear costumes....

Anne can correct or addend this, but my understanding (as stated above) is that crowd control can wear costumes. But if you are an Escort a costume is going to get in the way of us performing our duties. We are supposed to be in volunteer shirts for that.

Since you will likely need to change, check out the 501st Volunteer board and the thread about the changing room situation and stipulations. I have asked about those of us that are volunteering for both organizations. Command staff is asking GenCon about us and will then post the answer there.

I figured so. No problem.

I saw your post there. Since I'm volunteering for GenCon on Wednesday, I figure I'll get their badge first. Besides, I need to have access to that changing room!

Re: Schedules

LOL.
We will too at times even though we are going to be at the Holiday Inn. Not much time sometimes to go even that close to change between different duties.

Not to mention that customers approaching to receive their autographs can and will be distracted
by the costume; it's a dis-service to both the customer and your guest. That's why the only costume-permissable positions are Crowd Control & Line Helper. {Need to add anything to this, Anne???}

Just another quote I got today from Gen Con when I asked about the schedule of events...
"Dana I am unaware of any schedule of events that we will be posting. I would just keep checking on the Starwars.com website for updates on events expected at the show. Sorry I can’t be of more assistance." What the heck??!
<font color="purple">I saw this on the bottom of the page at starwars.com after i looked at the production stars at C4

Production Stars at Celebration IV
Throughout the Weekend
May 25 -- 28, 2007
Los Angeles Convention Center
Check onsite schedule and the </font> "Insider's Guide to Celebration IV," coming next week on starwars.com!

THis is the schedule we've been looking for? Cutting it close if it is...

Why is everyone clammering about costumes? It is pretty clear and has been discussed several times. Crowd control can wear a costume...everyone else, a volunteer shirt.

See, there's the rub - Americans as a whole can't make REAL tea...

1) 'Lipton' or 'Red Rose' is NOT real tea - Typhoo or Tetlies is acceptable.

2) Real tea does not have fru fru flavors - Especially 'Orange spice'

3) Tea is steeped in BOILING water - not just 'hot' for 30 seconds. Microwaves don't cut it either.

4) In the intrest of neatness, I'm afraid I'll only have milky tea in the thermos, but I'll have a supply of sugar packs...
gee that's a shame since I don't 'seep' my tea... I strain it once and drink it straight and green. I've found nothing beats a good cup of Sensha; that is, Japanese green tea.

I've just been in to see Anne at the vendor hall -- you'll need to come see her personally if you want to sign up for a shift. She's had about five people drop out.

Re: HEADS UP! Scheduling starts next week

Depending on how insane it is I may pick up an extra shift or two. Just as long as I have enough time to do the shopping I want and get the autographs I want during my off time.
