Hasbro's STAR WARS Bi-Weekly Q&A Session - Part 11

Dear Hasbro,

When will the trio of Yak-Face, Tessek and Ree-Yees be put on Vintage cards? Yak-Face has needed and update since 1997, since the POTF2 version of him doesn't hold up to modern standards, and he was a bad figure overall. Tessek, although the 2001 figure was good, his articulation and detail doesn't hold up. Ree-Yees, again, despite the fact that the 1998 figure was a good, it just doesn't hold up with the detail and articulation of modern times.

Thanks

Dear Hasbro, please re-release Darth Revan and Darth Malak. For years the secondary market has benefited from selling them while you could have. Any rare figured should be given a second chance at release. This is beneficial to both parties.

Dear Hasbro,
Since Bastila didn't seem to get very good distribution and left many fans without her, could we possibly see her put into a Exclusive multipack with the previous KotOR figures similar to the McQuarrie sets?

Would love to see all of these guys get the SA Vintage treatment... that would be awesome!

Or maybe just rerelease the figure along with the Echo Base Trooper?

don't forget Ponda Baba as well. I didn't see any of the figures from this wave.
I got enough of him myself. I'm not a customizer so I only needed one but picked up a second to keep MOC.

Bastila was a fans choice and a lot of people wanted her, the Hoth Rebel was a much needed update and an army builder at that.

Ponda doesn't have as much appeal, still, they could repack him in one wave and that wouldn't hurt.

The Echo Base Trooper is a obvious choice for future release at some point, whether it be a single card or BP.

Bastila on the other hand most likely wont see another release.

Dear Hasbro, would you please maintain the status quo. I love vintage cardbacks as well as many others and would hate to see them go.

It's just not gonna happen. I'm sure it will come back, I mean look at VTSC VTAC and now VC, great figures just keep pumping out. And what better time to bring it back than the OT release(s). I'm pretty sure I'm reiterating what others have said.

Not to be the sour apple here, but is there any point to keeping this thread open anymore? It's obvious that the q and a sessions aren't returning - especially as there was no mention of them coming out of toy fair...

DDP told me on Facebook that the Q&A are on hiatus. Not canceled. So they should return eventually.

Is there any chance you would consider allowing collectors to buy figures individually online while still selling core characters and in demand figures in retail? Local stores will only stock a wave of figures maybe twice so I can't buy the multiples I need through them since there are only a couple stores near me and online I have to purchase multiple cases to get multiples of certain figures which is not realistic or fiscally viable for me to do. This places a strain on the consumer which turns away business and only helps those who are in it for profit, which is another bad business strategy. Please listen to reason and give your consumer base more options to buy what they want and I guarantee you will see your profits increase. This way you can also gauge demand and release only the popular figures giving your suppliers and distributors more sellable product.

Is there any possibility that you will be tooling a new Phase 2 Clone Trooper helmet for upcoming Clone Trooper releases? The all new Vintage Attack of the Clones Clone Trooper looks fantastic and the newly sculpted helmet that looks sleeker and more proportionate made this an appealing figure to buy. Seeing the dated and deformed helmet repeatedly used on Revenge of the Sith Clone Trooper releases is disappointing and ruins the appeal of the figure. If it is too costly to tool a new helmet might I suggest using the helmet that was previously sculpted for the Revenge of the Sith line that came with the AT-TE Gunner. It's not the best but it is vast improvement over the one currently in circulation now.

You just released an Astromech Battle Pack. These great packs are often released with the coming of a big vehicle. That said, can you re-release maybe as a store or holiday exclusive - the Naboo Royal Starship?

I don't think we will see the royal starship for sale again... Don't have one, not sure though if I would buy one... Possibly, but I am not against seeing it in stores again

Yeah, the Naboo Royal Starship tanked so badly that it pretty much killed the large vehicle market for nearly a decade. I don't think Hasbro would ever revisit it for any reason.

I can't remember this well, but didn't Hasbro confirm that they would not re-release the Royal starship?

I don't remember that but I wouldn't mind an update at some point but it's not urgent. It should have been one floor throughout so that you could have figures sitting ad standing. Also, though cool, it was annoying that the exploding exterior panels couldn't be locked down somehow while not using the remote explosion feature. Other than those two issues it a rather nice large vehicle.

Yes they did, for which I cannot blame them but it seemed like a great time to take advantage of an existing mold.
Granted it's not the most interesting ship in SW but it did pay a role throughout the whole movie, and I probably would have picked one up if released again.

If it wasn't for the original going for too much w/o the extras, I would have bought one off ebay by now.
I was just waiting/hoping Hasbro would revisit it with some refreshments, maybe add a new Pilot and different Droid etc.

You won't get the Royal Starship for under 100-200 Euros in Germany. On Ebay ! Imagine that !

And you call it "it tanked so badly" ???

The secondary market is a completely different animal from retail. You can't really compare the two.

I was able to pick up a Royal Starship on clearance for $20 in early 2001. It had been sitting on the shelf collecting dust for close to 2 years.

It was a horrible failure at retail.

Part of the reason why you can't find it cheap on Ebay is because you just can't find it now. This was released over ten years ago, so good luck finding one. It's not like you can walk into a department store and take one off the shelf. Back in the day I bet you could have had one on ebay for cheap but that was ten years ago.

Yeah even though TPM is hated by many a good amount like it as well. The demand is great enough that this goes for a higher price on the secondary market but not high enough for a re-release even. I love TPM but have no desire to get this. There are just so many other things you could buy now(large vehicles specifically).

I just read over at www.starwars-figuren.com that the Q&A's have not been officially cancelled and there is no replacement.
It seems Hasbro will check forum sites for fan ideas and of course be willing to hear what fans have to say at conventions.

Remove the first "not", if I understood the source correctly.
I think that was a typo, since he posted the same thing in a few other places without that 'not.'

Anyway. Maybe I'll start my own Q&A. It would probably be about as accurate as the official one, but it have more cursing.

I really, really hate to say it, but this may be the end of the line. Hasbro's basically cutting fan ties, downgrading the quality of their lines, and is making figures impossible to get. We may see it end after ROTJ 3D.

I think it's too early to claim the sky is falling.
As for downgrading quality. Have you seen the Aayla figure? That one looks amazing. I have been rather impressed with the quality of the figures lately

I kinda concur. The last year, I'm buying less and less. Havn't bought anything from hasbro the last couple of months.
The only figures I'm going to focus are like impossible to get where I live. Except if I'm willing to pay a lot on ebay for it.
I am more focusing on statues and higher end collectibles, like Sideshow figures. They cost more, but I spend in the end less on it than I bought a ton of Hasbro figures. And they take less space than a dozen of figures.

Kinda bummed Hasbro isn't doing the Q&As anymore. I'd like to have made some requests to make running changes on a couple of the new vintage collection figures.

Seriously wtf is going on? These TVC waves were supposed to be out by April and it's nearly May.
