Handicraft projects from Essen in the Outer Rim

Those are the best POTF2 I could hope for! Plus, the color schemes on Han, Ackbar, and the lady are perfect! 🤩

Thank you! 80s Comic or 00s Comic Series could be a new SW series’ name. I think we already have Boba Fett figures (two comic cardbacks, one from the droids Film series). Ackbar and Han also fully articulated.

Hello collectors,

2024 is slowly ending. Actually I have no time for building any custom projects anymore and a lot of traveling and serious family things have to be done in the upcoming weeks. So the last action for this year was cleaning and building an exhibition shelf that I got for free by chance from a better furniture store in 2023.
Today I put most of the 2024 custom items in the shelf I am pretty sure I built this year.
Finally I count
- ca. 10-12 concept cardbacks (a Rey cardback I like is missing)
- 3 Princess Leia Organas (2 80s Comic Leias, 1 very challenging Dark Horse Comic Cover Leia as pilot outside in space)
- 1 Dark Rey, 1 Rey as X-Wing Pilot
- Completely new characters of Rey‘s Jedi Order: Jedi Master Vianne, Padawan Celeste, Droid parts broker Lizk, 2 droids (UC-3PO and ST-14G)
- 1 Crimson Dawn Qi-Ra
- 1 80s Comic Han Solo, 1 Mothma, 1 Vader, 1 Ackbar
- 1 Clone (Covert Ops) Upgrade to Sgt
- 1 Aayla (Comic colours) and 1 Aayla Secura Ghost
- 1 1977s Comic Bossk
- 1 Tales of the Empire Barriss Offee (.. the series was really good)
- 1 Padme as handmaiden (missing in the photo)
- 2 Rebel X-Wing pilots
- 1 Zeb in his blue pilot suit from Mandalorian
- 1 Ben Kenobi „Krayt Dragon Howl“ with a cardback (in his first appearance in A New Hope)
- Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn on the film set of The Phantom Menace in 1999 (missing in the photo)

And projects still in progress or needing an update: A Falleen Warrior, another Padawan of the New Jedi Order, Caij from Jedi Survivor, Upgrade of Leia as X-Wing Pilot and a Jedi Temple Guard.

Hope you all had nice and relaxed Christmas holidays with your families and a good Star Wars year 2024.

First night of cutting, glueing paperboard, testing, prototyping in 2025 and some work in progress photos.

I saw a Star Wars Legion gunship with four sliding doors and was inspired by this model. Most gunships have this strange open passage without doors in the front part. In addition to find two Bubble Turret Cannon Spheres is impossible if you are not building your own.
So it's a nice alternative to display your gunships' fuselage with four open doors.

My first attempts when I tried to find
the right scale and form for the door,
a good height and fixing points without drilling or put glue directly on the plastics.

Gunships are one of the coolest SW designs created IMO. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Hi @VaderJay,
I have a good template for the new door now and will try to bend/form the right curves on it (like the backdoors) at first and fix it. Then paint one door just in the same gunship light grey to have a feeling for best position and look.
And in parallel looking for cool clones. Do you collect some special clone troopers? Some non-unique of them are really very rare and got to so expensive like the Geonosis guys.

I'm not sure if I have any unique clones. I've packed away most of my clone wars era figures and ships for now. Maybe it's time to get them out and take inventory.

Clones and Jedis where my kids (and mine) favorite types of figures so we have scores of them.

Update and upgrade on the first door.

I adapted the bends/curves of the door.
Chose the two angles and fixed it with cardboard cuts and a lot of glue. Added the windows on the doors.

Next step will be cut longer distance pieces and fix the door to the gunship. Plus building frames with fine paperboard in order to hide all the holes of the bigger cardboard.

Tried something new and small.

A probe droid hologram. Originally it is a Micro Machines probe that I got very cheap inside of a 3-pack on ebay.

The hologram communicator is an inner sealing cap of a toothpaste + glue + a shorten toothpick.

The joint between hologram and communicator has to be more stable so I used two glued cut pieces of a blister package for throat pills.

Coloured everything with grey, light blue, and a mixture of light blue+white (based on some hologram scenes in Clone Wars).

Figure is a Legacy Snowtrooper.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone try that before! That’s a neat effect. 👌

Thank you @Tulgah, I am still thinking about the ground and what kind of glue item I can use to fix the sticks and maybe glue soil pieces on the plate.
The problem with styrofoam is that the typical glue like UHU or superglue do not work well.
Maybe cook "wallpaper paste" with flour and water and try this.

Two other issues are painting and installing gras/plants. Not sure if I should paint the trees. And if I can build gras with paperboard and paint it with different green colours.

Just a small item. Built an Ewok Spear.

Cut a scaled stick from a dry limb. Then thinned it down to match the hand's size.
Rubbed a little piece from a soft stone (like triangle form) and wrapped the stick with brown yarn and glued it all together.

It's an easy and cheap way if you lost a spear or buy loose Ewok figures without weapons.

This weekend's painting progress on the baseplate.

Conducted a lot of repainting on spots which were still white due to the grainy surface of the styrofoam. Used a light behind the baseplate to find the spots. Started to paint first trees with brown colour.

Printed one of my own forest photos on a DIN A3 paper in order build a background. Glued the photo on a paperboard.

Took test photos with Shaak Ti and Holo Yoda, Leia and Luke with the background.

At the moment I only have material costs of 3+1+3 Euro for acryl paint, paper print and assembly adhesive.

Yeah, I’m intrigued by Shaak Ti talking to Spirit Yoda (or is that a hologram?). Nice shot!

Thank you @Tulgah, it‘s the ROTS Yoda (also an Exclusive) that is still available new for 10 Euro or below. I am sure it‘s a hologram but it is a bit strange that most of the holograms (like Aayla ot the ROTS series) have a holographic baseplate/stand as well. I would assume that holograms do not have a holo stand but a holo pad or comm.

I love this spear as it feels very realistic.

Hello collectors,

built tonight another Ewok spear and also tried to experiment with a new bow and arrow. The result is good but not perfect.

Does anyone build this weapon before?
I like that you can have an arrow in one hand and the bow in the other hand now.
