Han Solo (Starkiller Base)

Saw remnants of the "new" wave (one TFA Han and one Finn) at Wally earlier this week. No offense, but the paint apps, while not "Yoda starfighter bad", make it appear that Han had a stroke on the left side of his face. That's in addition to this being a one-scene figure. And that's on top of the unforgivable sin of giving us a brown-haired 60- or 70-something Han. At $13, I expect, if not perfection, then at least effort. I left it for you.

saw this figure finally. It's just as disappointing in hand. I'm not impressed. It's an awkward sculpt, the coat flares out in a weird way. But it's the TOTALLY a wrong hair colour that bothers me the most. Pass.

I used the 5POA head sculpt for my custom TFA Han. I've got to admit, it's way better. Plus I needed to steal his jacket (it's a new jacket, after all...) and I felt better about cannibalizing an $8 figure than I would have about tearing up a $20 figure.

Picked one of these up today finally! Two actually! I was surprised since it's been so many months now that he's been out there. I also got the latest leia but was hoping to get a phasma.

We still see Phasma occassionally and most have like 10-15 Hans each. Doesn't bode well for us getting new stuff. Guess the C$20 price after taxes doesn't help either.

Pretty much the same Custom others are doing but sculpted the collar:

Also did a simple Rey Custom (but don't have pics) - the latest 5 POA Jakku version (Rogue packaging) with the sculpted hat comes with a very soft plastic tunic -simply slipped them both off and put them on a spare SA Rey.

That looks great! What did you use for the collar?

kinda crappy pic with my old ipod. shaved down the scarf with an xacto just has to be sanded a little. simple boil n pop and Indiana jones arms fit perfectly and I have the 5 POA Han jacket waiting. theres no way I have enough skill to sculpt a collar on him so this will be my stand in until Hasbro gives us what they should have in the first place. then he'll just be TFA Han with a different shirt. like maybe the shirt he wore the day before the events of TFA lol.

So, these figure's arms actually boil and pop out? That's good to know.

Here's a picture of Han without his jacket. The arms are from Indiana Jones in an aborted customizing attempt.

Hmm...I'm thinking of being lazy and just using Indy arms on the Han just like you did and putting the 5 POA jacket on him. I can just pretend he was cold that day and used a scarf. Just don't want to go through the whole hassle of getting rid of the scarf.

If only they'd made the scarf as a removable element (like that AOTC Padme figure).

I finally found him today! I cannot believe some areas were backlogged with even one of these figures. My Walmarts, which do regular restocks, haven't restocked TBS since last year and are swimming Poe, Finn, and Endor Han. Yeah, this is not the choice I would've made for the TBS figure, but as someone who still hasn't even found the 5 POA Han from TFA, this will have to do as my TFA Han, and I'm ok with the figure. I may see how a head swap with a KOTCS Indy goes though.

I used the ROTLA version that came with the gold idol.

Same here! Just found this wave yesterday for the first time. So happy to have finally tracked these down. I only got Han and Phasma...Leia just didn't do it for me. There were several to choose from, so I was able to somewhat cherry pick paint apps. I don't get to open them till Christmas but, after waiting this long, what's a few more days?

Picked up one of these today unexpectedly and despite initial reservations, warmed up to the figure quickly. Can't figure out why. 'Han in another Blue Jacket' would have never been a figure I'd expect to favor.

OR is it a brown jacket? :) JJ said they intentionally changed the jacket as a nod to the endless debate over Han's Hoth coat. They added Han's confused look when Chewie hands it to him for the same reason.

Saw this figure for the first time in person today. Just couldn't bring myself to buy it. Looks more like the actor Bruce Greenwod (Christopher Pike in the new Trek films) than Harrison Ford to me.

At least the holster peg can pull out of the thigh, so you can (kinda) get the fig to sit down. But it is a poor choice for the only SA Han from TFA.

Yeah, the figure kinda stinks. The only element I used from it to make my TFA custom was the belt. Which is arguably the least essential element, as it is very close (although not identical) to the OT belts.

To me it's weird that han in TFA was in all brown. Not a drop of color of any kind anywhere. At least the snow outfit is a little more interesting visually speaking.

I was just happy to actually get a 3.75" SA TFA version of Han. Sure, I wanted the main outfit, but at this point, I'm willing to take what I can get. The head sculpt isn't very good, but the costume is interesting enough. I think if this had been the second SA 3.75" TFA Han, then it would have been more popular.

Since Han died in the film, Hasbro doesn't need to play catch-up with any Han figures pst TFA (not including the upcoming Han Solo film). So, if they decide to do another TFA Han, then they'll get to the main outift.

Am in the process of making a Han with his brown leather jacket that shoud've been standard , just cut out and drilled ball mount of the 5 poa to fit on the shaved down neck post of the BS Han so I get the 5poa head on the BS body. Was a bad choice using the cold weather gear for the BS version.

I would have liked to see han in TFA with black pants and blue stripes down the legs with a brown leather jacket or brown vest.

I got him today for $5.84 at walmart.

I'm definitely going to modify his jacket.

And if I make him a custom he's probably going to be EU old Han. But I'm also thinking of making him Corran Horn's dad. Maybe even a wuher. I'm still looking at him to figure out what I want to do. :{D

It wouldn't let me edit this into my last comment.

I've modified his coat open.

I also can't stop seeing him as an older woman. The coat looks like a woman's coat or something.

I'm going to cut off the lower part so it doesn't look so weird. :{

Yea... it happened about a year+ ago and has never been resolved for most of the forums... something about hackers attacking the site through the edit/Like feature we used to have. ... which begs the question.... who wastes time attacking a Star Wars figure collecting board?

Oh. I did notice it's only some places here that don't let me edit the post.

I don't know why trolls do what they do. I assume it's their upbringing.

I will say this about the Starkiller Han figure: it has the nicest DL-44 blaster I've seen from a 3 3/4 figure. :{D

TVC Dengar's is nicer....as is both versions of the 5poa bespin Luke. At least as far as short scope variants go.

For long scope I prefer the 5poa anh Han. I just dislike soft plastic guns that warp.

I think Starkiller Han's got the nicest. Dengar's is a different version of it and too small from what we see on screen. Still a great sculpt, but the newer one kills it. :{D

I really wish that we got the regular Han for this line. It was a limited line so they should have made the core versions instead of ones with limited screen time, so it was disappointing they went with the Starkiller base one with trench coat. Since they are finally decently priced, I decided to go ahead and make him into his normal TFA look.

I cut off the scarf, and gave him arms from an Indiana Jones figure and used the 5POA jacket. I cut off the collar from the 5POA one. I liked the 5POA headsculpt and paint better than the BS one but the neck joints are different sizes, so I had to modify the BS Han neck ball joint to accept the 5POA head.

Nice work and yeah, the regular Han would have been a beter choice. However, maybe they wanted to save him for the TVC line anyway.

What are the chances we might (someday) see this rereleased in TVC?

I'm interested in your opinions, and I'm asking the same question for a few other Walmart-exclusive TBS figures.

I know TVC is currently all about "The Mandalorian," but this Han Solo seems too cool not to rerelease. And we don't yet have a TVC Han from the ST.

Thanks.

I should add that this Han would look even better with a new photo-real-sculpted head. Worth the rerelease price on a TVC card?

I think this specific figure (and likewise D'Qar Leia, Jakku Finn, and Rose) was enough of a pegwarmer that Hasbro won't put it out again.

Once the ST vitriol cools off I could see them reusing this figure's lower body to make Han's main oufit, though. General Leia and TROS Finn wouldn't surprise me either. Unfortunately, after the reception Rose's character (and merchandise) got I'd be surprised if she saw a TVC release, as a repack or a new figure.

I sort of get them wanting to take a break on ST figures and revisit later on. What bothers me is their lack of imagination, I doubt Rose as the only person to wear though uniform. Yet I don't see them ever kitbashing/repainting it for a backgrounder either. Hasbro has seemingly left that in the past, aside from recent AT-ST guy, but that's once in 10 years or longer.

It's probably a good thing she went to clearance because a lot of people stocked up on that figure for customs.

I suspect that Han's main look will eventually get made because He's Han Solo, and main heroes sell. Not to mention it would be from the one ST movie everyone seems to agree on, and well the last one he was ever in. lol

I think I would rather have TRoS Finn first though, as well as few others.
