Han Solo (Starkiller Base)

Just got mine. The hair is grey, or rather has grey highlights, on the back, but not the front.

It also looks like his shirt has been sculpted under his jacket, though the scarf is part of this. However, it does suggest we'll see a brown jacket version at some point.

Oh - and the DL-44 sculpt is pretty fab too. The best I've seen, I'd say with pretty much all the detail recreated including a trigger guard.

Is his jacket removable? I know it'll leave the arms all wrong but I'm just curious how it looks under there. If they sculpted a shirt and all the details.

The jacket is a separate piece of that rubbery vinyl material, so I guess it can be removed. From what I can tell lifting the coat slightly, the shirt is fully sculpted, front and back, at least at waist level, but the scarf if moulded onto the torso around the neck so is not part of the coat section.

Got him yesterday for $5 at one of my local Walmarts. Just wish his hair was grey instead of light brown.

Opened him last night. He is a much nicer figure than expected. He even has the mid-torso joint under the jacket and his belt is a separate piece which was a pleasant surprise. I expected it to just be molded on as part of his leg and his hips, but nope, it's a totally separate piece.

Yeah real nice figure, sure the hair...I know, I'm over that.
The scarf is part of the chest, scratch an easy Han with his leather on.

After seeing the JTA review and images of the Black Series Starkiller Han, I've changed my mind on using KOTCS Indiana Jones as a replacement figure. The one I'm using does have some new parts - the titular crystal skull is sculpted as part of his left hand, so I switched that out, and his lower half is from the 30th Anniversary Collection Yavin Luke (The part is the same on the Black Series resculpt, but comes with Leia's Defender pistol rather than Han's DL-44).

Well, son of a crap!!!

I bought this figure hoping to do a quickie custom. My plan was to use the jacket from the 5POA figure and the torso from the black series carbonite han, with the pelvis and legs from starkiller.

Well, Hasbro never makes ANYTHING easy. The Starkiller base figure has a split torso, not waist articulation.

So much for that plan!!!

Damn you, Hasbro. You manage to accidentally thwart me at every turn.

Here's a picture of Han without his jacket. The arms are from Indiana Jones in an aborted customizing attempt.

Couldn't you use one of the upper torsos from one of the other hans that are articulated the same way? Maybe even the endor Han TBS figure? (Though that one is barrel chested...)

As a customizer, I have to say that I'm glad that Han and Leia are back to being able to be boiled and popped. I destroyed a Kylo Ren or two trying to take them apart.

I actually tried that very thing. That barrel-chested figure has parts that are the extremely hard plastic. It's impossible to just boil and pop the pieces off. I wound up obliterating the torso in the process.

Hasbro never makes it easy.

They didn't accidentally choose this to be the SA Han Solo from the force awakens. It was intentional.

What's with the scarf? :p

I think the torso I like the most, is the Sarlacc Han. Much easier to dremel out to accept BH shoulders.

Which one is that?

Dremeling out soldiers is an extra step! They should all be easy to boil n pop!!!!! Hasbrooooo!!!!

Why bother? The black series carbonite han is virtually identical but with super articulation - ball jointed shoulders that come right out.

Very nice! What arms are those?

Thanks! Those are unpainted Indiana Jones arms. Found one that was a pretty good color match, which is great since I suck at painting.

It's mostly black series carbonite Han with the TFA head and jacket, Indiana Jones arms and the gun and holster from the TFA black series Starkiller base Han.

That said, it's not finished, as I still intend to paint the tips of the cylinders in the jacket.

Great job. I can't imagine that a real one from Hasbro would do much more than what you've done here. Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks. My intent was to use the legs and pelvis from the starkiller version before I discovered the compatibility issue. So, though you can't see it in this pic, it has the ROTJ style yellow stripes on his pants, which aren't at all TFA accurate. Oh well!

These finally appeared in NJ! Check your local Walmarts in Northern NJ. They had at least 2 cases after having noting at all.

You know what, I think I'm going to borrow your recipe. Much easier than my previous idea is.

If the legs are molded in brown plastic (which I think they are) then you can use fingernail polish remover to remove the yellow stripes.

As for the Starkiller version, I'm glad to hear that they are beginning to show up in Atlanta. Hopefully it won't be long before we start seeing them in South Carolina.

Where in Northern NJ? I am in Northern-ish NJ and saw nothing yesterday (Boonton and the War Zone known as Cedar Knolls)
