Please use this thread to talk about the Han Solo figure issued in the 40th Anniversary vintage packaging line.

Thoughts on this Vintage release?

I think these are really cool. They remind me of the Gentle Giant Kenner Jumbos. I started to collect those but ran out of room real quick. The VC collection was great, and seemed like just as they are, toys. I've been getting 3.75" "toys" for Star Wars for 39 years now, so the 6" versions on vintage cardbacks to me feel like "collectible novelties".

I already ordered Han, Leia, R2, and Ben on these cardbacks so hopefully I can get them my next week!

Glad to have another chance at him. Wish they didn't pack him with both belts on. Doesn't bother me but might bother some MOC collectors

Yes, it's removable...as is his regular holster. I too think it is dumb how they carded him with both on, but I guess there's not a whole lot of room in the bubble...and at least they gave him all the accessories that the firs release came with.

I just ordered Han on Amazon. All of the first wave was available for preorder there.

I'm tempted to grab another Han to put the TFA jacket on him and have his look from Marvel's limited series from last year.

Did these older figures have the boil and pop shoulder joints too like the new ones? That would be a nice custom if it can be done.

I managed to get a 40th Han locally. I had both the original and Cantina version of Han and ended up selling both. I love the 40th one. The paint on the hairline seems more crisp. the underside of his hair at the front of my original one was unpainted. Also, I find that his hand on the 40th grips his blaster much tighter than both original BS ones. Really happy that I got him (again).

I love having a Han but his neck is so long

It really is. Ruins the overall look of a really good figure. I drilled out his head a bit more so that it sits a little lower on the neck. It does improve the appearance, though it breaks my heart to drill a £25 figure.

So, after reading that others have done it, I decided that I should too. I made the socket in the head deeper so his head sits lower. It's amazing how much better he looks with such a minor change and his head still has full range of motion.

I am really starting to get pissed off. First, Walmart pushes the date back for my Leia pre order, now I just got notice from Amazon that my Han Solo has been pushed back by at LEAST two weeks! I pre ordered back in February! It's not even for me. I'm sending it to my friend in the UK. Hopefully I have some luck and find one at retail before hand.

should of ordered them from TRU....I got mine already and my r2

Amazon pushed my preorders of Han and Ben until May 17-31. Guess it's better than an outright cancellation. Just didn't expect a further delay on these.

I had already placed this order before they were available at TRU. R2 was already pre sold out, but Han was still available. When TRU put them up, I placed an order for R2 which will be here tomorrow. I didn't foresee any problems with Amazon, or I would have added a Han to the TRU order.

Had a live chat with Amazon customer service a couple nights ago. They are adding a month onto the Prime account and upgraded me to one day shipping. Got shipment notification today, Han should be in hand tomorrow!

Why all the buzz about Han Solo? Is it because of the limitations of having only one in a new case? Just wondering...have my first one and 40th wave on found at walgreens.

Han was originally packed in the second wave of the line. He was actually quite easy to find, and even a peg warmer in some areas. Then Hasbro went even further by packing him and Greedo in a two pack, exclusive to Toys R Us. But here we are, three years into the line and a lot of new people are collecting 6". Han dried up and has become somewhat desirable. The original boxed version of him has gotten a little pricey. So for the first time in a couple years, Han is back. On a Vintage style card, packed only one per case. Probably in part to the poor performance the first time around. But now people want him to add to their line up.

He stuck around the Walmart here for a good while when I first moved here. I repeatedly considered buying him, but never got around to it. Krennic would end up being my very first 6" Star Wars figure.

Just found Han at Walgreens, but decided I don't need both this and the original. Would be willing to trade one or the other for a loose ANH Vader (from the display pack) or Jedi Luke. PM me if interested!

I honestly think interest in this thing is going down quickly now. A few days ago he was in stock on Walmart.com for 2 or 3 days. He's been in stock on Kmart.com for several days straight. His aftermarket prices have went down a lot. I think most people who wanted him have him now. I honestly soon see this thing becoming a pegwarmer just like the original release was.

I've tried to add him to my kart several times over the last few days and I always get an out of stock error.

Has anyone posted a side-by-side comparison between the first release of the 6" Han and this 40th anniversary Han? It appears to be the exact same headsculpt with slightly better paint apps, but I can't really be sure.

I have not opened the 40th Han, but looking at him closely in the package, it is the same figure we got in the Orange box.

Agreed, I have the old one open, and the 40th carded but they look the same. That's fine with me as I always liked the sculpt anyway

The sculpt has always seemed fine, but it's just the way the paint apps are applied that ruin the likeness for me. The 40th Anniversary figure looks better than what I remember from the original release, but it still feels like an overly-idealized version of Harrison Ford's face.

Truth be told Black Series isn't exactly going for realism but its own kind of cartoony aesthetic.

Luke, Leia and Ben can all be found for a reasonable price, but Han on a card is ridiculous.

WHY Hasbro, why!!?!

I only ever saw Han once and passed as I already have him.

I already own the original figure, and display it out of the box.

I kind of would like to have 'the first twelve' all on 6 inch scale cardbacks to hang on the wall, but only if I can get them for normal retail costs.

Probably because he was shortpacked like Artoo. I mean, I think he was, wasn't he? I got lucky and found a single solitary 40th Han at Walmart hanging on the pegs some time after the first restock of Wave 1 had sold through; either someone returned him, or someone stashed him for a later purchase but a well-meaning employee stuck him back where they thought he belonged (on the pegs with the other, boxed Black Series figures instead of the bottom shelf). Either way, I snapped the scoundrel up without hesitation.

Makes you wonder if someone at Hasbro is snickering about all this since Han was a first runner up pegwarmer back then behind Slave Leia and Greedo, at least in these parts.
