Oddly enough the Solo basic assortments were fantastic, but neither Hasbro nor retailers know how to manage these toy lines anymore, much to the detriment of the basic line, which is now gone. They clearly should have had every new figure out in two waves, if a third was needed, that's when the carry forwards should have been released. Its utterly foolish to save all these new characters for the very end, and watch them get dumped at discount outlets.
Agree 100%. Though it was nice to find these HTF last wave Solo figures for great prices in discount outlets this Summer/Fall, I would have strongly preferred to have found them all @ retail when they originally came out last year, and would have gladly paid full price for each. It was ridiculous that we had to wait to get most of these cool figures over a year after they came out. And - as it stands, I still can't find Quay Tolsite - one of my most highly sought-after figures; and, I refuse to pay after-market prices for this online.

In general, it's ironic that many toy lines wait until the last wave to dump their best figures. This has happened numerous times in the SW lines over the years (I remember the last POTJ wave in particular) & most recently with these Solo 3.75" figures. I also remember the last wave of the excellent Indiana Jones figures from 2008-2009 (the truly superb Temple of Doom wave) were impossible to find @ retail. Pathetic.

I agree. It's simply the tone of voice and it being an earnest question. You catch more bees with Honey and all that.
But it seems people feel cooler when they can be snarky...

Even still, a pointed question will simply get that vague response. "Unable to comment at this time" So some people likely feel it's pointless.

Han Solo - my brother just can't have enough of those collectibles!
All this talk of toy lines reminded me of how my brother got into chemistry via toys. As an undergrad in college, his prof spoke of plastics used in building toys, and the next thing we knew he was devouring chemistry textbooks on plastics. No one was more pleased than my mom for this transformation!

One last 4 pack could have covered it. Vos, his lead guard Aemon, a guard and Maul.

TROS needs one too with Poe, Finn, Lando and Jannah.
true that. Shame TROS didn't get a 4pk for the home release. And another shame EE couldn't "save" MIA singles of "Hades Joker" and Imperial Patrol trooper or better yet those 2 should've been released in the tube series at the very least if EE couldn't get them. In past, some figs that didn't get out in initial intended line, they were worked into the follow up line.

I don't know why they wouldn't keep a basic line in rotation to cover all media, from Solo stragglers to ROS, CW, and everything in between. Perhaps once the 5 inch GOA line is cancelled there will be a return to 3.75 goodness, something a number of us are actually interested in buying. I certainly will never buy another scale, or support them in any way.

I've been laid off of work for just over a month, and with a Stay Home order in effect I haven't been out to a store for anything but groceries 3 times in the last 5 weeks. It's given me time to catch up on opening purchases made at the tail end of 2019 that got pushed to the back burner.

Solo Movie TIE Fighter & Target 6 pack:
Love these, both releases. The TIE is just as amazing as others have said before. I can't believe I waited so long to open it. One small issue, factory packed in two top canopy covers instead of 1 and 1 bottom piece. So I have a flat bottom TIE right now. I may just have to sand down the tabs and super glue it to the bottom. There's no returning this or exchanging now.

The Target 6 pack I had wanted since it came out, but I just kept passing it up for other things (mainly Transformers). I picked up 2, but wish I had gotten more now. I don't mind the Mimban figures, just don't need them, it's the Stormtrooper, Patrol Trooper and TIE pilot I was after. Love the Patrol trooper.

Great pics. - Thanks for posting. I thought many times about getting the Target 6-pack, but only really wanted the Patrol Trooper - and couldn't justify the cost for just that one figure. I agree completely that it's a excellent figure/character design. It never came carded in the 3.75" line, either. So, I'm kind of regretting not getting this - even though I do have the great 6" version.

I doubt this will ever happen, but ever since I saw Solo I've really wanted an Imperial Patrol Trooper (with bending knees) and Speeder Bike set. That was such a great scene in the movie. In the unlikely event this is ever released, I'll get two of them ;)

^ and to add salt to wound sort of speak, a single packed Imp ptrol trooper x2 was planned for a 5th wave w/ the infamous 'hades joker" x1 fig and a few wv4 reissues- like 2x Quays, 2x mudtroop Hans et al. I think it was dorkside, amazon and toywiz all took pre-orders for that wave too but DS updated listing to the ERG, Becket, Val wave. Amazon just recently after 18months, finally cancelled my "HJ" preorder

Rumors floating around about the possibility of Donald Glover doing The Calrissian Chronicles for Disney+.
Not that Hasbro has done a ton for The Mandalorian and that show has been a bonafide hit, but maybe, if true, it could mean another chance for some of the Solo characters to get made.

Yes, but who? We already got the main cast, and i feel that if a show did happen that we wouldn't likely see any of the characters we saw in the Movie. They probably would be all new to accommodate the new story, and TBH there weren't that many left from Solo that I really needed.

That's also totally dependent upon whether the show is good enough to warrant devoting a line, look how long they waited to release Mando related merchandise. If it isn't as well received we may get nothing at all, or simply a redo of Lando and the opposite main character?

Would it be pre- or post-Solo? If it's the former, we could get L3 or Dryden, and if it's the latter I could see Qi'ra or Maul showing up.

Hey does anyone have (or could direct me to) some pictures of these or the other 5poa figures next to vintage Kenner figures?

Having a heck of a time finding any. I was kind of thinking of doing some customs/repainting them so that they matched the older stuff, but I’m not sure about how they look next to them in terms of size/proportions.

Thank you!

The Solo movie figures are highly detailed, and really don't resemble the Kenner line, but the Saga Legends & Mission Series lines from around 2013/2014 did. In the photo archives, you can see some Kenner comparisons:

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I’ve looked at all of the figures and I think most of the 5poa stuff is definitely too detailed but I’ve seen a few that I’m interested in trying to do some different paint apps on. Also interested in the Rogue One line. Young Lando and Jyn Erso I think could work. Also interested in Qi’ra. Really size is my major question. Happen to have any? Any idea how they compare in terms of size/proportion?

Now that you mention it, young Lando would actually work well, especially if you replaced his cape with custom vinyl, in the Kenner style. Jyn would likely work, but very doubtful with Qira. I do own the vast majority of 5 POA, and really enjoy them. When it comes to proportions, the Kenner figures will almost always have larger heads and thicker limbs. Nearly all modern SW figures have far more realistically sculpted proportions compared to the action figures of the 70s/80s. Young Lando is roughly the same height as my Retro ANH Luke, but the bulk on Luke is obvious compared to the slim proportions of the Solo version of Lando.

Haha! Thank you for the extra information. Yeah even with the Kenner figures being thicker figures than modern, Bespin Luke was always kind of a big boy. It bothered me as a kid that he was larger than Bespin Han. If I wanted to play with him, I’d use Endor Han so it looked more realistic.

In your opinion, what disqualifies Qi’ra? How does she compare in size to vintage Leia figures or Jyn Erso?

Thanks for all of your help by the way.

I agree with @darth_sidious . Here is a link to a post I made a year ago. Picture has the first retro figures with the Mission Series Luke in Stormtrooper disguise.

Thanks for the reply! That’s a great Stormtrooper Luke actually.

Ultimately the goal is to have fun trying to paint them and add some of the new movie characters with the old. I definitely like those Saga legends guys but at the end of the day they’re all characters I already have on my shelf. I thought it’d be fun to try to “retro-fy” some of the newer characters.

You're welcome.

LOL...big boy, yeah he's thick. I went to the archive and pulled the figures you mentioned, and here they are next to a couple of Retro figures. Jyn & Lando work well with their straight limbs and basic headsculpts. Qira is too modern in my opinion, especially with the detailed skirt and jacket, but if you can find her at a discount store, why not give it a try? Some of the 5 POA flew up in price on the secondary market, while others can be had at discount outlets for a few bucks. I'm a customizer as well, so I'll occasionally pick up bargain figures to experiment with.

Holy smokes! Thank you for taking a picture. Wow Qi’ra is pretty tiny. This is really helpful thank you.

I’ll be sure to share with you after I make my retro-fying attempts. I think I’m going to try all three. But I think you were spot on in your assessment of who will really work. 👍

Today at my local Five Below I noticed some new stock of the Solo 2-packs. All of them including Rebolt and hound.

They also had the 5POA Solo single carded figures featuring Val, Beckett, Rio, etc. Though the pegs were quite full I didn't see Han Mimban or Que Tolsite unfortunately. Not that I'm even looking for any of them. I got what I needed the 1st time they showed up at Five Below.

I also saw the small Forcelink Solo Falcon for $5. The one that is kind of model kit sized.
