Just how new/old are these figures? I've never seen them before in stores.

They were released in 2007.

Im very excited for the new The Goonies figures. These look great. I hope they come carded. From what I can understand Mezco does stuff like this in a boxed set with some backdrop pieces too usually? But their upcoming Batman TAS figures are carded. We will see, I hope they come carded even if the do come in a multipack box.
These will be great, there's very little The Goonies merch. I have the ReAction figures from a few years ago and they are great. It was disappointing that NECA only did Sloth and Chunk, they are a great set, but I was hoping they would do the rest.

Super-Sloth! 😸

Looks like preorders are starting today. Cant wait for these ones.

EE has them up as well. You can see the cards are retro but shared artwork for all the characters, which is a bummer.

Yeah I would have preferred individual characters. But at least they used the Theatrical Poster. So I like that.

These are WAY too pre-posed for 5POA. There's basically only one good position for all the figures.

Yeah, thay are totally neat! And if they were only about $12ish max I'd consider them, but I'm not paying $20 for an $8 figure.

I'd seen something about a Legacy sequel to Goonies getting made soon and releasing in 2026. Not something I personally ever wanted, kind of loses all its charm when the kids are all grown up, but there's always one saving grace to these nostalgia bait film sequels (that often end up pretty bad or unoriginal in the long run) ...and that's new toys for the original film. So personally, I'd say hold off on Goonies if these aren't doing it for you. I have a gut feeling we'll be getting some really good Goonies toys from the original film come 2026.

This news is one of the things with viral news and social media. You cant tell whats real and what isnt.

Happily this news was not! ;)

Yes.

There are always a lot of fake film news on socials. Someone makes a fake poster and people share and like it, it goes on all the time
Yeah it def. does happen a lot. Don't forget Youtube too with fake trailers, usually those are easier to spot though via having to repurpose a lot of scenes from already existing films.

One I was sure would end up BS was the Beetlejuice sequel. I mean, for how many years was this rumored to happen? Heck...I take that back. It was more like decades. And it was always, always fake. So finally, when I saw rumors increasing for it again, I didn't pay any attention to it. And that time...it WAS real. I came to to "I'll believe it when a real trailer comes" mentality.

Yeah they are usually easy to see through. But they are annoying.

That said, Im sure they will do another The Goonies soon, they seem to re-do everything.... zzzz

In fairness, they basically already have in ways, just with different spins. Skeleton Crew looks to be basically just Goonies in a Galaxy far, far away. Stranger Things is clearly inspired by it in a lot of ways, though it gives its own touch. Super 8 also took some from it. There's another movie coming out too that seemed akin. Older one but Monster Squad did the same.

Some movies don't need a sequel, and most don't need one that's 30+ years later. It was just fine as a standalone adventure film, and nothing could add to that experience IMO. A sequel in these times would just leave a sour taste to the IP.

I also don't see a need for a "remake", just make another adventure film about different characters. Studios only see brand recognition but when you go to that well too often with very poor result you only taint that well for several years. I feel if a sequel was to have ever been made for this or just about anything from the 80's or 90's it should have been done long before now as writers have forgotten what makes a good story.

I keep saying this but if they want to remake something try some of the older "bad" movies and make them "better", Wing Commander might be a good start.
