Just saw these get announced on S7's Instagram account.
I was a little surprised, given they already have a vintage 3.75" line.
I've gotta admit, as much as Reaction's current price chagrins me, I really dig the sculpts. They're probably going to see a few bucks from me.

I'm not sure why anyone would want a 5POA GI JOE. That's baffling to me.
To be honest I really wanted the “Grunt Guys” which is what me and my brother called them. Also the first appearance of the Baroness from the first issue of the comic and the Mass Device mini series in the blue jump suit.

Meh. I had integrated toy lines as a kid. This doesn't phase me at all and sort of makes perfect sense.

I used toys from all sorts of lines together in the old days (Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Star Trek, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Clash of the Titans, Dragonriders of the Styx, Crystar, M.A.S.H., Military One and GI Joe to name some).

Plus, within the international GI Joe community, Action Force featured a mix of Star Wars-style figures and o-ring articulated re-uses. GI Joe Extreme had that basic mid-90s articulation too. So within GI Joe there's precedent.

Now, if they made o-ring classics, I'd buy those too, but Super7 said Hasbro has that box reserved for themselves. Super7 asked!

Just saw Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes up for preorder on Targets website. They look pretty cool to me, so I ordered them, the Spock exclusive and Borg. I've never ordered this line before, but I just felt compelled on these figures for some reason.

Yeah, but you are older now and know better. We were dumb when we were kids. :giggle: J/K

I plan to populate my retro Kenner Cantina with the Borg and Spock and see if I can rip open the multiverse and see the Watcher.. :)

On the topic of Joe and these Super7 figures being 5POA, Hasbro themselves did 5POA figures just some time ago. When the toyline for the Retaliation movie came out the initital wave of vehicles had pack in drivers that were all just 5POA figures. It was funny that the series would create the best modern Cobra Commander with great ARAH stylings, good articulation and swap out heads and also made maybe the least articulated Cobra Commander main line figure Hasbro has ever done.

Every time I try to stop buying toys, NECA and Super7 bring me back in.

I have to admit, I'm actually really impressed with the sheer chaos of Super7. They have made a 5POA, deluxe set, of an obscure character that I doubt even most heavy GI Joe fans remember, and are asking $75 for it. It actually kinda makes me want to buy it just out of respect.

But seriously, while I'm not interested in THIS set, I'm very interested in what it bodes for other sets and figures from the cartoon.

I'll buy the eff out of a Viper figure. You know what Viper I mean.

^ The one that cleans windows?

I ended up buying the expensive set and do believe part of my decision is, like you said, out of respect for having the ***** to go there. Then again I LOVE Sunbow and absolutely remember the character and scene.

There's no way Hasbro ever goes that deep with a cut on an O-Ring figure. And I am VERY curious to see what other deep cuts await. So many possibilities.

Found these at Books A Million today. I found them Monday as well. I picked up both a Cobra trooper and the Joe Trooper. Got the Arctic rescue set from Super7 last night. I agree cool set. I would like to see S7 do vehicles that were specific to the cartoon. Vehicles that never made as a toy. Include some from the comics as well.

I've got my first batch of Reaction Joes in the mail from EE right now, who also have wave 2 up for pre-order.

The Arctic Rescue sled is frankly awesome and one of my favorite toy purchases over the past year. Worth every penny.

so far I only have the 2 Target Exclusive figures of Snake Eyes and Vac Metal Cobra Commander but they are cool looking figures. I might have to get more to add to my 3.75" collection.

Same here.

I just discovered this toy line yesterday. Apparently I live under a rock.

I happened to be in a target and saw Duke, Stormshadow and a cobra guy on the peg. I immediately loved it until I saw the price point.

These are $6.99 figures. I'd be willing to pay $10 because I've been desensitized to that price point with the Star Wars retro.

So what is up with all Super7 figures commanding an $18 price point? I'm guessing it is due to copyrights they probably have to pay with each figure they produce since they make figures across movie genres.

So frustrating because I love the concept of a 5 POA simplified Joe without O-rings to worry about.

The sadest part is that I can afford the $18, it's the principal of it all that makes it difficult for me. I'm used to buying at least 3 of each: one loose for display, one carded, one to use for customization.

Yeah the price is high because of the nature of this type of figure (lower production, higher costs, indie company, licensing fees). Understanding that I still don't want to pay full price. I have bought all but a few exclusive reaction figures on sale. Just a waiting game in which you have to maybe miss a figure or two but in the end don't pay more than you feel good about.

recently picked up Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Destro and the Baroness. I already had the Target exclusive figures of both Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander.

my only gripe with the Artic sled is the absence of Timber. otherwise it's an awesome set.

^ True. I am wondering how they're going to get Timber into the line since he might be too big/costly for a regular card. Obviously the sculpt already exists.

I also noticed the Arctic Rescue set sold through at EE. Hopefully that's a good sign for future boxed sets.

I'm guessing that Super 7 is holding out for a V2 release of Snake Eyes (which would really only need a new headsculpt and they can use the body from the Target version) and they will make Timber to be packaged with Snake Eyes that way and they will most likely make it an exclusive.

^ LOL.

Wave 3 looks to have a Timber-less v2 Snake Eyes, though possibly in comic colors to start.

I really want to see the card backs for this wave.

another Cobra Commander ? that makes 3 Cobra Commanders released so far and still no hooded CC. I definitely want the Flint and Firefly. Snake Eyes looks great as does Baroness. not sure about Roadblock though. I'd love to see Gung-Ho get a release as well as Spirit but I'm guessing if they make Spirit it will be without Freedom as Snake Eyes is without Timber.

Hooded CC isn't happening anywhere because Hasbro isn't allowing it to happen for ethical/PC reasons. This is discussed in a Brian Flynn interview from a couple months ago.

The army builder(s) in this wave have yet to be revealed.

I'm definitely in for Roadblock, Flint and Baroness. CC is a pass. Firefly is TBD as I want Sunbow only and he looks like he has comics coloring. Same with SE. Card backs will say definitively.

well that is sad news indeed. I actually would love to have a hooded version regardless of the ethical/PC reasons. it's a character based on a fictional cartoon TV series.

Agreed, it's pretty ridiculous.

Re:Wave 3, I do appreciate the fact the Cobra logo is centered on the commander. I'm not a fan of when its more centered to the flap than to the body.
