Hey, what helicopter is that?

It's an Elite Force, I think. I bought it at Target long ago...

I too love that first photo. I just recently re-read that story line about Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow invading Cobra Island to kill Zartan. I think that was one of the top three story lines of all 155 issues in the Marvel series.

You got it. That was actually Ripcord disguised as Zartan inside the Firebat. Jovial Jediknutt

Does anyone have any other pics? I like this thread, hate to see it go down.

I'm getting my dioramas back up soon after the move, I have a few small Joe ones up now. I can post a few pics and toss them up later today in between putting together kids toys.

This is part of my growing Cobra collection. Primarily im updating my remaining childhood Cobra figures, but i also have a few army builders.
Next on my list is Buzzer, Croc Master & Crimson Guards.

While sorting through my old Joes today, I decided to snap a few comparison pics. Kinda cool to see the old and new together I thought. I have to admit, as much as I like the new BAT, I still prefer the original!

I'm sure I posted these before somewhere else, but here's what's left of my vintage JOEs from when I was a kid. The rest were buried in the sandbox or suffered broken crotch/rubberband disease long ago.

If you still have the ones missing rubber bands, I have a bunch of replacement o-rings I could hook you up with.

Are all new GI Joe figures taller than the vintage ones?

Yep. Vintage Joes are 3.75 inches tall, and Modern Era Joes are around 4 inches tall.

Edit: solid_strider beat me to it. ;b

Let's see some more pictures! =)

Here are my Joes, currently displayed on comic box lids 'til I have time to build some wood shelves this summer.

I don't know if anyone's thought of this with the Best of 80's Duke, but I thought it was a pretty good idea. If only his arms fit in there!

Probably not since there are a lot of people that still can't find the best of the 80's set or just don't want to pay secondary market prices for it. Funny pics though.

And the award for Best Use of a Lame Modern Era Duke goes to...(opens envelope)...solid_strider! XD

Thanks. I really have to give the credit to Hasbro for an ill-conceived but well-executed idea! Here's how I have most of my stuff set up at the moment.

Breaker has an Episode III Obi-Wan head, and it looks much better than his actual noggin. ;b

Nice setup, and excellent idea on Breaker! Now that I think about it, SW heads would be good on those greenshirt bodies! And if you happened to have extra Imperial Knights, Joe heads would be good on those too!

Here's a better pic of Breaker with Obi-Wan's head. Most of the ball joint on the figure's neck has to be sliced away for the head to not sit high, but the helmet fits great and I think the head looks much better than Breaker's actual head. When I get around to painting the beard black it'll be perfect. =)

Vintage breaker had brown hair and beard

Thanks. =)

Yeah, but when he had a beard in the Marvel comics, it was black.

I'll likely leave it brown now that I've mulled it over, though, 'cause I suck at painting and don't want to screw it up. ;b

I'm going to pick up a Bail Organa the next time I'm at Kroger or Wal-Mart, and try his head on Clutch.

Edit:

By the way, here's my custom Blowtorch! Breaker body, Blowtorch head, single-card Torch backpack and flamethrower.

I posted this on HISSTank but I thought you guys might like this too:

I picked up a Golden Compass Lord Asriel (Daniel Craig's character) at Big Lots the other day because I thought the head sculpt was pretty good. I did a head swap with a couple of Joes and thought he looked pretty cool. Here's a sort of Casino Royale-ish intro James Bond:

The head also looks good on a Wild Bill/Strato Viper body:
