GG answers to the Clone Exclusives.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't fly to Japan or Europe to get either one of those exclusives. The plane ticket alone would be the price of these on ebay...

Q&A Regarding Gentle Giant World Tour Exclusives

We’ve gotten a lot of questions via email, blog and phone and we hope to answer some of the most common questions. After numerous discussions, it has been decided that we will proceed as stated.

All the exclusives (World Tour Clone Commanders, Celebration IV, San Diego Comic-Con and World Tour Traveling Exclusives) will be able to be purchased in the same manner (Except the Blister Event, Forbidden Planet Event, and SWS Animated Classic Animation Boba Fett Maquette):

- Pre-order purchase through our website for pick-up at the convention (Must have a Regular or Premiere Guild membership to pre-order)

- First come, First serve purchase at the convention, limit one of each item per person

- Raffle purchase for Premiere Guild Members through our website after the convention

The following measures are in effect in an effort to make these items widely available as possible:
- Do not place a pre-order for pick-up if you will not be attending any of the Conventions.
- Limit one pre-order per person. Limit one of each item per pre-order.
- Must bring printout of Confirmation number/email and a valid photo ID to convention center to pick up order. Name/address on photo ID must match name on order confirmation, or you will not be able to pick up order.

- You CANNOT have a friend/family member/neighbor bring your ID/Confirmation to pick up your pre-order.

- If you already pre-ordered the exclusives, you may not get a second of any of the exclusive items, as all badges will be punched when pre-order is picked up.

- All Premiere Guild Members can enter each individual raffle as well as the raffle for the Clone Commander 5-pack in November. The outcome of one raffle does not affect the outcome of future raffles.

- Only one pre-order/raffle entry per club member is permitted. Individuals that have duplicate accounts will automatically be disqualified from the pre-order and raffle process.

So basically nothing has changed...

They are a piece of work over there...

Re: GG Blog Updated

Such a freaking stupid idea by GentleGiant. They would make much much more money if they made 5,000 of each bust.

Re: GG Blog Updated

Typical their response is on Friday the 13th. What a true Horror show this. It is in true horror show fasion, that there will be a sequel.

Oh, and guess who the victims are?

Re: GG Blog Updated

Meh, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. It's how it's been with them for a while. The only thing that would surprise me is if they let Guild member's order first.

Re: GG Blog Updated

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that after the avalanche of feedback that they would listen to their customers. Simply amazing

Re: GG Blog Updated

I honestly believe that if every single person that walked by the GG booth at these conventions gave them the finger, they still wouldn't care.

Re: GG Blog Updated

They basically told us the same junk we already knew. That didn't answer anyones questions...

Re: GG Blog Updated

Guys, the really sad part to the Gentle Giant saga, is they probably think we are the most unappreciative fans for not being excited over the many [censored] ways they are giving us to get these Commanders.

Re: GG Blog Updated

This is %#!@# !!, you can dress it up,put a bow on it and parade it around with a smile on your face it's still %#!@#,O'well I can always find other things to spend money on,plus the other items I want are actually available for retail
grin.gif
Stupid company's and their ability to dress poop(replace poop with %#!@# ) up is amazing to me! "look our poop(%#!@# ) now comes with a red bow"

Re: GG Blog Updated

DJ, I really hope that Gentle Giant does what they are doing with the Commanders to the fans of this company who back them on every move, on a product they want.

I know people are tired of complaints, but these exclusives are beyond absurd at this point. I am so pissed that they can make a 3rd version of Fett, but only a small # of Commanders? Smaller edition size than Zuckuss? What a joke!

Well I havent stopped yet, but I have slowed way down on there stuff. Just picking up a few bust here and there but thats it. My money has been going to Medicom.

I have. It actually feels good in a way. Collecting GG has become more stressful for me than fun, so I'm finished with them until they improve. Cancelled all my pre-orders. It sucks, because the upcoming Jango looks great but I'm sticking to it. I'll just get the Medicom Jango instead.

We will still continue to buy their products. Yes.

I have decided to stop pre-ordering GG stuff. I am not jumping ship yet. But, prices always seem to come down later on, and after the Obi fiasco; I have lost faith in GG.

I used to work for a company that had a motto: Customer is KING. This company is now one of the largest in it's market.

Gentle Giant doesn't seem to be listening, the revolting has begun. Let's see where they are in the next couple of years. They could become the modern day Applause company, making Happy Meal toys for the big 3 (McD's,Bk,& TB).

JediMisfit138, I canceled my pre-orders for Jabba, Rebo Band, ESB Vader statue, Classic Fett, Bubo the Owl, 3 POTC maquettes, etc.

I will still get a few busts, as I've been collecting for years and some of the busts coming out fit into the scenes I want to display. I also will try my best to get the Commanders, then I am done.

I am happy that MR is doing the mini-helmets, as I will get some of those as well as more Medicom RAH and VCD. I also am digging the SSC Dio line.

I think in a few years if this exclusive trend starts getting worse (if that's possible) or goes into their other lines, that's when the company will be more "customer friendly" because the backlash will get even worse. I always find it to be a shame that it takes people, companies, etc. to face harsh conditions in order to change.
frown.gif

Wow, that's a lot. I didn't have nowhere near as much on pre-order, just a few busts, but it's nice to see other collectors practice what they preach. I've gotten annoyed in the past with GG and said I was done but then came back for more, but not this time. The clone commanders busts were the last straw.

JediMisfit138, you can only take so much [censored] from anyone.

I am still amazed that GG is more concerned about exclusives for a few Cons than satisfying their fans? Fans who in essence support the company the rest of the year by buying all their products, joining their PG club, etc.

They have no clue over there.

I have completly stopped pre ordering anything from them and only will purchase what I see in person as I still want to complete my idea of the OT characters,it's weird,I honestly lost interest in most GG's offerings awhile ago, quality, bait and switch and screwing us got old for me,I still come here for the people and the good coffee

Thats been my tact. I want to buy their stuff (I'm a sucker I know), but I have pretty much stopped preordering... I have no idea how this will impact anyone, but I allows me to make sure I'm getting what I paid for...

I suppose I should thank GG for their crappy service. I recently have started looking around and realized just how much money I've spent on GG stuff. I've also realized I don't have room for any more of it. They've given me pretty good reasons to pull the plug on collecting their stuff.

I started by collecting their exclusives. One way or another, I've been able to get every one. When they put them up for sale on their site, I was always able to get one. Now that I've paid $50 to be in their club, I've lost every raffle they have done and have nothing to show for the money I've spent.

Also, hearing the stories about how GG stuff is yellowing or how the chrome busts are flaking off, I'm wondering how the rest of them will deteriorate over the years. I spent several hundred dollars on a carded 12 back C-3PO figure, now the bubble is yellowing. That's a lot of money to have invested in something that has a limited shelf life.

I have a feeling in a few years GG will be used as a textbook case for how to drive customers away. It just shows how much Sideshow has their act together. I'm all for exclusives, but GG has overdone it.

Scott

Well they have saved me alot of money also as I am now down to just 12 of their items (3 of them I will be selling). Only item I will be picking up this year is the Jango bust so I can display with my Jango blasters. So all in all I will have 10 items - a very far cry from my completist metality I had not to long ago
crazy.gif

I still really don't get it, why would GG make these exclusives when they could of made just made 5,000 or so of these and have them availiable to everyone, they would make so much more money and we'll all be happy.

Well we do have 3 good looking Mini-Busts coming(Jango Fett, Princess Leia and Old Obi-Wan Kenobi) thats something to look forward too...right?

GG has to be getting a HUGE kickback from the people running the conventions for them to make so little of VERY popular busts.

Sounds like GG is always eager to gamble continuing business by going for the quick buck rather than making customers happy.

Hardly a wise decision.

I STILL can't get over commander Cody being an exclusive. That is SO STUPID!!!

You know, if you think about if we do quit(don't worry I have no plan on doing that). GG will continue to get new collectors.

I've said it several times and I'll say it again, its like a game when you leave the game more will come to play it.

Its just sad because it seems GG doesn't really care about there customers.

I was thinking about this and wanted to share, I have a side job that consists of making Diorama items for historical military displays(basically tank models w/high end details)anyway,I used to swear by a company called Tamiya of Japan, they had the highest quality and it was almost a given the kit would be perfect for the project I would be doing, then about three years ago their business plan changed, why I don't know but they changed their focus, and their quality slipped So badly that they all but destroyed their blind customer brand loyalty, atleast in the 1/35 scale model area, anyway another company(DML) decided at the time that this (3-4 years ago) was the perfect time to invest into slide mold technology and establish a quality that hadn't been seen before in the model industry, jump ahead to today and the former King Tamiya isn't even in the top 10 anymore, Point is they lost focus as to what made them great! they lost their edge and have since been replaced, this didn't hurt the consumer in the long run it actually help as far as quality ,availibility, and customer service,Now I am happier and have a better product. I see GG becoming Tamiya and someone better coming along and replacing them within 5 years. thankyou for reading
grin.gif

Thats not happening. Just because several people are mad because of how GG has been handling their exclusives lately. I doubt a year ago or so no one was complaining.

After the whole Commander phase is gone everyone will go back to normal. We might lose a few but more will come.

GG has been messing up on exclusives since the beginning. It is too bad they have shown pretty much zero improvement in this area. Now throw in all the more recent quality issues... I think a lot of people will be changing their habits when making GG purchases. Enough to change the way GG does things? Time will tell. I was never a GG completist, but now I am a GG minimalist. The amount of money I wish to spend on SW collecting is pretty limited, maybe even exclusive, and GG has fallen to the bottom of my list. I will buy a Jango Fett mini bust this year, and that is it.

The thing about GG's recent screw-ups on quality is that it doesn't happen too often. In the past year, only the Obi-Wan statue and Qui-Gon bust have been received less than enthusiastically, which means that when something does come out that doesn't reach expectations the whole GG fan community is in an uproar. Low quality and bad likenesses don't come around nearly as often in GG as in other companies IMO.
