Exactly! There’s so many cool aliens from the movies to cover instead of a human and yet another xwing.I don’t understand why there was a petition for this character in the first place. Aren’t there so many more exciting options in the Star Wars Galaxy than a human male pilot in a blue suit?
I guess i have to agree here. Tho very disappointed in how Target handled the Black Series 6 inch Mandalorian Carbon figure. So happy we finally get Merrick's X-wing! I'm glad I held off on trying to customize one myself. I wonder what's going on with his astromech, if one will be included.
I don't mind the Target exclusive - at least its not a Walmart one.
I like aliens and side/background characters as much as the next guy.Exactly! There’s so many cool aliens from the movies to cover instead of a human and yet another xwing.
Hell give me Yoda hut in TVC and I’ll be over the moon happy. THAT would be huge to announced versus a repaint.

This is one of the best screencaps that I can find where you can clearly identify Merrick's X-Wing and make out some details on his droid. It looks like an R2 unit with a silver dome and the main body appears to be red.I am looking forward to this. As for Marrick’s Astro droid we didn’t really see it in the film. So you can use any droid I would think.
Did they say that he’ll be on a card? I assumed he’d just be twist tied to the window box or something.I doubt I will be able to tear Merrick off the card if I only have one. Yes. I know it is the older x-wing mold. Maybe he and the x-wing will be in the Andor series.
I'm in the same boat here. I will 1000% be purchasing this X-Wing, but wish that I didn't have to use the shapeways part to fix the wings. Granted, it will probably be in "landing position" most of the time, but the droopy wings got really old with the Red 5 release.Happy to see this character and vehicle being released. The details and weathering are great. That said, I do wish they would do sth about the droopy wings and weak "s-foil" mechanism. Keep the fuselage, but the rest of the toy needs an overhaul. After seeing that it can be done better, i.e. Poe's x-wing, I'm not all in yet.
Looking at the scene in motion it looks like it's got dark panels, dark blue, or I think black. Certainly darker than R2. Difficult to discern exactly though because of the colour flares from the engines and blaster fire.
For those that don't know ILM originally made two models, of the X-Wing and Y-Wing, to base the life size set pieces on and sent them to London for reference. This was very early when it was still Blue squadron in the script, the X-Wing model was later used in the film (the Y-Wing referred to as Red Jammer as it had red details in stead of gold like the ones used in the film was not reused) but of course it had to be repainted first. The model was Blue Leader with one stripe but was repainted red and an extra stripe added to become Red 2 Wedge's X-Wing. Pics of the original model before it was repainted exist and it looks like that is what this X-Wing is based on, so it should be an easy custom to turn this into Wedge's X-Wing giving us all 3 in Luke's group using this mold since we already got Like and Biggs'.Personally, as an X-Wing fanatic, it’s because this X-Wing is an homage to the original X-Wings from ANH before they changed them to red. .
Exactly. He's a dynamic frontline General, who we see tearing up the battlefield and rescuing the commando team from certain defeat. In addition, he's handsome, sporting that fashionable new blue flightsuit as well that amazing 70s porn-stache. Sadly, he was "too-cool to live", but was recognized as an instant badass by the fandom and is wildly popular.I like aliens and side/background characters as much as the next guy.
But this a heroic supporting character from a well-liked movie who actually does cool sh*t, not just walk across the background for .72 seconds of screentime.
Yeah, I think all this is right. He's a prominent secondary character in the movie and has some great moments in the big battle (which I think most people agree is the highlight of the movie, if not of all the Disney-era movies). He's the kind of character we all know would have come out in early 2017 if they made figures now like they did back in the day.Exactly. That being said, now that I can sit down and write finally, I am beyond thrilled that this is coming out. I'll need to clear more space on the flight deck, but this is the best reveal for me since TVC came back and is a must in my book.
This would make a lot of sense in terms of why they might plan on doing it now. Of course, in another instance of stupid Hasbro timing, I would bet this comes out and runs through its availability cycle before Andor premieres...so people who might get excited about getting this from the show won't be able to find it. Is there a word for anti-synergy?Maybe he and the x-wing will be in the Andor series.
I would like the Poe's Vintage Collection Orange Dreamsicle reused for other ships- it's a better interpretation of its screen equivalent than the T-65 sculpt used for last year's Red 5 and the upcoming Blue Leader- but hopefully one of the more anonymous blue T-70's with a Resistance pilot they haven't made yet, like Jess Pava or maybe a Snap Wexley with removable helmet.Hopefully, this doesn’t mean they release Poe’s Black X-Wing repaint as a Wal-Mart EX or something. I’ve found Target is much easier to find them whereas WM Exclusives might as well be eBay Exclusives to me.
