The more I look at this figure, the more I wonder if the weird half-hood isn’t actually part of it. Take that away, and it looks much better to me.
Not really excited about this figure though since I’m happy with the one I already have from SS.
This one definitely follows the POTF style of sculpting the robe into the legs like the Imperial Dignitary. The SS one is more Star Wars release styled.
I guess it all comes down to style and preference with this one.

Ahhh... Garindan's widowed mother. My favourite character.
I just wish Garindan would answer her calls though or check in on her more often.The dead beat is always on another channel, usually the Imperial comms, so she can never reach him.
Now we are getting her, I have my fingers crossed that maybe they'll do Garindan next?

That photo is definitely not a good one. He is all dark and shadowy.

Without any more photos, I'm already thinking I'll put a full vinyl cape on him. The half hood scarf thing looks silly. Not my favorite design - to me, it doesn't look Kenner-esque, but more like a weird custom. But we'll see once we have a better look and hopefully the rest of the pack is stellar.
I replaced Evazan's gun with a standard vintage blaster in my Creature Cantina to bring it more in-line with Kenner. This one would get the same!

I think that shawl thing was photoshopped onto the picture. It is very weird looking.
Looking past it, the figure has very '84 Emperor vibes to me with the cape sculpted right to the torso and legs. I think I would have preferred the photo without the shop, as it were.

The half hood shroud is accurate. But the figure looks like it’s from the clone wars figure sets.

The whole image appears to be a rendering, maybe a prototype doesn't exist yet? The final product could vary greatly, so I'm not going to be too critical of anything, especially because I like the creative design more than the bootlegs I've seen. I think the shroud makes it look unique, especially when compared to his other 3.75 scale figures. I actually really dig the Emperor style legs, and wish more sculpts incorporated that element into the design process for cloaked characters.

The figure in that pic is simply not good. And that is a shame.
The addition of the soft goods doesn´t make sense, as there is the hood already sculptered to the head. Can´t await what else they come up for the next wave / 6-pack

Just took a couple min to re-watch the scenes with Garindan and honestly I never really even noticed his hood being so big before now.
Regardless, I still think the figure (or rendering) looks a lot better without it.
I can really see the cartoony aspect though after your clone wars comment. Ha ha
Funny enough, I found that the Cartoony Rebels figure for the Imperial AT-DP Pilot looks good next to Vintage so I threw a couple into my Death Star Hangar.

The cloak is not a robe, which makes the legs look stupid too.
This looks bad but the real issue is I don't really care anymore. Too much apathy with anything Hasbro is doing. I have my Stan Solo long snoot so I'm fine.
I have seen it mentioned somehere that @Jayson teased rumors of what the rest of the next 6-pack is shaping up to be. Can anyone share the details here?

I think this reveal is the equivalent of them tossing us a bone, since Retro fans are often left out, and the focus goes to TBS & TVC. I'm wondering if the next set is even tooled yet, because if they had a packaged sample, maybe they would have shown that off, instead of a digital rendering. I honestly don't mind a slow reveal of each new 6-pack, especially if we are only getting one next year.

Granted, a Patrol Trooper is from Solo, and not OT - which wouldn’t fit the theme of an OT themed 6-pack (however Solo is IMO OT adjacent, and personally a favourite of mine which I would love to see done as a Kenner-styled Retro Collection figure).

Yeah... convinced if the other is another Sandtrooper with a different pauldron, they are giving us another Rebel Fleet Trooper.
That’s a great guess, and would fit with an ANH themed 6-pack!

Sentry (or Patrol if using interchangeably and not from SOLO) Trooper, that's a good one. I was thinking of one more like the ceremony guard. As far as a another RFT, Captain Antilles could also fit that bill.
Hobbie though would be ESB, not ANH.

I hope they stick strictly to OT. They've wasted enough time with the other shows and movies and its not like we get a lot of releases. With that being said, perhaps they are staying with the studio "made up names" i.e. Walrus man. Something was said that i noticed. I think Chris said it regarding the Garidan. He said something like he will be release with more of his friends. He said something that lead me to believe more characters from those Mos Eisley scenes. This then, would connect to cantina aliens and "made up names".
I think Captain Antilles ( if correct) gets us to the RFT reuse.
But someone pointed out Arfive Deefour fits, and he checks the box of a reissue, so I am leaning that way now. 6 pack solved?

^ I thought of Arfive Deefour as well but googling old images, its actually Defour and not spelled out until ROTJ cards

^ (simdog) my initial thoughts too, but then, I read Jayson discounting the idea of greedo. Hammerhead, wuher and both snaggs as the 5 "friends" . So friends could be simply a group of any characters kenner missed....and Dr. E retro was not given a kenneresque name like Pig or Goon-Face (in a way, I wished it did)

I certainly hope that the next set doesn't have repaints this soon, doing them back-to-back isn't a good way to build momentum for the line. I'd actually be cool with seeing Antilles eventually but give it some breathing room. If Garindan is the only cantina adjacent character, that'll be a big misstep, but Hasbro is bad with timing as of late.
^ If being closer to Kenner style, maybe not 100% repaints, could be slight retools as well, maybe not as extreme as the kenner bespin guards, but more subtle like the imperial "commanders" vs Tarkin od Han vs Luke stormtroopers. I can see a slight retool of RFT for Capt. Antilles.
Rebel Sentry could be a simple re-card as means to get that fig out for army-builders. Same w/ Sandtrooper if that's a straight repaint or re-card. Maybe the current sandtrooper and RFT are tied to this particular current set so a re-card frees them of that? ...just spit balling ideas TBH
But I do see and get DS' point above even though, likely a year apart, it's still the NEXT set of newbies to be released.

Captian Antillies would need a better head sculpt to replace the current head on the retro RFT.
