<font color="red">Game beginning soon<font color="black">

Here we are at last, this new forum game is about to begin.
Its aim is to entertain you first, and offer you yet another way to appreciate Star Wars

It is question-based, as many games here. You will earn points when answering correctly, and the winners will eventually be offered prizes

Stay tuned for extensive rules.

But there is something rather new with this game.
It is going to be coupled to a website, or rather a page that will, as the game progresses, compile all the information the players will have uncovered with each answered question.
You won't have to follow this external page to play the game, but you will find some clues there if you do

In the end, after the game is finished, this page will keep on living as a reference.

If you want to know more about the "transitions" this game is all about, check the <font color="blue">Star Wars transitions<font color="black"> page.

See you all soon!

<font color="red">The transition game - Rules<font color="black">

Context
Transitions are these visual effects you can see between certain scenes in all SW movies.
This game is all about these scenes, and these transitions.
All seven movies (The Clone Wars theatrical version counts as a movie) will be used in this game.
For more info about transitions, check this game's sister page

Questions
I will post questions on this thread regularly (but with no specific day or time).
All you will have to do is answer on this thread.
Points will be awarded to the first one to answer correctly (or the first two, first three ... it will depend on the question)

Prizes
A ranking and medal system will reward the players with prizes of increasing value, depending on the medal (bronze, silver, gold)
<font color="yellow">[*]<font color="black">Gold medal, won after earning 20 points. You get a small gift.
<font color="gray">[*]<font color="black">Silver medal, won after earning 10 points. You get a trinket.
<font color="orange">[*]<font color="black">Bronze medal, won after earning 5 points. You get a postcard from Toulouse, France.

There still is the rumored Diamond medal, of course
<font color="white">[*]<font color="black">Diamond medal, is it really true?

Here's the first question!
The first three ones two give at least two correct answers will get one point.

Here are 4 scenes: A, B, C, D
linked by a transition to four other scenes: 1, 2, 3, 4

Give the correct order (which scene comes before which?)

A

B

C

D

I had to reread the rules a few times, but after doing the first question, I think I got it. This looks to be a lot of fun.

This looks like a fun game!
I was worried it would be a lot more difficult...
...though this is just the beginning.

And, yes, "i" before "e", except after "c"...
...or when sounding as "ay", such as neighbor and weigh!

Here's the next question.

There are two specific transitions based on sweeping arrows that only appear once each in the same movie.
Here's what they look like (check the transitions page for more details, and a hint)

For one point, can you name the movie and the scenes where these two transitions appear?

You just had to go and say that, didn't you?

Guess I have to go watch me some movies...
Yeah, this is more what I was expecting to find here.
I know, the first question was merely a "Hors d'oeuvre", and I knew I wanted to tease your gray cells in a new (and hopefully fun) way.

Is is too difficult, too insane?
Please tell me ...

All I can say is:
Hey ... It's me!

Right! The movie is Empire Strikes Back, and the transitions are as follows:

Arrow from right to left, immediately after Rieekan says "Prepare for ground assault".

Arrow from top and bottom, after the "You have failed me for the last time, Admiral" "Thank you Lord Vader", etc. scene.

And speaking of Ozzel, is anybody reading the Clone Wars comic? There's some excellent characterization of a certain Major Ozzel, all cowardice and incompetence (not to mention clumsy and stupid).

That's it!
Jorbex, did you engage the "ludicrous movie watching speed", my friend?

LOL! Something like that, but I never could've done it without the huge hint in the website.
Well the website does indeed contain a series of clues for the one who wants to dig a little

I just discovered this thread as I was updating myself on the weekend activity. This sounds like a lot of fun and I forward to participating. I make no promised regarding my ability to answer many questions correctly, but I'll give them a shot. Thanks for putting this all together, Satka! Viva La France!

New question, and not an especially easy one ...

Normally, the transitions used in each movie are more or less distributed so that there are not too many repetitions.

However, there is one movie where a transition is used multiple times in a row.
And there's more: this transition is not used anywhere else in that movie.

I'm asking you, for two points:
- What movie is it?
- What transition is it?
- How many times is it repeated? (hint: it is more than 4 times)

And another hint: this transition is used towards the end of the movie
Additional hint, here

I'll go with Episode III, the transition is the closing circle , and it's used 5 times.

That's not it.
RotJ indeed uses five "sweep from top" transitions, but they are not used in a row ...

Again you found the correct answer

The "closing circle" transition is used at the end of RotS, five times in three minutes!

Check this link to see them, from 2:05:20 to 2:08:20

The "sweep from left" is used seven times indeed in ANH, which is a lot.
But the maximum number of times it is used in a row is "only" three

Here's an easy question, after yesterday's mean one

All these scenes use the same transition.
For two points, can you name this transition?

SW1

SW2

TCW

SW3

SW4 (sorry, the resolution is not great on this one)

SW5

SW6

That would be the straight line sweeping from left to right.
Well Jorbex, it seems you are on a winning streak

And congratulations, you just won a bronze medal! A postcard from Toulouse, France is on the way

This is it!

<font color="blue">Quick trivia:
This transition, the most used one in all seven SW movies, appears 43 times, which equates to 15% of all used transitions!<font color="black">

Excellent! I'm looking forward to a postcard showing one of the many beautiful buildings in Toulouse, with their mauve brick façades...

(And it's a good thing I brought my seven SW DVDs to work today!

Next question

What are the transitions used in these four classic scenes?

Mini rules:
  • You can only post your propositions once, no more
  • All eligible answers will get points, until the next question is posted
  • You will get:
    - 1 point if you provide 2 correct answers
    - 2 points if you provide 3 correct answers
    - 3 points if you provide all 4 correct answers

Scene 2

Scene 3

Scene 4

Hint: The transitions you're looking for are part of this list:
