I believe this is a picture of the figure listed as "Tango":

Picture from the main general discussion thread.

Man... I love the scarif guys. IMO they are the coolest looking troopers in all of star wars. But everyone is different :)

the scarif troopers showed some imagination at least. with this one it's just a black shouler piece and another silly urban guerilla police weapon? mah.

Can't say I really care for this design, will have to see it in hand before I make a decision.

Official Name is First Order Judicial. This is the same figure that was posted in packaging for the Disney Elite line

Shoretroopers, besides desert stormtroopers, were the guys that could afford to get their uniforms stained and dirtied for a change. Heck, they could have been used during the Battle of Endor, but I suppose their qualifications were not to Palpatine's standards since they're not considered one of best legion troops (and you wonder why they weren't present upon his arrival too). :)

As for this one, I wonder if there's a catchy name for this division of stormtrooper, like courttroopers or something. Along with riottroopers, looks like Hux is really fancying himself quite a disciplined regime here.

The first order Stormtroopers have the worst articulation out of all the troopers IMO. Can't really hold their guns two-handed very convincingly, and are very limited in that regard. Unless they improve the articulation on them, I probably won't be buying anymore figures using that mold.

I hope this is a new mold, but based on how the Phase 1 and 2 clones practically all use the same tooling, I'm not holding my breath.

For sure it's known that the head sculpt is different around the mouth.

Not to justify Hasbro's shoddy articulation but there is a quick fix....I've modified many of my FO troopers by cutting away some of the black in the upper arm. It allows the forearm more room to swing up and get that two-handed grip.

Now if we could get double-hinged elbows on ALL troops then we would be in business!

You say that as if Hasbro has consistent articulation.

Nice, thanks for that! I may have to give it a try. Did you use a dremel or did you use a craft knife?

Any special instructions?

Thanks again.

Perhaps I'm just a cheapskate but barring the unique weapon, there's nothing here that couldn't be accomplished with a standard FO trooper, some masking tape and black paint.....

I used a craft knife. And it helps if you heat up the arm in some boiling water first. It'll make the cutting easier and you'll be less likely to force it and cut yourself!
Another option is to boil/pop the forearm right out of the socket and then you'll have an easier time getting a clean cut.
*I take no responsibility for damage to your figures*.... try it on chinese knockoff first if you're unsure.

These are images I found online. Before on the left. After on the right.

Funko ans Hasbro have them as "First Order Executioner" Disney Stores have it as First Order Judicial. They have a precedent for sanitizing scary sounding names in marketing. They did it with some references to the Imperial Death Trooper.

Also, the figure isn't carrying a staff whip. It's more like an axe. Hasbro has it placed upside-down in the image.

should be this:

They tagged them as Advanced Weapons Research troopers, heck they called them that at previous Disney celebrations.

It's a cool name TBH, but it makes them sound like a technical unit as opposed an elite Navy SEAL type unit.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try tonight if I can find the time. I won't be too broken hearted if things go south. The poor posing easily made it among my least favorite Black Series Figures.

Looks like a nice guard figure. I hope these complement rather than replace the TFA Riot Troopers though as they're pretty decent for CQ guards too :)

Thanks for that. It was an easy mod and worked like a charm!

I didn't quite cut quite as much as those pics, and maybe should have, but it worked well. I used a black permanent marker to blot out the white bits that remained and "paint" them black again. It was a big improvement.

Thanks!

Lazy "exclusive" figure. Slap some black paint and a confusing accessory, but not fix arm articulation problems? Nah, I'll get one, but I wont army build it.

Not sure I like that new head sculpt. Looks oversized and like someone took a heatgun to it and made the faceplate droop.

I mean I still have like 6 of them, but they've all gone under the knife to improve the range of motion.
At $30 a pop we shouldn't have to cut our action figures up just so they can hold an accessory.
