Finn - Walmart

I like to think that super articulation IS standard articulation.

word!
10+poa

As much as I enjoy super articulation, I would be perfectly happy if Hasbro gave us a happy medium. More than 5 POA, but not crazy 15+ points. It should keep costs down, but still give us the most popular articulation. Ball jointed head, Ball jointed shoulders, ball jointed elbows, waist, hips and ball jointed knees. I can live without ball joints in the hips. Swivel is fine. They can skip ankles and wrists too.

Definitely agree about ball jointed hips. I quite dislike them. Ball-jointed wrists are overkill. Swivel is fine.

I went ahead and ordered Finn and Rey.

I think Finn can make a great Rebel Officer or maybe a spacer/smuggler.

I also want to get a spare OT Stormtrooper helmet to give him. I think he's partially based on Stormtrooper X and could make a great retconned custom.(I think ST X was white)

Other than that, he could always be Chance Calrissian. :{D

Ball hinged you mean. But yeah the wrists and hips arent necessary. Bom Vimdin is a perfect example. He could use a torso joint though.

I got Finn today. And like the other BS TFA figures he needs to be modified to hold a rifle better.

His legs are fine, but the ball hinged hips give him a wide seated position.

And should his shoes be white Stormtrooper boots? And the Stormtroopers are supposed to be wearing a body glove under the armor.

A classic trooper helmet fits him perfectly. I need to get a spare to give him to make him Stormtrooper X. :{D

His black "tracksuit" is the bodyglove. As for the shoes, I guess the calf armour is a separate piece?

For that custom, you'll probably have to either widen the hole in his neck or grind down the Stormtrooper's neck peg.

I'm going to use a removable classic ST helmet for his Stormtrooper X look. I just need to either mold and cast one or buy that AOTC Imperial accessory pack that has one.

I tried one of the Vintage ST's helmets and it fits perfectly. And other than the black track suit, there's not much to change color-wise. I don't mind my ST X being black instead of white. :{D

I guess since the FO updated the armor, they updated the bodyglove to a tracksuit?

I said boot, but I should have said shoe.

I watched the scene where he wakes up on Jakku just now.

The shoes are white till it shows him see the town.

I guess there's removable armor/leather on the shoes?

I see it more as a continuity error though.

But hey, maybe Jakku has a greyish clay under the sand that is slowly dirtying up his shoes? :{O

It's funny you mention Finns shoes since that was a plot point that was cut out. It's still in the deleted scenes from TFA but basically it's how Han realizes Finn was former First Order

It's even more ironic that his shoes were ever part of the plot and they're actually a plot hole. He's got sneakers on instead of storm trooper boots. I've heard all sorts of convoluted exuses as to why but none of them make sense. Even if they cut the "Han recognized the storm trooper boots" scene out...wouldn't he just be wearing white storm trooper boots regardless of whether or not Han notices them? "Oh the storm trooper boots have removable covers". Removable covers? What? From a production perspective why would you design "different shoes for Finn"?

Which negates the reason Han tell him Women always find out the truth. Sure he might have got a gut feeling since he's a scoundrel himself, but it does feel out of place w/o a connection.

I think the best explanation they could have given is a removable piece of clothing/armor that covered the shoe. Like in ww1&2, the soldiers had those things around their ankles. I don't know what they're called. But maybe that's something similar to Finn's shoes? He had removed a white piece covering the grey shoe underneath?

Disney be like: 'Now THIS, is continuity!' :{P

They should make a Finn figure that all the armor comes off and he doesn't have the jacket on. And they can make a white piece that comes off of his shoes. :{D

If you look at the stills or production photos of the first order boots, there's no cover on them or room for covers. I believe it's just poor communication in the outfit designs during production.

Yeah I had already said earlier that it's a continuity error. A discrepancy in the film. ;{D

I just think that if they want to retcon/explain it, the easiest thing is to say the boots have a removable piece of white armor/leather. :{D

Not as though there weren't continuity errors throughout the other 6 films. Never mind the insane number of retcons throughout the old EU. People in glass houses and all that...

If by people, IF you mean me, I didn't say or compare it to the OT or the PT. I was making an observation about TFA. It's a bizarre continuity error because it got by so many people without it being noticed. If I were the actor or stunt performers I think I'd go to get dressed and ask "wait...where did these sneakers come from?".

Wow....well...I guess I know the answer to "what's new?"

I'm thinking of picking up another Finn for a custom Poe. $6 is hard to beat. Using cassian as a base looks pretty easy :)

I thought I had replied to you, but it seems to be missing now.

No, I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to Kyp, whose bit I quoted makes it seem he believes Disney is the only one who makes errors in their films while simultaneously holding themselves above everything else.

The shoes thing did bug me. Why make them look so different? Maybe Boyega didn't like the boots because they weren't comfortable or something.

Curse the no edit! I had never really thought about Finn's shoes until the point was brought up here. I did always think his black body suit looked too baggy though.

Yeah, it looks more like a tracksuit. It seemed odd and out of place.

Yeah, several posts were deleted...though nothing pertinent to the topic.

I thought they would have notified someone if their post was deemed too far? Mine did include a bit of mud-slinging as well as some relevant stuff about Finn's Reeboks. Oh well, guess it's easier for the mods to just delete the entire post.

Walmart Canada has a huge blowout so thought I'd do this for fun. Don't care about the articulation which is why I used the Titanium Rey. It's just gonna be a display piece anyways. Didn't want to waste a BS Rey for this. Finn was $2 CDN and Rey was $6 CDN so it's not bad cause I get a nice stand with pegs for it.

What are the chances we might (someday) see this rereleased in TVC?

I'm interested in your opinions, and I'm asking the same question for a few other Walmart-exclusive TBS figures.

I know TVC is currently all about "The Mandalorian." And I know this Finn was quite the pegwarmer. But we don't yet have a TVC Finn.

Personally, I'd prefer a TROS Finn first. But is Hasbro more likely to repackage leftover stock on TVC cards? (Or is that not how things work?)

Thanks.

Hasbro could at least sweeten the pot by giving us a new photo-real-sculpted head for this Finn. Worth it for TVC?

I'd say that since Hasbro loves repacks that they are pretty damn likely at some point, perhaps after they're done celebrating Rogue One's 5th. I think they were just trying to give people a break from those characters as it appeared they weren't the greatest of sellers or the fondest of movies. Personally I'm fine with never seeing them released again, I would rather they make a new Poe and Finn in their alternate attire so I guess TROS releases would be fine. Though they are still extremely low on my want list behind 100 other figures.

I cannot think of one "Walmart" TBS figure that I'd want reissued, I wouldn't mind seeing Leia (D'Qar Gown) especially with better looking head sculpt at some point. But I'm not actively campaigning for it. Now there are several non Walmart TBS figures I would certainly like to see reissued, such as Commander Wolffe and Pablo-Jill but that's about it. Because TBS was 99% repacks of previous lines anyways so by that time most of use had gotten our fill of them. The only standout figure that I think would be a winner is the INC

And no there is no such thing as leftover stock that get re-carded, it's assumed that unsold product eventually gets destroyed. The most likely reissues are of figures that were recently used and that Hasbro has easy access to, and when a new mold is made they have to utilize whatever existing molds that are in that same factory when making up a wave. So they don't really have the "freedom" to use just any sculpt, it's wholly dependent on which factory gets said new mold. Which unfortunately always seems to be the one with that horrible Han Solo sculpt...

I would say 'Pretty Darn Good'.

Of the 80 figures in the 3.75" Black Series line, 33 have already been reissued on TVC cards. It's kind of a glaring omission that Finn hasn't been on a TVC card yet, given he was one of the 'Big Three' of the sequel trilogy. I expect his TBS figure will be reissued at some point.

To update my last post. 20 of the 29 Walmart exclusive Black series figures have been repacked as TVC. The remaining figures are: Ahsoka Tano*, Boba Fett Prototype*, Finn (Jakku), FO Stormtrooper Executioner, Han Solo (Starkiller Base), Ponda Baba*, Princess Leia (D'Qar), Resistance Tech Rose, and Sandtrooper*

* Denotes initial release in TVC

I would expect to see all of them on TVC at some point.

I still don't own this figure, it felt like a bit of a dud, and I recall a few people said it was prone to breaking, so I just bought the basic release. I would be shocked if it were ever repacked, considering it was a pegwarmer - I actually don't expect to see anything from the list above repacked. I could see prototype Fett, but they'd repaint the new sculpt most likely. That said, I have nothing against Finn per say, I just don't think the old figure would sell well with new deco. A figure based on TROS would likely move though, shame this cant be kitbashed.

I think your math is off a little because both Ahsoka and Ponda were already in TVC. As for Prototype Boba I'd prefer a repaint of the new VC186 sculpt with appropriate accessories added over a BS reissue. Also for ST Han I'd prefer his main look over his Hoth 2 look repacked, but that's just me. The same goes for Finn with an all new look. Honestly with how some of those peg-warmed like crazy for 2 years I'm in no hurry for a repeat, and feel that we need a break from them for a spell while focusing on different areas for now.

If Hasbro wants to get those characters out again I'd prefer all new looks as opposed to repacks.

Right. I annotated those 4 that were released in TVC 1.0, then reissued in the Walmart Black Series, but not yet reissued in TVC 2.0

Of the 20 Walmart exclusive figures from the that were reissued as TVC 2.0, five were already released in TVC 1.0 (Ackbar, Vader, Royal Guard, Endor Han, General Lando), and you can split hairs over whether the Tusken Raider (VTSC), or Jedi Luke (deleted scenes vs. Jabba's Palace) count.

The point was, Hasbro has been dipping into the 3.75" Black Series when it comes to reissues, particularly the Walmart exclusive ones. So I expect to see the remaining 9 reissued in TVC at some point. Not that I want them to - I just expect them to.

It would be nice to see them going back and looking at the Legacy collection figures for reissue, as they were mostly super-articulated, had some pretty definitive sculpts, and are extremely hard to find these days (at a decent price).

So would I, but I'm thinking that the reason for heavy BS 3.75 reuse was due to the bulk of TLC molds being lost. As per Hasbro's comments to that fact, we just don't know to what extent the loss truly is and I feel neither do they.
