SW Creates

Hasbro invented vehicles

I really wish you'd stop with the made up vehicles, and instead when you want to make figure and vehicle sets, use background vehicles, or those above. Some of them are ataully quite nice, but really don't hold a candle to "screen accurate" vehicles.

Insufficient stock
Vintage collection and black series Rebel troopers, the prices on these on ebay, are STUPID high, paying £80 for a jedi, fine, cos you need one. But when your "I need atleast 10 of these figures" are this high it would really be a good idea for you to make another run, as the demand is obviously there.

Same with KOTOR Republic troopers and Shae Visla,

Other than second hand pricing, I'd like to say, I've never had difficulty finding and ebaying any individual figure.

6 inch range
I honestly personally couldn't give a hoot about the 6" range, if it's doing well for you, I'm glad, and i know a bunch of people are pleased with it and I can understand that they make wonderful shelf fillers. But I'm not interested for diorama use.

I am however glad that 3.75 figures continue to have super potable releases, and that they are not longer under the same brand as the 6 inch figures, this got very confusing when buying online.

HasLab
I was super excited about the sail barge, but I was very sorry to hear it was North America only, when will this and future products be available in europe? I was really ready to back the shiz out of that barge.

Legion
You're going to have to do allot better with SW legion, what I'd like to want to do is sell my figures and buy into this instead, but the vehicles are cheaper in 3.75 scale, which is ridiculous, and the range of aviable figures is incredibly lack luster currently, and the figures that are there aren't what we call in the industry, "multi-pose" which is very disappointing.

Overall
Progress is being made and you I am sure find it hard to keep up with the wave of new media.

However with the new CW series coming out in 2020 this is the perfect time for you to give those missed characters and vehicles some love, as well as for rebels.

I'd like to see a packing crate pack-in as a promotion we don't really see those, and I'd like to, I think those SW crates could do really well.

I'd like to take this discussion to another level:

I think there could be a system where we are able to get figures placed in a certain Tier or Level where their importance to the saga or possibly their overall visibility in the films and in the fandom in general is ranked. They do Tiers in Fantasy football all the time and they are able to break it down to things like percentage of plays involved (Touches/Targets,etc) and their track record (Ceiling to Floor) and the team around them (basically does the QB have an O-line and does the WR have a quality QB).

Star Wars figure necessity will be endlessly debated anyway, so lets try to get a system in place that can be at least agreed upon by a majority so we can get a list of what is NEEDED yet in the 3 3/4" line and what is WANTED.

Any Quick suggestions on the process? I'm just spitballing here, but I could see where something like an Imperial Dignitary would check a lot of boxes but may not be something EVERYONE wants. Getting a definitive list of what SHOULD be released is impossible, but if we are given criteria, certain figures will make Tier 1 and others will be relegated to Tier 5 (or whatever).

I'm going to start my thought on this outside the forum. Anyone interested in helping to formulate a set of criteria?

To add to that. I think we need to limit the character on the list to ones that do not have a figure or do not have an articulated figure or really need an updated figure. Obviously those with no figure at all like Jaxxon, Fozec, or Lt. Connix (to choose something from completely different eras and medium) would be weighed slightly higher than those that have a non-articulated figure like Chirrut Imwe (for example) but Chirrut would be weighed higher in terms of visibility and screen time.

Also, we have figures like Luke Tatooine and Leia ANH that really do still need a definitive figure... but there have been so many of them that we'd need to know how to weigh that need with how MAIN the character is. Personally I'd like to get an articulated Chirrut before I get another Leia, but I definitely want a better ANH Leia eventually.

No sense in putting characters like TLJ Luke, Yakface, or Boba Fett on this list in my opinion as they are pretty well definitive at this point... the problem being that someone will immediately point out the need for these to be redone as well, which is what makes this exercise nearly impossible.

So, who talks first? You talk first? I talk first?

I'll start.

It breaks my heart to say it, but anything Legends would likely need to be relegated to Tier 3 or lower. There are tons of figures I'd like from the old EU books, comics, etc., but the likelihood of those figures is extremely low. Obviously there could be a figure or two that could rise above, (*cough* Jaxxon *cough*) but I'm just starting there.

Tier 1 would have to be for characters with screen time. Certainly there are blink and you'd miss them characters that would not be Top Tier, but screen time would have to be a high priority for a figure. Examining characters like Cliegg Lars and Shmi Skywalker. Both have speaking parts, but both are not that central to the story (yes I know Anakin's mom blah). Shmi got a figure in 2001 that could surely use an update but Cliegg has no figure. I'd put Cliegg Lars in Tier 1 for those reasons A: Screen Time B: Speaking Part C: no current figure. The negatives of this figure would be A: not an exciting figure (old human male) B: not a core character C: only in one scene in one movie.

Shmi would be Tier 2 even though she is likely more central to the story and has more screen time because she at least has a figure. With this criteria characters like Luke, Leia, Han, etc could be Tier 1 in terms of needing a figure, but we may just want to exempt those corest of core characters as we should just assume Tatooine Luke and ANH Leia are always on the Tier 1 for a figure (especially with the new face paint option).

My approach is pretty simple, since so much has changed - the vast majority of secondary characters that have a 3.75 figure, do not need to be updated. Take Shmi for example - her original figure was a pegwarmer, so a $13 TVC version with super articulation is frankly a waste of tooling unless the fanbase can guarantee thousands of sales. For example, if their minimum production is 10k figures of her, and the actual demand is 2k, that's where you'd have to say, go buy the existing figure on ebay. That pretty much goes for any character that doesn't have huge support that can be backed up with sales. The Fans Choice Poll for TVC outlines what some of the better sellers would be, and where the demand is. I'd use that as a roadmap for fan favorites, and start running that poll every year.

Ugh, please no more polls unless there are some tight restrictions on who is able to vote and what is allowed. Some of the Fan Favorites have been brilliant (Ephant Mon, McQuarrie Stormtrooper), but recently it's just a mess. The figures for the final list last time were not even indicative of what was voted for in several cases.

I do agree about most of the secondary characters. I would not expect Shmi on a Vintage Card. I would love to see some multipacks. A multipack with Qui Gon, Young Anakin, a new Shmi and a new Padme (tatooine) would be awesome. They could even go a step further and include Jar Jar, Kitster, and Wald and an Eopie. Repacks (Qui Gon, Anakin, Jar Jar), 9POA (head, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip) only for Padme, Shmi, Kitster and Wald to cut down on cost. $40?? Maybe that's going too far, but it would certainly get 4 new figures out that would be on my list.

I always bought the multipacks until they started doing all re-releases...

I dunno, I think the last poll for TVC was representative of at least the OT characters that remain in high demand - Yakface, Sim Aloo, & the Emperor. People have been asking for those for many years at this point.

The other half of the poll was EU & animation - Ahsoka from Rebels, ARC Fives from CW, and Dr. Aphra from the comics. Ahsoka and clones have been wildly popular since the CW series, so those make sense - but Aphra did come out of nowhere. Many of us werent keen on the final result, but that doesn't necessarily mean the poll wasn't accurate. We do know certain characters like Pong Krell & the Tonnikas were removed, but neither of those were because of voting irregularities. I think the polls have been very beneficial.

I guess my point was that I've seen polls where anything can be nominated and we literally get anything nominated. There was on several years ago that may have been on rebelscum, I'm not certain, but there were like 600 characters nominated all the way from Darth Vader to random video game and background comic book characters.

Don't get me wrong, ANY new character is fine by me, but the thought that Aphra won was like suggesting that you can vote for Tacos at McDonalds... sure you can... but you're getting a burger.
