<u>Perks, what you get in return, if you work:</u>

which point your 4-day badge will be swapped for a
CIV volunteer badge. The volunteer badge, along with your OPX name badge, will allow you to enter the convention center ahead of the lines to work.
The volunteer badge retains all benefits of your original 4-day badge. Anyone wishing to get their original 4-day badge back can swap it back before the end of the day on Sunday. In addition, you will receive these benefits as administered by Gen Con:
<ul>
[*]Access to reserved seating at Star Wars Celebration IV events, subject to availability.
[*]Access to VIP lines/entrances at the Star Wars Celebration IV events, exhibits, and the retail store, subject to availability.

[*]>=4 Shifts: Same as all above, plus something else special for your efforts.
[*]Monday 12:30-4pm: You get to keep your volunteer vest!
[/list]
* Those purchasing a 1-Day pass will not receive a CIV volunteer badge and will not be permitted to work the 1st shift of any day.

Q: As a volunteer, will I be able to approach the guests and take pictures?

Even though you are a volunteer, we expect you to act in a professional manner. Approaching the guests while you are on duty for anything
other than OPX business would be considered inappropriate. However, when you are not on duty you may wait in line for a guest to meet them and
take pictures.

Q: When will the autograph schedule be posted?

The autograph schedule is always a work in progress. Most guests will be signing all days, but a few will have different schedules which
can change at the last minute. Stay tuned to StarWarsCelebration.com for latest updates and last minute changes will be posted
in the autograph hall.

Q: How many shifts in a day can I work to meet the requirement?

A minimum of two shifts is required to work for OPX. These two shifts may be worked all in one day if you so desire.

Q: What areas do you need the most volunteers?

All areas are important , but the biggest need is for volunteers to assist a signing guest at their table, taking coupons, answering questions and generally being helpful.

Q: When will we know if we\'ve been accepted as a volunteer?

Assume that you have been accepted, more likely you will hear from me if you are not accepted.

Q: How long does a shift last?

Most shifts are 3.5 hours long. Thursday shifts are longer because of the odd convention hours that day. See above for the list of shifts.

Q: Are we required to volunteer all five days of the convention?

No, only 2 shifts of your choosing. Your shifts can occur on one day or multiple days.

Q: Do we still have to wait in line to get in to the convention with a Volunteer Badge?

No. Your volunteer badge, in addition to your OPX name badge, will get you into the conventions center ahead of the line in order to work.

Q: Do we still have to wait in line for the store with a Volunteer Badge?

According to Gen Con, there may be special privileges for volunteers in regard to the store line. Gen Con administers this benefit and is subject to change.

Q: Can my family members get in early with me when I go to my morning shifts?

Only those with a volunteer badge and a OPX name badge are able to get in early.

Q: Will we have the opportunity to enjoy the convention between shifts?

You are only required to work two shifts out of 13 available shifts. This should allow you plenty of time out of 5 days to enjoy the convention.

Q: Is there any guarantee of assignments for volunteers (once the guest list is announced) or can I work with a certain actor?

Unfortunately there is no way to guarantee an assignment with a certain guest. Some guests bring their own assistant, some guests request certain
assistants and guest schedules can suddenly change.

Q: How does shift assignment work & can certain shifts/days/assignments be requested?

In April we will begin to assign shifts. I will send an email requesting your choices. I will assign shifts on a first reply basis.

Q: Do you have an orientation day for the volunteers or will you just send information on what to do?

I will attempt to set a time, before the start of the convention, during which we can all have some face to face discussion and instruction. Otherwise I will communicate as thouroughly as possible via email as to what is expected of you and what you will be required to do. Also, all volunteers are required to train their replacements every day with any new information. In other words, my apprentices, I will teach you and you will
then teach others!

Q: If you already have those of us that worked at CIII in a database is there a need to refill out an application?

Yes! New convention, new data! Fill out the application and I will match that information to your previous data.

Q: When will passes be exchanged for our volunteer pass?

I will set up a time before the convention for volunteer check-in. You will also be able to check-in after the convention starts in the autograph hall.

Q: Can I get autographs from the guest I work with? Can I take pictures of the guest I work with?

We, and our signing guests, expect you to be professional when you are on duty. Asking for photos or pictures during your shifts would not be appropriate. However, many guests have been comfortable enough with their escorts to pose for pictures. It is completely up to the signing guests
whether to accommodate.

Q: Can we have action figures signed instead of random photos for our compensation?

Your compensation for working with OPX is randomly distributed autographs. There is no logistical process available to accommodate the signing of anything else.

Q: Do volunteers get preferential treatment or discounted coupons for autographs to benefit us when we\'re not working and want an autograph from a guest?

No. If you do not receive the autograph you wanted in your compensation you will need to purchase your own coupons for those guests. There is no discount or preferential treatment.

Q: Can I get my original badge back?

If you wish to get your original 4-day badge back you can do so by the end of the day on Sunday. I am required to return all badges Monday morning.

Compensation is strictly in random autographs, I can't make any exceptions.

Anne, what is the chance for an OPX party somewhere? I personally think that during shifts we maintain the highest level of professionalism. Not stand around chatting and not doing what we are expected to do. But I think there is a good demand for all of us to try to get together somewhere either the day before the celebration, after hours, whatever and mingle a bit. Share great stories from C3 (C2+C1 for those who of us lucky enough to do every one so far) and just "celebrate together"...any ideas about this?

There aren't any official plans, but by all means volunteers should hook up outside the convention to share and get to know each other. I imagine that all the hotel bars will be nothing but Star Wars meet-n-greets. Just let me know too so I can join, if possible!

Since we will be trading in our 4 day badges for a volunteer badge will we still be able to purchase the exclusives that require stamping of badges since the 4 day badge allows you to get 4 of one single item? Any help would be appreciated. Can't wait to see you all!!

Your volunteer badge will carry all the same privileges as your 4-day pass, but it's better because you may get line privs from Gen Con.

That sounds like an awsome plan. Getting to know some of you before the shift actually starts would be a great thing.

Anne, I'll try not to butcher this question...

There will be certain items available for sale buy vendors that may only be available first thing in the morning before selling out ect... My question is, if we are scheduled to work the first shift do you know or expect any privileges to go to the vendor hall before the first shift in order to get some of these nice collectibles? I'm a collector and hope to buy some of these items.

Does anyone know what they did for C3?

I have a question on this:

Q: Can I get my original badge back?

If you wish to get your original 4-day badge back you can do so by the end of the day on Sunday. I am required to return all badges Monday morning.

This confuses me. Are you required to return the volunteer badges on Monday morning? Or is it the orginal badge? Let me know which one because then I have another question please!

Ok, do we get to keep both badges then on Monday? I was just confused because I thought we had to trade our volunteer badges in order to get our original 4 day one back. But then no one would know we were volunteers if we have to volunteer on Monday. So I'm just confused on this. On Monday, we have both badges? None?

First, you should NOT sign up to work when you know you're going to be in a 2 hour line to buy an exclusive. Vendors should have schedules on when things go on sale. I will not let you leave work to go buy something. Let's work your schedule around when you need to be in the exhibit hall.

Second, about the badges. Before the convention you will give me your 4-day badge and I will give you a Volunteer badge. Some of you have expressed the desire to keep your 4-day badge as a souvenir instead of your volunteer badge. So, IF, that's IF you want your 4-day badge back (you give me your volunteer badge and I give you your 4-day badge) then I can do that by the end of Sunday. Ultimately you will only have one badge to take home with you, it's your choice.

But, damn, it gets complicated too because if you work Monday morning shift you're going to need your volunteer badge so you can't get your 4-day badge back if that's the case. Confused even more? :)

I get it. So I'm going there with my original badge, trading it for the volunteer badge, and keeping the volunteer badge so I can work on Monday! The volunteer badge will look cool like the other ones, right? I wonder what character we'll get....

One more question that popped into my little head the other day. Is there a way you can let us know what all OPX will be selling at C4? I would like to know if there is gonna be binders and photo packs available again? Thanks

I am not sure if this has been answered yet. I know that we need to buy coupons for each celebrity to have items signed. Is that coupon good for only one autograph or multiples. If multiple items, what is the limit on the number of items to be signed, either personal items(figs, posters, etc) and/or OPX photos? I understand that you shouldnt go overboard with items but is there a combined number? Thanks

Also, one final question...I went to the OPX site and tried to print the sheets that showed the pictures and when they printed they came out extremely pixellated and unreadable. Do you have a better set of high res images so that I can print them out as a checklist for decisions on coupons and photos? Thanks

Each guest will require a different number of coupons for ONE autograph. Some will take one coupon, others will take two or three. It's like going to the state fair and buying food coupons.

Actually what I meant was that if I buy the specialty coupon for Carrie Fisher and then say 3 additional coupons for David Prowse, and I also purchase the CIV photo for Fisher as well as one of the normal ones for her or if I have an action figure of Darth Vader and one of the pics of him, will I be able to have her/him sign the 2 items that I have on me or am I going to have to buy another 3 coupons or specialty GOH coupon for him/her to sign both items essentially spending $60 or more for 2 autographs from the same person on 2 different items. Or are we going to be limited to say 2 items a piece when we purchase a GOH ticket or standard guest coupon(s)?

Maybe this would help:
3 coupons($30) for Prowse=1 signature on 1 item
If you want it on an OPX photo signed=$5 photo coupon
you want a poster signed also, add another 3 ($30) coupons
you want a figure signed also, add another 3 ($30) coupons
------------------------------------------------------------
so if your wanting an 8x10, a poster and a figure signed your looking at 9($90) coupons and 1 Picture coupon ($5)
for a total of $95 dollars for all of these items signed.
most of the signers dont have a limit except the GOH, they have yet to be announced on the limit.

so that is a definite? or are you speculating? The way it sounded on other boards made it sound as if you bought the GOH coupon for example that you could have them sign a couple of items, I was just trying to confirm this.

Whenever I've gone, no matter who it was signing, I always needed a coupon or coupons for each thing I had signed. Two posters, you need the corresponding amount of coupons for each item. It would be nice if they would just sign a bunch of stuff but it doesn't work that way.

Well, only Anne can confirm definites...but as a volunteer for OPX in the past and EVERY single convention I have ever attended, that is the rule. Why would anyone think that they could pay for one ticket and think they could have 20 items signed?

Well, that would be nice! But could imagine how much longer the lines would be? It would be awful.

I just thought that they might limit it to say 2-3 pieces each since we are already paying for them to sign something as well as purchasing photos. Oh well...guess I will have to stick to the photos and not bring figs

Anne,

At C3, you had photos available at the celebrities tables for sale. Will this be the case for C4?

JediFrances: The situation was the same at C3 as this so far. I can tell you that the "suprise" there was an autographed photo of Jake Lloyd. Which was really cool since he was not a signing guest at the event so, only OPX volunteers working the 4 shifts got these.
So I can only hope that its another cool autograph of someone not attending the event. So many if Samuel L.Jackson does not appear to sign...hopefully we can get his autograph as a "thank you suprise"....

true, That was just an example. Everyone PLEASE dont start saying this is fact. I was only making a point. It could be a number of things. There are endless ideas. We can get a binder to keep all of the photos we earned in, it can be a mystery autograph , or a pin...who knows, but its like Christmas...the best part is the build up to the big day.

I hope Im not stepping on toes here Anne, there was pics on the tables, however, you still needed a $5 ticket to get one. You cant walk up to a table and just offer them $5. This is for many reasons. The guest signing doesnt have time to make change, too hard to track accurate sales, and all we need is someone screaming "Carrie Fisher ripped me off $15 because I gave her a $20 and she said it was only a $5 bill." So PLEASE make sure you have your photo tickets bought at the OPX booth selling them, then get a picture off of the guest signers table.
