FS: ESB Palitoy Sample Cards - ALL SOLD

As far as I'm aware there are no Palitoy proof cards known but these unused sample cards are about as close as it gets. These sample cards were obtained from a lithographic printing firm in Northampton that supplied Palitoy, German General Mills and Dutch Clipper cardbacks to the Palitoy factory in Coalville where they were assembled. As far as I'm aware these are the only unused ESB Palitoy cardbacks to be found. They have not been used in any way and are not factory rejects where the bubbles didn't hold. They didn't even make it to the factory. These were purchased from the son of an employee at the printing firm who brought some of the spare cards home. These really are incredible unique pieces but unfortunately I need to part with them. I'm testing the water on Rebelscum before I consider listing on eBay or Facebook. The cards are in near mint condition with some slight edge wear. Please refer to the high resolution photos below for condition. They will be shipped inside a top loader with a slim acrylic proof card case and a polybag for protection.

Wow those cards are amazing! Are they similar to those which were used by Toy Toni?

Hi Matthieu, Thanks mate! Yeah they look the same but my understanding was that Toy Toni's were left over factory stock whereas these are sample cards obtained from the printing firm. Although I don't think AFA would distinguish between them. And whilst Toy Toni had quite a few 45 back and 65 back cards I think the only one of the above that he had was the 45b GM C-3PO. There are about 10 ROTJ Palitoy Sample cards out there (Lobot, C3PO, Chewbacca, Gamorrean Guard, Lando Skiff, Boushh, Logray, Squid Head, Hoth Stormtrooper, Biker Scout are the ones I'm aware of) but to my knowledge these are the only ESB ones. Although recently there were some factory rejects turn up where the bubble didn't stick.

Very interesting, thanks for clarifying. I recently found an unused Palitoy ESB cardback (a Snowtrooper I think) in a lot of childhood toys in France which is quite odd! According to the seller’s memory it was brought back to him from a trip in the UK by his parents!

Oh wow would love to see that. I’ve seen a couple of ROTJ Snowtrooper cards but not seen an ESB yet. It would be a nice one to own. I’m sure there are others out there waiting to be discovered and I’m a bit out of touch these days with latest finds.
