Epic Heroes 3.75" Line

If this appeals to anyone, good for you. Enjoy!

Personally, I don't know how many times Hasbro can flush money down the toilet.

What's the price gonna be on these to start? $13.99? Just to fill the empty space left by TVC, I assume. Those deluxe figs like Paz and Sabine, won't be cheap either.

Having a more affordable option for a wider range of consumers that don't want to pay $17+ for a 3.75 figure isn't necessarily a bad idea, but altering the scale slightly up will likely reduce the chances of many collectors finding interest in the assortment. I think they look decent, but some are a bit too lackluster or cartoony, Grogu being the worst. If they're made of the cheap hard plastic, that will also be something that likely pushes away potential interest from collectors. It will be interesting to see if this replaces something like Mission Fleet, or they think it will simply be a viable alternative to Retro and TVC, for those that want something close to 3.75 scale at a reduced price. I think they should all be under $10 on basic cards - no more "deluxe" bs, making certain characters more expensive - that's an existing problem that plagues TVC, and reduces sales, so they should have learned from that.

Marvel Epic Heros is $10.99 which isn't cheap for a kids line. These should be $7.99-8.99 max with deluxe figures being $12.99. The price point should be affordable to kids who want to spend allowance or money a grandparent slipped them at the last family gathering, or if they can convince a parent to buy while mom or dad is shopping at Target.

Despite the pics, I believe these will have Epic Hero articulation. If not, it's a fail and a redundant product with the Retro line.

And what's up with the stormtrooper? Did they just give up on his paint apps halfway through? He's missing the black around his neck/hips.

Basic figures will apparently be $9.99, but we might see some retail competition, so prices could drop. I think $8 would make them more viable to a variety of consumers, but I've said the same about Retro for years. While the SW license is expensive, Hasbro is also greedy beyond their healthy profit margin.

Since I own most of these in Retro / TVC (or both) - I don't really care about the figures, I'm just eager to see if they do a beast assortment! Give us the long awaited Blurrg!

Wave 1 Case of 6 & Wave 1 Deluxe Case of 4/Set of 2 are now available to PO at EE. Sabine is available on Amazon.

Not sure why I'm bothering to post here.

Overheard at the Epic Heroes pitch meeting:
"Can we make the figures worse and still overcharge?"
"We'll do a bunch of new sculpts to justify the price."
"We can just up the price of the Vintage Collection, those dorks will buy anything."
"Right! and we'll make sure to minimize the articulation, kid's will play with a potato if it has a lightsaber."
"I mean, we have 2.5 inch, 3.75 inch, 5 inch, 6 inch... we can squeeze a 4" line in there."
"I have a friend that can do basic art on the card for practically nothing."
"We can save money on paint too."
"I think this is the best idea we've had since the movie Battleship and our 'board game universe'."
"We can throw in a huge useless accessory and charge twice as much!" <employee of the year

Sorry, but 46 years in, I am not remotely interested in anything but the 3.75 scale. If kids like them, great, but I find it hard to believe kids would care about the difference between 3.74 vs. 4 which I assume most collectors will.

They're the same scale. Whether it's solicited as 4" or 3.75", the scale is still the same - 1:18.

Yeah, Jayson mentioned an update in another thread that they're actually the same scale, so I'm looking forward to these hitting, so they can be photographed with TVC figures for comparison, which will also help dispel the notion of them being a 1/4 of an inch larger. If they look decent in person, I might even grab one myself, since I'm into 5 POA, but the character selection doesn't do much for me. I guess it would be between Luke or Ahsoka, as I like those characters the most out of this lot.

Then I am not sure why they are being promoted as 4 inch. But I look forward to seeing them in relation to the existing 3.75 figures. Thanks for clarifying if they are the 1:18 scale.

So now we have Retro (selling for $3.99) at Ollie's. Galaxy of Adventures selling for $6-7 on E-bay.

And soon to be clearanced Epic Heroes. I guess everyone does need a figure of their choosing.

I apparently chose poorly with the line that's been around for almost 50 years. I should have waited for Epic Heroes.

They are 10cm... which means they are 3.9" so we got that going for us.

That's really the hitch, none of the character's they're going with interest me as I can get better versions in TVC, but if they bother to release a Pyke Soldier, or heck just about any Alien we're being starved for I could be compelled to buy them on sale. Since the only part that interests me is the head sculpt. Otherwise it's 1000% passable for me.

Even if they attempted vehicles in this line, I feel as if they would be the same kiddish appearance with less detailing and cheaper materials. Not to mention likely scaled down smaller than a TVC version would be. And frankly it's not lie we'd get anything new, probably Boba's ship again, a Jedi Starfighter, an N-1, and possibly a TIE Fighter. Would they bother with Shin's, a Fang Fighter or a Gauntlet? Sabine's Speeder w/5POA alt outfit? I would legit LOL if they did that for this line and not TVC!

I mean I would totally buy a reissue/repaint of TVC Mandalorian Speederbike if released in this line! As well as Anakin's Recon Assault Craft and the Republic Dropship. I'd even sing praises if they somehow managed to release the mini Desert Sail Skiff!

But we all know this is aimed at kids which means main characters repeats only...

I'd buy some aliens as well, heck, any unmade characters that they don't plan on ever putting in TVC, I'll happily buy in this assortment, as I'm most interested in character diversity for displays, over articulation.

When it comes to vehicles, maybe this is the line to experiment with, and Sabine w/ speeder might be a good test product. We know with TVC that many consumers weren't interested in paying $50 for a speeder with figure, so companies had to slash the price in half to move them. If this line could do a basic figure without all the bulky accessories and a speeder for $20, they might fly of the shelves.

I honestly don't think you can use the Endor Speeder as a gauge, for starters most of us who've been collecting that last 3-4 decades have plenty by now. So at most only one may have been needed to get the updated Scout with larger helmet. It, IMO, is no Sabine w/Speeder which is at least new looking with a different deco even if it's the Ezra Speeder repainted. And she's in an alternate outfit, which I kind of like more than her Armored look. Although nobody's going to be troop building that one either, it's new looking in appearance. But I also don't think Ezra's Speeder fits the $45 price point. I never bought it when it was $20 in 2016, and paid something like $12 a few years later.

I excited for these, to me the MissionSeries figured were some of the best sculpts they ever did, though these look slightly more cartoony, its nice to get new characters in this style.

As expected, there is potential for small vehicles and beasts in this line, so long as the pricepoint is right, which gets consumers to pick them up. They should use the TVC speeder bike as example, and not price them over $25 (the price they started really moving at online), if they expect them to move at MSRP at retail. They can also do alternate outfits for characters like Sabine, especially if they have no plans for that type of release in TVC, and it would be a selling point for me.

It's certainly a wait and see, if they do release Sabine's Speeder as well as several other items, I'd definitory be keen depending on what those items are. Since I'm a broken record I'd like to bring up the potential for reissues of some of TCW era mini rigs.

Heck, maybe this is the line where people can get the Vespa gang!

found these today at WM

With their buckets on, they look pretty close in size, but once it's removed from the TVC figure, the difference looks more drastic. I think the chest, waist, and gauntlets / hands on the Epic figure are the most revealing - just a bit too bulky, but probably built this way for sturdy playability for kids, which makes sense. How do they feel - solid and heavy or cheap and hollow?

Yeah that still works for me. Theyre a bit chunkier, but those rebels figures were thin, they probably fit right in with mission series.

Good grief, I forgot what an hourglass that animated Sabine figure was - she looks like she's starving! I agree that they look fine together, since that old version of Sabine was depicting a teenager, and the Epic version is her as an adult. I'm eager to see the basic assortment, but I'm guessing those weren't at the store yet?

They only had 2 each of the 2 delux figs, no basic line yet. If I remember to do so, I can take a pic of EH Sabine w/ an average height 5poa and tvc when i get home after work today

ok heres EH Sabine between tvc hoth luke and recent duel Vader. here, height isnt too bad esp. compared to Vader.

Stopped by a WM, definitely no pegs reset for either of these SKUs, with pricetags, etc. I wonder if there is a reset date for a product launch, or if these are just going to trickle into retail whenever they get around to it?

Considering these are slowly popping up at WM, both the deluxe packs and basic assortment, I'm surprised there aren't more comparison shots & chatter, other than the nice pictures that R1 snapped of Sabine. I'm most interested to see how Luke & Ahsoka turned out in comparison to their TVC counterparts.

Got Paz and Sabine. Only thing I wish was different is their backpacks are huuuuge. And it would be nice if Paz came with a smaller version of the rocket firing blaster

It caught me in the right mood.

Cardback has nice art and is heavy, far heavier than what we're getting for TVC and RC. Figure has some interesting peg holes with nothing to go in them, must be for a future reissue. Cape has a split in the collar so its easily removed. Size difference as you can see is pretty obvious on this one.
The figure feels good, like good quality plastic and I like the sculpt, aesthetically. Is it worth what it costs ($9.99) absolutely not, but then nothing is nowadays.
Honestly with this line I'm far more interested in what we'll be seeing for vehicles or possibly beasts. But, this is a neat one off figure to have, the future offerings will have to either edge closer in line with existing figures, or get awfully impressive with the selection to get any traction. For me, anyway.

I'm curious how this Mando scales with the TVC version, considering the Retro release was a bit shorter, if I recall correctly. Looks like a decent sculpt, but I think $10 is a bit much as well, since this seems like a Saga Legends type release, so maybe putting them out for $7.99 or so might have been smarter, if they want to pull in a broader range of consumers.

As for this peg holes on the arms and back, they're for the interchangeable accessories that come with the deluxe figures, so you can attach them to each other, on select figures.
