Hasbro will be releasing the Emperor's Royal Guard in the 6 " line:

Who's going to buy this? Thoughts on the Royal Guard?

I have a really bad feeling this sucker is going to be tough to come by because you can't have just one Royal Guard. It's like a minimum of two.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was one of the figures I was supporting in the 6" Fan's Choice Figure poll. Glad to see Hasbro got to the Royal Guard before we needed another poll.

If they don't solid case pack this guy they need their heads knocked together.

This was a really nice surprise as well. Looks great and I'm in for two. They need to either double pack him or at least repack him in a following wave.

Its about time they made this guy, Palpatine will display so much better with a couple of these.

Can't wait to display Palpatine with these guys! It's about time to give the Battlefront Shocktroopers a break!

Hasbro has really surprised me with these 6" reveals. Minus ANH Leia, everything is very impressive. Looking forward to several of these. I just had that feeling SDCC used to give us every year.

While I've been reluctant to do any troop building in the Black Series 6" figure line, I just HAVE to get two of these guys to stand on either side of Palpatine.

Also, this is probably one of my MOST coveted figures, along with ESB Snowtrooper and Tusken Raider.

I'm also going for two. Maybe four if my wallet will allow, but Hasbro will be releasing four other figures I really want plus I also collect Figuarts so it's just two at the moment.

This looks great, and I love that it has the 'Crimson Empire' armor underneath! I would like to get two, but I imagine I'll have a hard enough time trying to find just one.

So awesome looking! Have to get 2 eventually. This should certainly make the Emperor display a bit better. The EU comic inclusion is a great plus of course. It takes the sting of me never getting the 3 3/4 TVC Royal Guard assuming I can get one of these that is.

Not a fan of the EU armor underneath, so I'm not sure if I will buy this.

The Royal Guards are obviously wearing ceremonial uniforms that are not designed for combat, so the movie costume makes much more sense than the silly comic book armor:

I'm not really a fan of the whole Crimson Empire thing either, I think it's all just kind of Power Rangery. With that said, I don't have a problem with this figure...even though I don't care for the source material, I applaud Hasbro for going this route when they could just as easily not. I'm not bothered by what's under the robes...because it's under the robes.

I really really want this figure and preferably more than 1.
But looking at the second image, with the robe open, I can't get out of my head, that the head of the figure looks to be too high up, proportionally.
So I will definitely also have the robes hang naturally - it's what I've known them fro anyways :) the silent red statue guards.

I wouldn't to bothered by the armor underneath if it actually looked like imperial armor. That lobster plated stuff on his legs is so bulky I don't see how he even walks properly wearing it, and it looks more like something from Mass Effect than Star Wars. I would rather he had no armor at all since the ones in the movie did not wear any, or at least pieces of red Stormtrooper armor underneath.

Time to mod, once again? :D

I'm a big fan of the armor. I can't really see them defending anything if a single blaster bolt can take them down. I commend Hasbro for putting in the extra effort to appeal to the fans of Crimson Empire.

You know me too well Oofa, a mod is indeed going to come into play. This time I am going to do some tailoring work by making a dark crimson rode and belt to wear under his red one. That should conceal the armor well enough and be much easier to accomplish than modding the legs and torso. I will also shorten his neck post if the final release has his head sitting up too high like the one in the pics.

I've noticed that about the neck as well.. looks weird, when the robe is open. Unless of course they were all kaminoans xD

I could forgive the silly EU underarmour if they made the robe look good.

34 years later and the original Kenner version is still the best.
