Recently a listing for an Emperor Vintage Collection figure was listed on AmazonAU but has since been pulled for those that didn’t order it.

Who wants to see the Emperor in the Vintage Collection? Fingers crossed for a good version.

I'll take 3 versions please. Darth Sidious in his prime, Emperor from ROTJ, and Palpatine from ROTS. Obviously this one is going to be the middle one there, but Hasbro has some catching up to do here.

My hope is that it continues the pattern that they have recently done with the excellent 5POA figures leading to excellent retools of the older Vintage collection figures (Like Hoth Leia, Vader, Jedi Luke), as the last 5POA Emperor was pretty solid for what it was.

While nice ^ If Hasbro were to put that level of care a QC into a figure then we would have to expect to pay closer to $20 or more for it, at $14 I just don't see it happening. It will be just like all past figures have been and the only difference this time out will be the photo real head sculpt.

That's why I left the original sitting on in there. It just looks better than any other for that purpose at this time. Even the standing Emperor I replaced with the 5poa version because the soft goods robe just made it a big poofy mess.

I’m cautiously optimistic about this one. Hasbro has never nailed the soft goods for the Emperor.

In fact, my favorite versions of Palpatine are both from the Power of the Force back in the 90s. One with the Force Lightning, another with a cane. Not the best detail, paint, or articulation. But they still look nicer than any of the soft goods messes we’ve gotten over the years.

That's why I left the original sitting on in there. It just looks better than any other for that purpose at this time. Even the standing Emperor I replaced with the 5poa version because the soft goods robe just made it a big poofy mess.

I use the Episode 1 Sidious for all of my Emperor displays. It's barely posable, but it looks SO good. I even modified one to sit on the throne.

I did a custom with the 5PoA head on the TVC Sidious body, but I can’t find it! I’m going to look for it. .

Aside form the Hallmark ornament the only other passable figure is TPM version, so you've got both standing and seated bases covered. It does suck that neither of them are articulated other than the arms on TPM figure. Unfortunately there just isn't a good way to represent the figure in a good way with current SG's material at this scale so I am definitely keeping my expectations limited. If it turns out as good as the BS version I'll consider it a win.

So the Emperor's throne and backdrop w/Emperor is the SDCC exclusive, and then you can buy the Emperor separately as well.

Not a full blown playset but we finally get our throne.

Also, the Offworld Jawa was our clue: sculpted hood and soft goods robe.

In general, I really appreciate the plastic hood and cloth robe approach. It’s worked well for multiple Sidious and Maul figures in the past!

Hopefully this will be easy to purchase off Pulse when the time comes.

This is probably in that Emperor wave. The only reason I can see them holding these back is because a figure from this wave is somehow involved in a potential summer exclusive set as well and they want to show that off before soliciting the same figure as an individual release.

But honestly who knows...

I'll be interested to see how the softgoods cloak rests - the hemming on the sleeve reminds me of the TPM Sidious release. Hopefully they give this release the same treatment as TBS, with alternate heads - but I could just as easily see them putting an alternate head on the basic carded release as well. Curious to see what other pieces will be included and the pricepoint.

An Emperor with the ability to keep a seated position, and a throne he can actually fit in? I've been sitting out most of the photo real figures due to cost and how jarring they look next to the toys of ten years ago, but for this I say yes, please.

The fact that the hood isn't pushed down on the head all the way for the photo tells me this is 100% legit, lol.

Getting excited now. We all knew he was coming, but with a throne?

My guess is this will be some kind of window-box exclusive set w/ Palps, Luke, and Vader (retro Cinema Scene packaging perhaps?), and that Palps himself will still get a standard, carded release in the main line.

The picture leak is odd, especially when the BS leak is a full image with Hasbro markings on it.

I does feel like some big website will be exclusively unveiling both exclusives in the very near future.

And I can't wait to see the packaging. Hoping it's NOT a window box and fits in with everything else in the line.

It would have been hard enough to get the Emperor and throne as a regular release. I’ll try to get this, but go in with the expectation that I won’t.

Are you thinking standard TVC playset box, with a carded Emperor inside? I'd be cool with that, but would still want him to be released in the main line, since the carded figures inside the playsets aren't always mint, due to how they're stuffed in there.

Yeah, I want a standard TVC box with all figure(s) in baggies. Then the main line emperor is "unique" being on card.

At the same time it wouldn't surprise me if they did some fancier box because it's an SDCC exclusive. Either reflective race bars like the Arc Troopers or something out of left field.

Gee whiz, while I'm not totally blown away it is neat/cool looking for sure. Though I kind of wanted more than just the window, yet at $32 w/figure I guess it is what it is. I mean if basic figure prices at say $14 that must make the throne and window $18 worth of plastic which TBH seems high considering what the throne cost a few decades ago.

I think I can honestly say that I really only need the basic carded version being that I already have the old POTF throne. IDK, it's a tough call for me on which way to go because the window part is cool.

I don't really have the room for this, and I don't know if you can even really call it a "playset" if it's just a window behind the throne.
