I took the picture from another thread; I hope it will be available to order soon.

Goes up on the 21st at the same time as the reveal helmet. Full details to be announced on Monday but it is $1,299 and an SE signed by someone who worked on ANH. My guess is Roger Christian

Scheduling them at the same time seems like a good way to crash the efx site

What is this lightsaber based on as it has a red bubble strip and only 6 grips? Doesn't resemble any of the OT or Rogue 1 lightsabers.

The final version has the traditional calculator bubbles. The video as originally posted noted that this was a working prototype and was just being posted to show the mechanism to open and close the Lightsaber. It will also have 7 grips.

Thanks very much for the clarification Evan

Having a very hard time with the idea of a "TBA" as the signature on an SE. For $1300 - efx needs to do better.

TBA - The Big Announcement! It might be,....... George Lucas! Lol. Nah,...... most likely Roger Christian.

Ben Burtt it is
That’s who I was thinking it would be.

It’s tempting. My concerns with this is the small base. It should be a longer base to accommodate a cover when in “reveal” mode. Like the Luke reveal that was done before this. Also, the lightsaber sagging when it’s opened up. Is this being addressed? Is it normal?

I previously owned the Luke Reveal lightsaber, and it had the exact same issue. That was the reason I never displayed it in the revealed position. Eventually, I sold it and purchased the MR V2 from Return of the Jedi.

Here you can clearly see how the Luke Reveal was sagging:

I hope they can avoid it this time.

Chris

Ben Burtt is a cool auto to go with it.

As for the sagging,.... yikes,.... Hope they add additional support holding stand at the front end and back end to avoid the sagging. I mean, the only reason why most of us wanna get this is to display it opened up. As most already have the MR Vader LE from back in the day.

I don’t have the MR Vader LE/SE, not anymore. But I do have Roman’s ANH V1. The only reason I would get this is to display it in the “reveal” position, as you stated. But the sagging is an issue. Enough to prevent me from preordering.

If you dont need to open and reveal it often, the sagging can be "fixed". Just tighten the set screws.

You just can't close it without loosening the set screws

I had this saber briefly when it released, but never had it displayed opened up when I had it. Not because of the sagging - I never noticed it, but because I preferred to display it closed. I mainly bought it due to sellers remorse of selling my Luke ROTJ EE. But it sold it, and the rest of the few MR replicas I had left, later when I got out of collecting.

I dont know if EFX will do anything to address the sagging. But it’s clearly visible in the pics. Did EFX know about that issue with the Luke saber?

It would be cool to have a Ben Burtt SE, but I don’t want to pay $1300+ for a hilt that droops when opened.

That drooping is unacceptable in my honest opinion. Its either they add more support stand or reengineer it to be firmer and ensure no drooping issues while displayed open. I mean this saber is unique bcos you can display it opened. Hope the issue is resolved.

Aside from the sagging with the Luke Saber it was just loose all round when open and felt cheap. This looks like it could well have the same problems.

Personal opinion: These are stupid and not replicas.
There not for me, especially at that price, though I do think it's a cool gimmick. If they were half that I may be tempted to get one reveal saber for my collection

I would rather have replicas of the screen used props. I wouldn't mind a version of Luke's lightsaber from the deleted cave scene with a control box where the red and green arrows light up.

That's my feeling too. eFx is a PROP REPLICA company. At least with the ROTJ Reveal it was in the deleted scenes...but this? Meh.

Well. They found somebody ….. JawaFong mentioned the name, here is some background info and a pic from EFX.

Ben Burtt is a brilliant addition. Nice autograph to acquire. He is after all a 4 time Oscar winner!
Agreed. He was instrumental in bringing Vader to life. And the whole Star Wars and Indy universe as a whole. Ben Burtt is the John Williams of sound design.

Fully concur… the way it was originally announced by EFX as “somebody”
made it come across like somebodies cousin’s, sisters brother was signing it… Right ? lol
