Looks like Hasbro will be releasing a 6" Doctor Ahpra figure:

Thoughts on this 6" Figure?

Lots of possibilities with this figure, in regards to customizing - the helmet and vest is removable they said. And I actually like the her comic - well, most of it. I will be getting her.

She actually looks to reuse Jainas upper and lower torso and even the legs spare the right thigh.

Surprised since this line hardly reuses anything.

While Veers should be taller it makes sense thier uniforms are well, uniform.

They're just taking liberties since they're comic and Legends characters were accuracy is much more undefined. It honestly doesn't bother me any on Aphra but if we get more comic characters and such unfitting reuse could get annoying. But if it means fans get a figure they other wise wouldn't I feel most would be okay with the compromise.

Now I know this ain't for everyone but I'd dig a IG-90 and Krrsantan from the Vader/Aphra comics. Very easy repaints and retools.

Not trying to start Sequel hate but they're not sticking with me like Solo and RO. Reading the Vader comic was refreshing to have new media that didn't strike many qualms with me and I genuinely enjoyed it. I want new SW media, guess the ST just ain't it for me.

Dont forget Snoova and Zaalbar too!

These would be amazing! I love the comics so easy purchase for me

Me neither, although I wasn't sold on 'Solo' I have to say...even if most of the things in the film, other than Solo, were alright.

But, yeh, I kind of enjoyed the 'Darth Vader' comic myself and, actually, think there's a decent movie in there trying to get out. An episode IV and a half as it were. They'd have to drop a few things, like those bionic twins and whatnot. That was just stupid. Also dumb was Cylo and his space whale crap. That was just awful, awful stuff. Amazing how crap like that gets a green light.

But, the central premise of Vader hiring Boba Fett to do some investigation into who the rebel pilot was who blew up the Death Star was, is a good plot. As is Palpatine's fading trust in his No.1 and subsequent monitoring and testing. There's a three year gap between 'Star Wars' and 'The Empire Strikes Back' that could do with some expanding. The only thing I would say is, if anyone were to make a film in that period, they absolutely should not include Han, Leia or Luke. Vader can be there, cos he's a guy in a suit. Ian McDiarmid is still alive and can done the make up again and casting an Aphra would be no problem.

There's a Star Wars film that would suit Vader fans, Palpatine fans, Fett fans and Aphra fans and it doesn't have to include any franchise damaging recasts of famous, beloved characters. I really want to see the blessed trinity of Han, Luke and Leia left out of every future Star Wars film.

That said. I don't know where an Aphra would go on the shelf. I don't what to do with a toy that looks like a strange female Japanese WWII pilot?

Dont forget Snoova and Zaalbar too!
Snoova would be cool but I doubt we have a chance to get either unless they win a fans choice, which won't happen. Honestly had to look up Zaalbar. Those are one thing I never ended up playing.

I'm used to SW comics having stuff I don't like in them and that I hope doesn't show up in the film I'm glad thier role was minimal. I'm fine with the concept of the Emperor commissioning possible replacements for Vader and the dynamic between them. However a techno-organic whale fleet, a Grevious knockoff of a Mon Calamari head, and a guy who uploads himself to a new body when he dies is not what I want in SW.

Why exactly is this Flavour of The Week getting a 6" release too? And sidekick droids...........

Certainly doesn't look like a character that needs pushing out this fast when I still don't have a bunch of Jedi, Count Dooku or an OT Luke that actually LOOKS like Luke yet.

IDK, maybe part of it has to do with the current media support, maybe no less different when Thrawn was all the rave during the books in the 90's and the recent Rebels TV series. Dooku and Luke will always have the support of the movies, but I don't think they require media resuscitation unless Disney feels that they 'require' it, but that IMO is a bit of bupkis reasoning if that's how they feel about it.

Honestly, really excited for this figure. I like seeing expanded U. characters added to the toy lineups. I get the frustration that they haven't released or re-released some classics, but I'll take every EU character possible (I'd love to see some of the "Legends" characters added at some point). I'm a big fan of Aphra from the comics and feel like she adds something to the Universe that we didn't really have before in the old EU. Then again, I'm over the moon about the current era of Star Wars - love the Sequels, love the Spinoffs (besides Rogue One, I guess, which still had the best visual design), love the comics. Happy to see it all come together on my shelf.

Remember guys she's actually the Fan's Choice figure. She won the 3.75" poll and we were told the winner would also be made in 6".

Though she by far is the more baffling winner.

Not saying it wasn't rigged but I find it impossible actual collectors wanted Aphra over ANY of those. Guessing if Emperor or Ahsoka won we'd get nothing.

I think you're right. And that's a terrible poll - it looks like the same nonsense Hasbro pulls on Transformer fans that end up "choosing" releases too. The "winner" is always something they planned to release anyway and just they happen to have a PR campaign ready to go with.

All the EU characters (and Canon) they could have put in a Poll and that's what they come up with?

Where was that conducted because I asked in the Jaina and Revan threads if there had been any Fan Polls since then? Nobody seemed to know.

And for the record there are a TON of EU choices I would love to see out there, just not whoever this By-Committee Tank Girl KO is supposed to be. And her ridiculous/lazy droids.

It was a 3.75" poll, right? Curious how Yakface is just third place, and not even a close third. But I guess that matches well with what you said.
Those polls do seem very suspicious, like audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

I still want the figure though :)

Yes, it was a 3.75" TVC poll. But when asked about 6" Hasbro replied that the winner would get both, I think JTA shared it.

I understand Revan and Jaina. They both got a following and a lot to back them up in terms of media. Aphra was just hot at the time and as always it was skewed by Star wars.com's horrible poll system. The same system that had TLJ as the best SW film vastly winning over all the others. I think even the people on where who love TLJ would agree it's not the best or probably even second best.

Yes I still want the figure, I enjoyed her in the Vader comic. Kinda worried the Aphrs comic will make me dislike her.

So was it said if these were all being released individually? I was watching the Fwooosh and he had said she comes with her droids. I'd be nice if it was a 3 pack not to waste 3 slots in the basic line. Especially when all 3 reuse a fair bit of parts. BT-1 possibly could be all new but even if he isn't it's a more cost effective 3 pack candidate.

Probably why we haven't seen a fan figure poll since. I admit I voted for Darth Talon, at the last one (I think)

It's mediocre at times.

I'm fairly certain that they are to be 3 slots, not 1 3-pack.

I agree 100%. I used to think that people crying foul play over the poll were just naysayers but more and more it seems the system is flawed. I liked TLJ, but it’s nowhere near the top of my list. I’d put it on par with ROTS, which would be a notch above it if George Lucas had let someone else write the dialogue imo. Regardless I read the 1st run of Vader w/Aphra and while it was a good read I’m not sold on buying all 3 figs. I’ll probably make a judgement when I can see something other than promo pics. But after spending $200 on SHF Anakin, OB1, and Dooku I’m trying to be picky and reserved about BS purchases.

I mentioned this in the TVC thread but the same applies here - I know a few different people on various general Star Wars boards who are big fans of Aphra and have never bought any figures before, but are overjoyed to pick this up along with any related figures. Always happy to see new collectors being brought into the market, even if they are just one off purchases

Where was that conducted because I asked in the Jaina and Revan threads if there had been any Fan Polls since then? Nobody seemed to know.

Nominees, if I recall correctly, were chosen by polls in various fan communities (including this one). The final poll took place at Starwars.com.

There has not been a new poll announced in a while, likely because the lead time to produce the winning figure would extend beyond the end of Hasbro's current Star Wars licensing agreement. When and if Hasbro extends their deal with Disney, they will probably resume the fan polls. It's a cheap marketing tool, and even though there is always a lot of complaining about the winners, those figures always sell really well.

I'm really looking forward to this figure and her droids, would love if we got more comic characters without being fans choice.

At least in my area every time her case of TVC was stocked she was gone, only seen her once but the rest I've seen and still find frequently. Even if you don't read or like the comics she'd make a decent background character for pictures, customs, etc.

I'm very interested in all three of those figures I know absolutely nothing about. Especially the droids!! :p

I agree. I really like the character, but she would also make a good backgrounder.

If I don't care for the character or don't know enough about the character to have an opinion, I still judge the figure on it's aesthetics and buy it if I like it. Aphra is one of those cases.
