disgruntledjawa's collection

For those of you that liked the commissioned X-wing pilots that I had done. The artist has released some Star Wars prints. 12 images in the series. Blind packaged with 4 prints in each envelope.

Been awhile since I've been on. What a crazy couple of months. Found out the week before Christmas that I was going to have to move out of my apartment. Foundation issues. I've lived in the same place for 12 years. I had just signed a new lease and then they spring this on me a month later. I'll be downsizing from a two bedroom to a one with this move. Kinda my choice on that (cost thing for the future renewal). The amount of stuff that I've acquired over the last 12 years has been insane. Packing for a move when you weren't expecting to move anytime soon is a bit overwhelming.

So, I ended up canceling my Christmas plans to start packing. Things didn't go as planned. I got COVID and spent the whole break sleeping or laying on the couch. Every time I've scheduled off to move things to storage it's raining. Having to do all of this during one of our busier times of the year at work. And because of covid taking up my Christmas time I've now had to exhaust almost all my vacation packing and getting ready for the move. I'm usually pretty stress-free but these last few months have sucked, stressing me out, my coworkers even said something about it.

Finally making the last push on packing up. I got the keys for the new place today. Movers show up on Thursday.

It's been rough throwing out/donating stuff. Having packed up the collection the was on display and moving stuff that wasn't even on display. I know that i need to get rid of stuff. If I need to move again in a year or a few years, I'm not going through all this again. I was looking at downsizing/streamlining my collection for some time now. With this move its only solidified that. Once I get settled the purge of 2024 is coming. Kotobukiya (Star Wars, DC, Marvel), Gentle Giant busts/statues (Star Wars, Marvel, MCU), other odd and ends. If you're looking for specific things keep an eye out on the GG classified thread. I'll be posting there in the next month.

I've described packing for this move to all my friends like this..."I feel like a broken Roomba, that is just going from box to box, stack to stack, and not picking anything up." I know I've made progress, stuff has gotten packed but I have so much that it just seems like I've got so much to still do before the movers show up...

Now, back to packing.

Wow! It is quite understandable to have been feeling so stressed out. I know how difficult it is having to pack up everything collected through the years, but then you had to deal with COVID plus everything else on top of that ... not easy at all.

I think your decision to downsize your collection is the right move. Sometimes our eyes want more than our space to collect can handle. I've been there and I think one of my best decisions was selling all my animated maquettes and action figures back when I did it. I'm no one to tell you what to collect or how, but in my own experience having a focus on a specific trilogy, despite I like a lot from others, has allowed me to stay in the game longer. Also, if it is within your budget, renting a unit for what you are not displaying but really want to keep helps quite a bit.

Best of luck finishing up packing and with your move in general. I hope it is only for the best. Great to hear from you, Brad!
