disgruntledjawa's collection

Sheesh, now THAT is a nice comic book collection!! Especially love the Shazam / Captain Marvel focus!! As much as I loved the comics, I was not a fan of the new movie. But that is an excellent collection right there.
Thanks, Captain Marvel has always been my favorite superhero. It's a shame what DC has done with him the last several years. I have a Captain Marvel statue on preorder. Hope it comes in before the end of the year.

So I've got a little bit of a dilemma. My comic shop acquired a Sideshow 1/4 scale Avenger's Hulk maquette. This is one piece that I didn't get when it came out because it was too much. The dilemma is, the shop doesn't have room for in their display and asked me if I would be interested in buying it or trading one of my statues. I don't really have the funds plus I'm wanting to downsize.
I have too many in boxes. The only thing that I have that's close to the value is the Kotobukiya Gambit Statue. Gambit fits in a display (currently out because I'm wiring lights) Hulk fits in an old display (no glass door) I was planning getting rid of. 1/4 scale Hulk has me rethinking a lot of my collection now.
Do I trade?

Oh crap! That sucks. I swear every time I see a statue or mini bust like this feels so depressing. That is a really cool mini bust, and the pose is great. I hope you can replace him soon. But I know you are talented and maybe you can glue him back together and repaint him? Sorry to see that happened to you.

Brad, just think which of the two pieces speaks more to you. Which one you prefer to have. It seems to me you really like the Hulk statue, and you've been wanting it for a while. Choose the one you feel will bring you the most joy. You'll be the one looking at it on a daily basis, and from what you are saying the Hulk piece is the one.

As an example, recently I sold my Attakus version #2 statue to Travis, despite I really like that piece. But I came across the Attakus Vader version #1, one I had wanted for years at a good deal and I knew I had to make a choice because I did not have room for both. I chose Version one. That made me happy and at the same time ( I believe) it made another collector happy. :)

I'm already looking at evilBay to see about replacing him. I'm going to look st the forum list. He's beyond repair but I think I might paint him to look like a jedi cut off his arms. What's funny is I was more pissed I didn't get the picture I wanted for the contest. On the plus side. I posted this picture to the GG Ltd Facebook page and they asked if I wanted a Shoretrooper to replace him. Hell yes. I'm not going to turn down a new bust. We'll see how this plays out.

That was a nice gesture on their part. They must have an abundance of Shoretroopers to offer you one as a replacement for an old bust. I remember when Kevin received his Shoretrooper, it was broken and he contacted GG for a replacement. They told him they did not have any, and Kevin passed away having a broken Shoretrooper mini bust. Now they are willing to give them out. I'm happy for you, Brad, though. At least you'll have a new bust which you could either keep or sell/trade to get a replacement for the Scout Trooper one.

That sucks that Kev didn't get a replacement. I wasn't expecting a new bust. I just posted the photo as a be careful. Seems DST is better a customer service than GG.

I know. That was an issue along with my own, which was making me pay for the return of a messed up item, that I always brought to light and nothing was done about it. But like you said, it does seam DST is having better customer service. My own situation was addressed and resolved a few months after they took over, and now seeing they are willing to help with your own issue, gives that impression. I think it is a nice gesture on their part to offer you another mini bust, and when something good like that happens, credit should be given. :)

It made two people happy ;)!

The Gambit statue will be finding a new "temp" home at my comic shop. Seriously reevaluating my comic statue collection. Really digging the 1/6 scale and 1/4 scale statues now. I don't think much, if anything will be changing with the Star Wars stuff, except for another custom bust or two, unless we get more X-wing pilot busts.

On a side note. If I wanted to replace the Gambit statue Sideshow is releasing one and it looks AMAZING!

Brad, when did you send in your picture? From the time I submitted my picture to the time it was posted, it took probably three days.

Got around to cleaning up the 2nd bedroom and got these put in a better box. Anyone know a way to take some of the waves out of cardboard? My Dad picked all these up when I was a kid. If he bought me one and they had a second he'd buy it for himself. 20200713_001022.jpg20200713_001156.jpg20200713_001137.jpg20200713_001112.jpg20200713_001054.jpg20200713_000949.jpg20200713_000928.jpg20200713_000911.jpg20200713_000855.jpg20200713_001214.jpg

Holy crap! Those are awesome! and for the most part they are in fantastic condition. As I've done with my cards back in the day, I think your best bet to keep the waves from progressing would be to place them in Star cases. You can also look into this thread from the Vintage section from 2010 where a few collectors offered some ideas on how to manage the wave issue: Best Way to Flatten wavy Cards

I really like your Obi-Wan display! (y)
Haven't seen that IS Obi-Wan before...pretty good likeness considering the relatively small size. What is it made of?

I always thought that Wedge having the cap under his helmet it made more sense to have him as a snowspeeder pilot. Took the old custom bust I did and swapped out the head with head from a broken Wedge bust. Just need to do some minor paint touch up and permanently attach the head. Now I got some parts to do another custom pilot! I'm thinking Red 10 seeing how GG will never do him. 20200718_130954.jpg20200718_131111.jpg

Looks good! I assume that's a Luke snowspeeder pilot body?
For Nett, are you going to use another Wedge head? His helmet looks pretty similar to Wedge.

I was thinking that but the one on the left is the deluxe Wedge that I have. I don't want to alter that one as it's not damaged. I'm going to get another 1/6 scale head to just use as another pilot. I'm going to repaint the Luke helmet from the snowspeeder bust for Nett.
Another nice custom work, Brad. 👍
Thank you.

Now the biggest/toughest part. To find a 1/6 scale head that can be used as Red Leader or Biggs. I think found one for Red 4 and I think Nett could be the old head that I already had.

Wow! Brad, you are not just finding carded figures, you are finding treasures. Those are revisiting a past that won't come back, and deserves to be preserved. That's the real deal. That's awesome!
I'm thinking of getting the better ones and the few I plan on keeping graded. If its not too much I might get them all graded. I haven't really looked at prices yet.

You should, really. If I had those for sure they would be graded and maintained in the best condition possible. Best of all, it is the memories you've kept of your Dad being part of this, and that to me, as a family man, I think gives them immeasurable value.
