Dengar - #74

I'm glad they're doing him. It looks good to me, although some people were bashing him a bit in the other thread.

Another of my top 10 figures has been plastic- icated or something- you know what I mean. Wow this figure may de-throne my current favorite black series figure which is DiscoLando. The holster and sidearm combo coupled with the head sculpt looks great

I'm excited. A little skeptical about the single jointed elbows, though. Dengar needs to be able to hold his rifle with both hands for that Bounty Hunter line-up shot, and I'm not sure he can pull it off naturally without double-hinged elbows.

They look like they have way more range of motion than the FO stormtrooper and some of the more recent figures, at least.

it's the same dumb crap with all the figures. they give them double jointed knees which no one rally needs, but then the elbows are always single jointed.

I read somewhere it was orders coming down from Disney that new figures could only have single jointed elbows for aesthetic reasons.

That sounds ridiculous. Not saying you're wrong, but if it's true it's dumb. So on a Star Wars character with a more interesting costume design where it can maybe be disguised a bit, it's a no-no. On a Marvel figure wearing a spandex jumpsuit it's a-ok? Donkeys...

So excited for Dengar!!! Guess I'm going to have to hunt down an IG88 online now. Never did see that one sitting on a peg...

His face doesn't look as good as the VC version. That was perfect.

I read this wasa hand painted prototype. If all figures starting in 2018 are going to use the Face Print technology, then he may look different yet. Not that I mind how he looks now...

With this guy coming now along with 4-LOM, this beings my most-wanted list of 6'' figures to: Gamorrean Guard, Bib Fortuna, Bespin Han, and of course Zuckuss. Though I'm not a PT collector much anymore, it is kind of shocking that Mace, Dooku, Grievous, AOTC's Padme, AOTC Anakin, and TPM Obi-Wan haven't happened yet.

Is it me or do his gloves make his fingers too big for the trigger guards of his guns?
Kind of, but I think the angle is making it look bigger. Hope it does, hate when figures can't have it either over or in the trigger guard.

Wish he has a left trigger finger too. Would have encouraged more dynamic poses for me.

I'm surprised they took so many liberties on the face... I like it a lot but seems wierd they create these scars, Looks amlot like Sideshows headsculpt.

Correct. Per the Hasbro reps that revealed these to the collecting sites, all of the TBS 6" figures that were revealed were hand painted prototypes. But they did also add that the new paint printing technology will be used on all figures from January 2018 going forward. It'll be interesting to see how the production paint looks compared with a publicity shot like this one.

Agreed, you can't beat Dengar. The figure looks good, not sure if he'll sell overly well but it's a worthy addition.

Well, I personally never cared much for Dengar. That is until he was released in the Battlefront game, so now I must have that guy in the collection :)
Such a fun character to play in that game.

I'm pretty excited about this. I hope Zuckuss isn't too long a wait afterwards, and might need to go back and find Bossk and IG-88 now for the full set.The bounty hunters are a great point of focus for the Black Series because there aren't so many of them yet they make for an iconic line-up.

That doesn't make any sense. Disney also owns Marvel and the Marvel Legends figures have double jointed elbows. Also, not really sure that Disney has any sway over this type of stuff. Lucasfilm, yes.

Anyway, this is a sure buy for me. Looks great!

We use Disney and Lucasfilm interchangeably. But yes, Lucasfilm is the license holder and approves likenesses and a number of other things I'm sure. Hasbro has confirmed that one of their stipulations was single jointed elbows. Anyone with cloth covering them can get away with double jointed Elbows.

It wasn't always like that, the Clones for instance have double jointed elbows, and it appears that Hasbro is still allowed to re-use that mold.

I have wondered how much say Lucasfilm gets as far as character selection, perhaps even which characters are repacked, though the later may be determined by retailer request.

Looks like Dengar is #74...so I’m assuming the wave after Bespin Han Solo.

No, the next wave after the Bespin Han wave is:

L3-37
Val (Vandor)
Imperial Patrol Trooper

Are wave 19!

So they will be numbered 71, 72 and 73. Dengar being 74 and Hoth Leia and Lando (Skiff Guard) 75 and 76. Or wave 20 if you like. According to UK wave lists there are only 3 new figures per wave, with the rest of the case being re-packs.
