Looks like it. One holds their weapon in outstretched arms like a robot, the other holds their blaster like in the movie.

he looks like he is a kitbash of the 2 pack version with the webgear of the Black Series one.
I think this webgear is actually a different sculpt, like the multiple "same" cloaks that came with the various Kylo Ren figures last year. This version has 3 thermal detonators lined up whereas the Black Series version has the center grenade falling forward (that bugs me so much). Plus, the webbing on the vertical straps is detailed on this version but the Black Series straps are smooth. Kinda weird for Hasbro to spend money on when the original webgear fits fine, just a bit loose. If they'd only packed him with a modified DLT-19 rifle, then I'd have more reason to buy this figure.

Yeah, I was a little bugged about the rifle. They have the modified E-11 for the other troops, why not this one? Not even for the six inch line. And this was the main trooper of the movie.

Is it true that this figures shoulder "buckles/latches" are unpainted under the web gear? I hoping to grab a few and remove the web gear to squad build some basic troopers.

I figured that, being Krennic's personal troops, they might get to pick and choose their equipment over your standard Stormtrooper. For instance, the M16 might not be the best rifle in the world, but it's mass-produced and purchased on contract by the Army and Marines. But if a general's bodyguard got to pick his own rifle, he might pick something better, rarer, and more expensive.

well a few short years ago death trooper ment something entirely different, they were zombie stormtroopers basicly. I'm still trying to get use to the change. Also I keep wanting to call them Shadow Troopers instead of Death Troopers
That sounds like the worst idea in Star Wars history.
