Re: DeAgostini vs Titanium Series Comparison Photos

Just a reminder - the next issue of Lee's Toy Review is going to have an extra pull-out Guide to Titaniums! These are pretty cool reference mags, with a lot of pics. I got the Galoob one from a few years back.

Just adding to my original post - the exact issue number of Lee's Toy Review with the Titanium mini mag is #219. This magazine has the screwiest schedule! The local store where I pick up my magazines has issue #217 on the rack, but according to online resources, issue #219 was released already in February?! I know that's a mistake. Even Lee's website is messed up, showing the latest issue as #215. Anyone know how often this magazine is published? I'm confused!!!

I couldn't find it anywhere, so I got a subscription. my last issue came in feb, there were no titantiums in it. the avengers were on the cover. I am not sure of the number, But it did say winter 2011 instead of the month, so I think its coming out quarterly now. I am expecting the spring issue soon.

Re: DeAgostini vs Titanium Series Comparison Photos

Nice. I was going to ask you to see if the Titanium figure would fit on the DA, but you beat me to it. Not bad. I think this is probably the closest DA to Titanium size match out there.

Re: DeAgostini vs Titanium Series Comparison Photos

Agreed, UnR... really close in scale. Actually, the TS rider's legs are about a "foot" away from the DA's pedals but it's hard to tell. Thought I'd shine it on.

I'd add the Sailbarge, TIE Bomber, ARC-170, and Star Skiff to the list... pretty much identically sized.

DeAgostini vs Titanium Comparison Photos and DA List v2.0

Here's an updated version of the list: added AT-PT, AT-OT, and Home One pics. Since the RS "upgrade", it's not possible to edit old posts so I'll have to re-up new versions now and then. Enjoy! :)

its really surprising that with some of the amazing miniatures DA has done on more complex ships/vehicles that they would choose to do such a crappy job on the Mon Cal ships which happen to be some of the easiest ships to produce compared to other capital ships...........just saying! the only other complaint I had with DA was the poor choice of doing these instead of better stuff. 1.Hyperwing (should have come with Jedi Starfighter, makes more sense) 2.Tie-crawler (should have done E-wing instead) 3.Pod Racer's ( total waste ) 4.Ewok Glider ( didn't like the Ewok's why would I want they're Glider) Im just saying that with so many great cannon stuff left to do they could have given us a few more good ships/vehicles like Naboo Yacht,SPHA-T,Acclamator,Anakin's Air Speeder,PAC,Diamond-class Cruiser, or Republic Gunboat to name a few!

I didn't mind their MC80 but DA definitely dropped the ball on the Home One, Rebel Transport, Nebulon B, Royal Starship, and Naboo Cruiser IMHO. Thankfully, there aren't many that suck but I'd say the Home One is far and away the worst ship they've done. It barely resembles its namesake at all. Most of the others are just shrimpy runts but not badly modelled.

Hehe DE... I don't like ewoks either and I'd prefer those ships on your list too. Especially the E-Wing, Yacht, and the iconic Acclamator.
I suspect Titanium will release none of those and will instead make TCW stuff like a Mando Transport, Freeco, Jedi Turbo Speeder, etc... but who knows?

We probably shouldn't complain (but we will). :) Over 150 different SW vehicle types in the past few years isn't too shabby.

In the Super Star Destroyer pics, who makes the largest one? The second biggest is the WotC version, which I thought was the biggest besides the rare Hasbro one from the 90s.

I'm sorry, I'm new here...

What is the Titanium Series? I've been collecting the DeAgostini series since issue #1 and I am deeply disappointed they are coming to an end. I am looking for a replacement so I can continue collecting since so many excellent vehicles were not included in the DeAgostini series.

Anybody suggest where I can look? And what was the Titanium series?

Kind Regards
Dave

Galoob, the makers of Micro Machines, introduced a line of Die-cast Metal vehicles in 1996, repackaged these several times, then came out with a corresponding line for The Phantom Menace. By that time, Hasbro had bought the company and its assets, so the tooling was used to form a new line that they dubbed Titanium. The Titanium Series ran from about 2005-2009 adding many more sculpts, many repaints, and even a larger scale type (Ultra), and metal figurines the size of the 3.75" action figure line. The line sputtered out with cancelled releases and troubled distribution but many fans really loved it. At San Diego Comic Con last year it was revealed that there would be four 3-packs coming in 2012. Check out the Rebelscum Titanium Photo Archive here.

As a rule, Titanium vehicles are smaller and less-detailed than DA ones, but this is not always the case. There are several other threads in this section that will give you lots of information about Titanium.

Ok guys, this is my last DA: The Wookiee Catamaran. I was surprised at how heavy it is... quite a bit of metal, very front-heavy.

Many thanks to my supercool English friend who made this possible by sending me a Catamaran from the UK. It is greatly appreciated!
I'm really stoked to have finally finished off my DA collection with 73 out of 82 ... and it's been a challenge, to say the least! I'm very sad to see the line end (a great line!) but I won't miss all the hassle of trying to get me mitts on 'em.
BTW, I mounted my Catamaran on a stand from the 3-3/4" scale Tri-Droid walker, after a bit of surgery and a black paintjob for the stand. Still looking for dragonfly wings... any ideas?

I'll try to fix the comparison list up with everybody's pics and I'll ask Phil Wise to "sticky" the final version for future reference. .. or maybe we can combine some photo threads, whatever youze guys think. If anybody can fill in the blanks, please do: it would be great if the list was 100% complete. Please post your pics here or in the other thread and I'll sort it out later. :)

Nice work DD! I really like your approach. Excellent job like usual. I too was surprised at how heavy and nice this one turned out to be. Finding some wings for it will be difficult. I suggest you check out the Tinkerbell aisle at TRU , there just might be one the right size! If it works I'll do it too!

Cheers, DM. Your Catamaran looks great on the TS stand and agreed, the screws are hard to see. I didn't know the screws were reversed like that, actually. Now I'm torn, thanks a lot! ;)
Haven't seen any faerie, pixie, dragonfly, or other insect wings that will work yet, at a reasonable price, anyway. I was looking at Japanese insect gashapon on eBay recently but they're too much dosh. I'll keep you posted; please let me know if you find anything, dude.
Hehe, I've got nieces so the Mega-Pink Uber-Girlie realms of TRU are very familiar to me. It is a strange universe for boys to be in, though. :)

Yeah DW, I might have to make some wings (see above). The biggest issue I'm having is finding reference shots of the wings when they're not fluttering. There are 4 and they're perpendicular to the pontoons but I'm not sure of their exact geometry and arrangement. I did bodge a rotor section together for them, though... I just need wings now.
Hell, I'd like to fix the Titanium Wookiee Flyer's "wings", too. They're pretty far off the mark, methinks.

If anybody has any good Wookiee Catamaran wing reference shots or links, please lemme know. :wtf:

This probably has been answered before, but is it tough to fit the Starship Battles models onto the titanium stands?

Very easy, much easier than mounting the DA ships on Titanium stands, actually. The SSBs are 100% plastic so they're very light and easy to work with: the stands will usually wiggle off with a little bit of effort, they're very lightly glued on. 5 minutes with a Dremel to drill a hole and clean up the ship's belly and you're done.

OK, I'm almost done with the DAs. ;)
Here are a few comparison shots of the WotC, Titanium, and DA BARC Speeders.

Oh, and if anybody can help me out with comparison shots of the following vehicles, please post em! It'd be cool to finish off the list.
TIE Advanced X1
Imperial Speederbike
Y-Wing
Darth Maul's Sith Speeder
(just how big is this one? huge like the STAP?)
Landspeeder
Sebulba's Pod Racer
Anakin's Pod Racer
