I have had this project shelved for years because I was always stuck on how to reattach the cockpit back to the ship. My goal was to update the Outrider and make it more accurate. The rotating B-wing-like feature and big side gun is not accurate and is never present in any media. Now that I have much more experience customizing, I carried over a trick from an Action Fleet custom I did and applied it to this custom.

Here is the original Outrider

I was able to find one for cheap and without stickers. Here is what it looked like after removing certain parts.

So now that I removed the part where the cockpit clips into place, I had to come up with another way to attach it. I bought an aluminium pipe from Home Depot. They had different metal rods to choose from, but I was afraid they were too heavy, so I settled with this one. Plus it is hollow.

Practicing on a spare Outrider, this was what I came up with.

Once that was figured out, I inserted the pipe and used superglue to hold it in place. The holes were made so they were just big enough to fit the pipe in. Then I added some milliput to make sure it holds. Afterwards I covered the exposed areas after cutting off parts of the ship. I masked off the landing gear and spray painted the ship with Rust-Oleum Perfect Gray. I hand painted everything else and finally weathered it.

After having this shelved for years, I'm super pumped I was finally able to complete this! I'm just touching up a few areas, and I plan to superglue the cockpit in place. The aluminium pipes I used are pretty secure, but I want to use superglue to have that added support.

Looks great! I'm sure you can find images of the stickers if you really wanted.

Something I only just learned is by adding Baking soda (and graphite) to super glue, it becomes super strong and bonds to nearly anything.
I was agog when I watched this.

That's a great looking refurbishment, @djcos25 , another small ship masterpiece. And @Utinniii that is awesome!!! I have to tell you, for YEARS I've been using superglue combined with the dust from plastic bits. I've done oodles of projects where I needed to sand some bit of hard plastic and I always carefully knock the dust into a little plastic bin. Then I use it along with the superglue and it really is unbelievably strong, like welding something together.

Outrider is done and cleared for liftoff! I finished touching it up today. I pulled the ship open, added superglue and closed it, eliminating the rotating feature. I also added superglue onto the aluminum tubes and attached the cockpit back on.

Sweet! Hey??? Where'd you get that snazzy stand for the B-wing in the corner?
I got them from Display Stands Direct. I also got stands for the A-wings, X-wings, TIE Fighters/Bombers/Interceptors, Vader's and Snowspeeders there. I passed on the Y-wings as if I used a stand they would be blocking the titaniums. Instead I opted to lay them flat rather than use the landing gear. I read that on some Y-wings, over time the landing gears may become faulty.

Nice work.

I always found it sad that there's re4ally no interior to the ship. I think it's a cool design and it would have been cool to have some kind of crew lounge like the Falcon.

Thanks!

When I cut off the part where the cockpit clips into place I thought about adding a seat under the laser cannon, but the area was a bit too small and I would have had to make some kind of door which is beyond my skill-set.

It looks amazing. The only thing that could improve it would be to add greeblies to the inside walls where you removed the hull so it doesn't look so empty.
