I've really liked this figure; aside from the issues some are having with the neck post, it's worked out well for me and it is clearly the best incarnation of Vader we've received (TVC93 Vader as a close second).
For me, the test is simply popping the fiure out of his blister pack. My original non-corrected head literally flew off when I took him out, while the "fixed" version's head stayed on without incident.
Just move the head around uo and down. The non-corrected one just kind of falls off while the corrected Vader's head will stay on like it is supposed to.
No problems with the VADER I purchased. This figure is one of the best in my book, I'm not to picky and I know there have been some horrific Vaders released but this one is right for me.
Museum Wax also works perfectly for any loose heads - and it's removable if you want to get rid of it later! (Also makes character head swaps where the head is too large for the ball a breeze...)
Has anyone else done this to make sure this wasn't mass hysteria?
having heads fall off before touching the figure is not mass hysteria. Loads of people complained about it so much that Hasbro had to retool the bubble on the head and re-release it. Considering how they like to keep their money I would suggest this caused a lot of angst for many collectors.
i have 150 loose figures and not one had the issue I have with decapitating action Darth Vader. Mass hysteria it was certainly not.
I have more problems keeping his torso connected to his waist
To each his own I guess but the vaders in this line are just plain boring to me. Its not that they are bad figures but I just don't get very excited about new vader figures anymore. The only one that really had any potential to interest me was the dagobah vader but with a non-removable head? Please...I hated that Emperors Wrath one. I wasn't a fan of that one at all.
