Please use this thread to talk about the 3inch SA figure of ANH Darth Vader, who's going to buy it?

2004 VOTC figure. This is an embarrassment. And the bean counters will wonder why they are taking a bath on Star Wars again

I thought this was an episode VI Darth Vader?

Anyway, easy pass. I'm more than happy with my BS Episode III Vader. Don't really care about cape or helmet variations between movies.

This is the damn 500th figure. Swivels worked fine for a figure who just sits, but it should have stayed as a one off. Saga, Saga Legends, battle packs, this thing had a long, undeserved life. I do so hope these don't hamper the later waves..aka the ones based on the movie these things are supposed to tie into.

You guys want your SA 3 inchers? Well here ya go!

Honestly though that wave is ****ing garbage. Why even bother if they are gonna release stuff like that.

How is this necessary? If they were going to repack Vader for this line, again, surely there are far better sculpts that they could use. Were these just already made in a factory somewhere years ago and they need an excuse to package them up and ship them out? I get they want to keep Vader on the shelves but this is ridiculous.

What's the longest gap between repacks? This (and Chewie) are surely setting the record.

IKR, what about Vintage ANH Vader or BS ROTS Vader? Hasbro made their buck so they can now back out of the SA line and state it's not their fault. Of all the companies that they stuck it to it kinda makes this move bittersweet since Wal Mart is a morally reprehensible company but I didn't want it to be at the cost of the line I love.

Ewok Leia was pretty close to this. She came out in January 98 in the POTF2 and then they re-released her with an slightly retooled SG skirt in the 2007 DVD tins. So that was almost 10 years.

Only 3 figures in wave 1? Is that the pattern following waves will follow? Also, could that mean each wave only contain 6 figures?

Vader, Luke, Chewie? Repacks? OLD repacks? Not a SINGLE collector oriented figure? Not a SINGLE TFA figure here? (Okay, they're supposed to come... IF this subline survives its first wave and Walmart doesn't cancel it right away again...)

Seriously, a VADER? Vader has just been repacked in the TFA for the kids in 5POA. Vader has been packed in the BS (and been repacked and carried forward already).

This "continuation" of the BS disgusts me. It is much worse news than the TFA deficits.

Hasbro, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Forum member Seize9 posted a pic of his find and it looked to total 12 figures hanging on the pegs, so 4 of each. Hopefully this first wave will be limited in numbers and is only being used to "prep" for the far better and more anticipated waves to come!

I certainly hope so. I want to support the line after seeing the fantastic Wave 2 with Kylo, Leia, F.O. Stormtrooper, etc. But I am having a hard time working up a reason to buy these first 3.

My only interest is in the Chewbacca, but its still not enough interest to buy himnow. I saved up only so much for Force Friday and as it stands I'm going to be using those funds (all I bought on Friday was Rey's Speeder…) for these new Black Series figures and to prepare for anything thats coming out in the next few months. I fully intend to support this line as much as I can, and I'll pick up a 5POA background character here and there in the other line and the occasional Mission Series set if it's interesting enough or for "Rebels" figures. Otherwise, my focus is 100% on this line.

It's one thing to re-release previous figures, but to package a figure with swivel elbows and shoulders in a line supposedly targeted at SA collectors when there are better figures of the same character that could have been released is an absolute slap in the face. And to charge $12-$13 for it is even worse. How much did it cost back in 2004? The new TFA black series figures had better be pretty dang good to make up for this embarrassment.

This is an easy pass, since I already have him. Hopefully, they really mean limited when they say this first wave is limited. I guess we will see how well this Vader can sell himself.

Yep, it better be what has been stocked at this moment and that's it. People's pics already reveal that they are not moving. If anymore cases of this crap show up the new stuff is doomed. Hasbro is an idiot.

This figure will sell. There are always going to be new collectors to the market, especially with a new movie behind it. Just a shame that a casual Star Wars buyer may not realise there are far better Vaders out there.

I'm not worried even if he does peg warm for a few months because he will eventually sell through. It's not exactly Yarna.

Sadly, you're right. In the past year or two alone there have been far better Darth Vader figures released in the Black Series, and yet here this one is. It's almost as though crates were discovered in a warehouse in China that were full of old leftover 500th Vaders and Hasbro decided to use them, and here they are...

I kid, I kid. But with the holidays quickly approaching there's every reason to hope that casual shoppers and passerby's will see this Darth Vader figure and think of it as a nice gift for someone, and maybe it's numbers will deplete and he won't be hanging around for too long. Hopefully none of those buyers end up being any of our relatives or family members either :wtf:

They still have never re-released the VC93 ANH Vader. This was the perfect opportunity to, too!! It would be something if they corrected this after the first shipments and released that Vader instead in subsequent cases. Even though it isn't ANH accurate, which this Vader isn't either, the eecent ROTS Vader would have been a much more awesome choice to release here as well.

Helloooo McFly!!! Anybody in there?? Think McFly!! (McFly obviously being Hasbro)

That VC93 is probably my favorite too. Good call. These 3 releases are just total head scratchers.

I would LOVE for Hasbro to re-release the Vintage Collection ANH Darth Vader. That would make for a great running-change in this first wave.

One can dream I suppose.

Yes, it's a bad choice of figure for this line, but maybe this wave is realy limited and WMs only get 1-2 cases per store. Also, if TVC really Comes back in some form in 2016, I'd rather they repack the #93 Vader there as oppsoed to using this Vader on a TVC Card.

What an awful first wave. I may pick up one Vader to keep carded (something I can't afford to do anymore) to support the SA line, but I'm not sure...

Imagine if this had been the Vintage Collection ERG instead...

Can you imagine launching this line with ERG, Ahsoka (realistic), and Republic Trooper? Then WM would have an appreciation of what collectors can offer.

Agreed. The choices are really poor. They could have at least started with one TFA figure and 2 of the repacks if they had needed to. I get that's it's a limited wave, but what is the Limit here? 2 cases per store? 10,000 of each figure?? Even when it's limited, that doesn't mean that a local WM might get clogged with one of the three figures.

Like someone said in another thread: if this is a collectors' line, then why are they starting it with kid-friendly figures? This constant Argument of collecters coming back into the fold and meeding the heroes and villains just doesn't do it for me. If I'm a former collector coming back into this, I think I'd have enough sense to check online sources and find out which figures have been available over the last few years and find places online where I might be able to find a whole bunch of what I Need all at one time.

I just hope this figure does not get carried Forward into waqves 2,3,4,....etc. I also hope that at the next con/fair, the collector websotes ask Hasbro why there had to be a wave of repacks in a collectors' line, that None of the collectors were asking for.

Did Hasbro add Luke and Vader in the 5 poa line because stores were afraid nobody would buy the other figures and they needed some strong anchors? Oddly enough the 6" line was basically able to go with 4 completely new characters and an older Version of Chewbacca, without a Vader and Luke repack.

Big pass for me, already happy with the Vader figures I already own.

Looking at that first wave, i can picture gray haired guys in suits at a Wal*Mart/Hasbro meeting discussing the best way to make profit out of a collector focused Star Wars line. Approaching the problem with preconceived ideas on what Star Wars icons are and what will bring customers to their stores. Unless Wal*Mart had collectors or toys enthusiasts at the helm of their purchasing department, outcome is predictable. especially since Hasbro people in charge of Star Wars proved how disconnected they are from grown up collector's community... at least those of us that refuse to start all over again at a larger scale.

Yes even the Bespin Luke & Vader from the 5POA collection is such a weird decision. Nobody cares about these and only picked them up to assemble those silly accessory things. TVC Ep IV Vader would have been the least of what Hasbro could have done here. The best could have been any dozen of great characters collectors are still wanting more of. The Jedi Luke still with silly robe is a joke. And Chewy has been released over and over, most recently in the last couple TBS waves I think. How are collectors supposed to receive this other than with anger & frustration? Why would any of us buy these? It is a movie year, give us the new figures/characters and quit playing games.

Saw him today. There are figures that I would happily buy (maybe) but this is not one of them. And they had like 3-4 of him but were out of all the new 5 POA figure waves which includes Vader. Just seems like a poor choice for Wave 1.

Definitely not buying this one. My 2 cents, if Hasbro wants to release any Vader figures in the future, just use the Black Series Ep 3 version. That is by far the best Vader figure produced, imho.

While I also don't understand why this vader figure was chosen for a new collector focused line I would like to know if anyone recommends purchasing the 500th vader with the meditation chamber? I never bought it when it was new and hasbro rereleasing this figure made me curious.

Ahsoka would be a good one. She's VHTF figure, that didn't see enough distribution the last time. Plus she's a popular among kids, and still in the ***** eye. Sadly it won't happen, because now there's the 5POA Rebels Ahsoka to focus on. The republic trooper is inconsequential to me, but would upset me if released.

ERG would have been nice, as well as Panda. There's a lot really that could be reissued, but probably wont be.

I would definitely recommend it. More for the chamber itself because there are better Vaders, but at the time that was a great Vader as well.

What bothers me with this choice is less the Version, but the idea of rebooting the collector line without anything new. I think the repack of Han (assuming he's a straight repack) is a waste as well. I could probably have taken a Vader in the first wave, if Kylo and the stormtrooper had been there as well.

However, I will say that if this wave is really limited, then it might sell through quickly enough. It also means that there in the following two waves there is only 1 repack, that is, assuming the we don't see some foolish carry Forwards from wave 1.

If Hasbro cf's any of the wave 1 figures into waves 2 or 3, then that's proof they are really trying to kill off this line.
