Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced

It looks like it retailed for $99.99 here in the US. I think I picked up a second one on clearance for $50, which is why I have that number stuck in my head. Regardless, this costs more and has worse customer support for a known issue.

You know, now that you mention it, I believe you're right, and my memory was playing tricks on me. I went to audition for being a background extra in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland in October 2008, and was called back for the second day of casting rounds. I didn't get a part, but I went into the Toys 'R' Us which was right next to the multi-storey car park where I parked, and over the course of two days, walked out with a BMF, an AT-TE, a Green Leader A-Wing, and two of the then-brand-new Big-Wing TIE Fighters.

I think I got the AT-TE cost (£100) mixed up with the BMF cost (£150), and then conflated the BMF's price with both of their prices combined, because I thought it was £250.

Darned good couple days of shopping, though! That Plymouth TRU had freakin' SDCC exclusives from previous years that I'd already gotten from BBTS, including the McQuarrie Concept R2 & 3PO and Obi-Wan & Yoda!

None of which excuses the fact that the new DVTF costs more than the AT-TE, is smaller, has no electronics or action features, and is missing that blasted control yoke targeting sticker!!!

Well, if the official reason is that they forgot to print the stickers and figure it's too late now, that is horrible customer care. That they just can't be bothered to finish your $140 purchase is beyond lame.

As someone who didn't buy one, my only recourse is to wait for a potential second run someday in the future (50th Anniversary packaging?) that will likely cost more and potentially still not correct the issue. Another reason I am glad I have been eschewing preorders.

I thought I had posted the graphic I made for the targeting display. Here is the full res image that only needs to be scaled down to size to print….

While the red indicator lights look a bit unrealistic at full scale they look fine when printed small. As seen in my previous post here is the end result…

Not sure if posting this here is against the rules….
If enough people are interested I guess I could print a whole sheet of them & cut the sheet down to pieces with 2 prints (a backup just in case the first gets damaged trying to apply it). For a dollar plus postage I will send the print. It would only require cutting them out (very easy). If interested say so in this thread. If there is enough interest I will do so & have those interested direct message me.

This isn’t something I want to continually do so it would be a one time thing.

Just watch. This TIE will be repacked in 2027 as a retail release with the sticker and possibly at a cheaper price.

Sure would be nice. My two SOLO TIE-Fighters need something to flank and my X-Wing with hit R2 something the be persued by. But the thing is, I got all three for less than the cost of this TIE Advanced. I know times have changed, but one can hope the price will be closer to €50-70.

I'd be interested in taking you up on that offer, if I may!

I’d be interested in a sticker.

Hello All. Put in a preorder with EE. I'm wondering, are these warehouse overstock from Pulse, or perhaps a new batch with the targeting computer decal included (fingers crossed). Forgive me if Mr. Stevie addressed this and I missed it.

Only if you're thinking of cancelling the order. So far, BBTS has played it completely straight with me, and I've dealt with them for over 20 years.

Well correct. But in my opinion (and short Rounds) It's just going to mean less business for them.

My guess is these are the same run as the initial sticker-less version. If there was another batch with stickers, Hasbro might offer the option of replacement to those customers that reached out with inquiries.

That said, until someone opens an EE purchase, we can not know for sure...

Logical assessment. As for a post about opening an EE purchase, I volunteer my services. Once I open the box, I may even quietly say "I have you now."

I also had that wonder.

There was a thread on a gi Joe forum about how much BBTS sucks now. It was curiously started on the same day they sent out their tariff email and statement. The guy obviously got butthurt over political issues when he started the thread, but everyone chimed in to defend and support BBTS. That says a lot about- especially on a Joe forum. Every time I see someone mention BBTS I think about that hysterical thread and I hear Slingblade’s voice saying “you been real square dealing with me um hum”.

I've tried to maintain a presence in at least one Facebook group for every property in which I have some stuff to unload, and a general toy collector one. And I had to jump to another Joe group, because CRIPES, the one I started in went simply UNHINGED very rapidly. The kind of guys you would want several responsible government agencies keeping an eye on. Like a mess of Burt Gummers, but without the charisma, brains, rationality, demure restraint, and fitness regime.

Pffft. They've been doing that for pricey items for a while, now. Admittedly, that's probably the lowest price I've seen a non-refundable deposit for. But they don't seem to be suffering any.

Are you in the USA? Where are you seeing all of these non-refundable deposits on pre-orders????
