When I first started customizing a few months ago, the main reason was I wanted to fill in the skiffs in my sail barge display so they were complete. And of course I went nuts from there and did like 50 or so customs between Jabbas palace and the cantina.

I did buy one custom figure off of ebay, and that was of yotts orren. I just thought that looks too complicated and I don’t think I’ll ever do that. And I was happy with the custom I bought at the time. But then as I got more practice I thought, hmmmm, I think maybe I’ll take a crack at it. So I did. And here he is. The coloring looks better in person.

I also decided I ought to repaint the Sebulba
I have in my Jabbas palace to make it a little more screen accurate. I didn’t bother with the hair that it looks like the newly added one has, but overall it fits in better instead of being a tpm sebulba. I would have painted the purple skin too but I wasn’t sure what color to paint it.

Awesome job on both! It was only recently that I noticed that Dug in ROTJ myself, he comes slinking in for a split second while everyone is sleeping in Jabba's throne room.

Thanks!! Yeah it’s kind of crazy who you start to notice in the background when you start customizing! One of the last jabba palace denizens I made was laudica and that’s only because I had an extra body that would work for her. I had no desire as i was like who is that??? Then the last time I watched the movie I was like oh crap, she’s in a LOT of scenes!!! Just never noticed her before.

Oh, and regarding sebulba, I’m not crazy about the paint job that Hasbro did, and it looks like the one in Jabbas palace looks like a different color and has some hair, but there aren’t any good close up pics and he’s kind of mixed in with the crowd so I figure close enough.

You’re correct, they are skiff lando’s legs. I liked how it looks like the fabric is baggie and pooled up by his knees like yotts has. I wish it had a little more detail in the upper part though. I tried out han’s legs but he looked too skinny. The han’s legs had a good built in contour for the darker crotch area though that more closely resembled the outfit in the movie. But ultimately I decided lando’s legs worked better.

Here are all the figures and parts that went into making yotts:

That’s great! You’re now good on Yotts. I wish I were good on Yotts! I also really like the Sebulba repaint.

That's a slick parts combo. Using a section from the Ponda Baba jacket for the shoulder pieces is especially out-of-the-box. (y)

Thanks! I can’t tell you how handy ponda baba’s jacket has been! I’ve used it for soooo many customs. Trim a little piece here for a pouch, trim a long strip for a strap. It’s been great! I just happened to be going through my random parts trying to figure out the collar and I saw that and I was like that’s perfect! It just happened to be left over. I did have to trim a little piece to fill in the area by the throat. And the straps that go under yotts’ arms are also cut from Pondas jacket.

If you’re up to tackling Yott’s I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about it. I’d put him off and had never planned on doing him but he ended up being a lot easier than I thought he would.

Wow, these are some top notch customs! Amazing work on all of 'em! So many more characters peeking out of the corners of the frame than I've ever noticed. So cool you were able to bring these one-frame-wonders to vivid life!! And that Solo head looks just as much as that guy as it does Harrison Ford! :D

Thank you very much! I appreciate it! I was going to paint the han head lighter still but then looking at the guy in the movie I see his hair is kind of dark so I’ll stick with the brown. I also added a little neck flesh tone as well.

And yeah it’s crazy how many characters you start to notice. I mentioned this somewhere before, but after watching jedi after starting to customize it was crazy how many characters actually got a lot of screen time, but I just didn’t notice them because your attention is drawn elsewhere.

When I was looking for reference photos I saw some super super obscure ones. Reading the descriptions people were like oh you have to study the shadow movements to see what’s part of the costume and what’s lighting and you can lighten up the frame to see them better and I was like ummm no. That’s too far!

Although I did notice in the scene where han and luke are being taken away there is a duros as plain as day, sort of, in the background. I’d actually be curious to make him just as there is an aqualish as well that I have an extra head for, but on both of those there are no photos of their outfits so I’m not going to make something up. The aqualish was just in a behind the scenes photo off to the side.

Speaking of characters who didn’t get a lot of screen time, I saw this guy pop up quite a bit while looking for reference photos for others so I thought I’d make him. Relatively quick. Not amazing, but a decent representation.

Really great work, including the new guy. It's super fun to see these pictures and "discover" these hidden characters. I was rewatching a scene from ANH the other day as a reference for a dio I'm working on and I saw a female human extra that looks like you could make super easily just by repainting a "cami" figure and I thought, hmmm, if I ever finish this dio, I definitely need to stick her in it. But it's one of those "you're looking elsewhere" kind of moments, so you could see the movie 50 times and not notice her.

Very cool stuff!

I realized I should post all my customs in one place instead of making new posts for all of them, so I’m just adding my other customs here that I had posted in their own thread. Nothing new here. I will say the blond woman has her back to me in the cantina as the paint on her face looks ghastly (they can’t all be facing forward, right?) and I tried practicing doing eyes for the tonnika twins but I got to the point where I decided it wasn’t worth the effort as you don’t really even notice their eyes in the display.

Thanks again! Is the one you’re talking about any of the ones I just posted above? I used cami for two of them.

Do you have customs posted here? I really should check out the other customs but I’m afraid I’ll be like oh, that’s way better than mine!

Haha! yes, it's the red tunic Cami! Well spotted, sir! I have an extra cami (actually, she's in parts in the custom bag) that I've always wanted to use for a custom, but never quite got all the pieces together, so maybe I'll just turn her into that Tatooine gal once I finish my dio (which will be a while!)

Nice! As soon as you mentioned that I knew exactly who you were talking about. As I recall she can be very briefly seen in the cantina as well and was originally going to be seen hanging out with han. There are some behind the scenes photos of them together at a table that I saw, plus I read that too. I figured I had to make hans woman! That was super easy to do.

What a great selection of photos.

Let me know who you want detailed photos of. If they were in the Cantina or Jabba's Palace, I probably have them. Some costumes were reused so for example, the old woman in the cantina surrounded by the spacers can also be seen selling liquid near Docking Bay 94.

Thanks! And Awesome! Do you have any photos of the duros or aqualish in Jabbas palace where you can see their costumes?

There’s also a guy who is wearing dark blue and kind of looks like a renaissance looking outfit that I guess was standing on Jabbas throne at one point. He seems a bit too obscure but I might consider him.

Are you sure it's the same gal? Similar clothes, but they look different to me.

Exact same costume but different actor. Swilla's costume also makes an appearance on the street.
Just like this costume is the same but the actors are different (Old woman sitting among Spacers)

Here are the pics you asked for as well as some lesser known denizens. Note that 2 of the "Humans" were later given alien masks (like Yam face and the Duros). Some of these are Special Edition additions.

Palejo is actually not that tall

What uttinniii said! I saw that they were different woman when looking at pictures but i figured maybe it was an issue of it was supposed to be the same character since the outfit is identical but maybe the first actress wasn’t available on that other day of filming so they just threw the clothes on someone else. At least that’s what I’m sticking with!

Whoa!

Why’s that bossk looking guy putting on a helmet?? Palejo wasn’t in the cantina too, was he????
Palejo's Back!!!

I'm sure many have not seen him from this angle.

And thanks for posting all those pictures! Those are great! I may do the other two astronaut guys as I’ve got two of the skiff guard three packs coming in October from ee as I need vedain and vizam for some customs but no longer need the brock starshers but I can use them for the astronaut guys.

It looks like the aqualish in Jabbas palace is just basically wearing a black jumpsuit. Maybe they didnt plan on showing the body and figured just the head would be visible?

The duros, it looks like he has a bandolier or a vest on. I don’t know if it’s enough to customize a figure off of unless I use my imagination to fill in the blanks.

And who is that white droid in that one picture where you see some of the profile. It kind of looks like cz-3 but looks different.

You're welcome!

That is Bossk. The actor is pulling off the mask and not a helmet. In the cropped photo I used, it does look like a helmet (I'm not at liberty to show the full photo).

The Duros costume is the "Wilderness Fighter". In early shoots, he and "Yam Nose" were human but were later given Alien masks to wear.

That is the best image of the Aqualish I can find. I'll check to see if there are some shots of a human wearing that costume, but I doubt it.

It is a CZ. We see 2 in the Palace. The first is only remains in the dungeon and the second is on screen when Han and Luke reunite.

Yeah, those are great photos, very interesting stuff. Some of those backgrounders are unusual by comparison to other images I've seen. And yeah, that CZ looks like he has an 8-D8 head on a CZ-3 body sorta.

So the duros is wearing this costume? I’m having a hard time matching up the collars and the jacket. I just assumed that wilderness fighter was from Endor or something cause green camouflage on tatooine doesn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense!

Seems like it would be a fairly easy custom.

So I'm wrong about the Aqualish. You can see him sleeping in the first alcove when Boush sneaks in. You also see him twice more as Han is shoved past him and during Jabba's sentencing. In the last scene, he has something shiny on both shoulders.
IF he is repurposing a costume, then it looks the most to be Bane Malar (tall boots with baggy pants) but without the gloves.

Yes, the Duros = Wilderness fighter. Everyone assumed he was an Endor soldier until he was seen in some backstage footage in Jabba's palace.

You can see the CZ clearly in the Han meets Luke- Jabba's sentencing scenes. There is a close up of the costume in the Dungeon when 3-P0 is dragged away for his restraining bolt.

I watch the scenes frame by frame since a slight movement might reveal something I didn't notice before. I also take screen shots and play with the color levels. Use the new Disney 4K editions for clarity.

Wow! I had no idea the aqualish showed up so many times! I’ll have to check that out.

While looking up the duros, I came across a custom Echo_6 had done and he posted a picture of the wilderness dude in what appears to be the outfit that was worn in the movie without the jacket. The collar also matches up with that seen in the movie as well as the vest looking thing. I also found their name: Leslomy Tacema. They’ve even got a ccg card but for that they clearly just used a shot from ANH.

And it looks like I’m going to need another couple of boshek helmets to do those other spacers. Boshek is more expensive than you’d think. All just for that damn helmet!
