Custom Vehicles From The Star Wars Universe

I'd like to see pics of that. What did you do to get the designs on the wings?

I'll have more pictures soon. The wings are a custom cut design from plastic (from my own templates) then details are kit bashed much like all of the stuff I'm creating. Thanks for the interest.

Hey all!

Well, I finished my X-wing! This one was a lot of fun, but cramming everything in was a bit of a pain. Not sure what the next project will be, might not be another maquette since the wife wants a full-size Tom Servo :D

So, first I started with an F/X X-wing from 1996. I took it apart, and started cutting. I had to take out the switches and slides, then patch the holes and greeblie it up. I was going off photos of the original shooting model.

I had to be careful with the order of operations, so I wouldn't back myself in a corner 10 steps later. I wired in concave high-output LEDS for the engines.

After that, I started fabricating the wing assemblies to get the proper hollow wing look. I also made scratch side panels for the length of the nose.

After that, it was time to run the rest of the electronics, fiber optics, and get to work on a scratch dash display and target computer. Running the fiber to R2's dome was a pain :D

That brought me to the painting, and weathering. Lots and lots of passes, and a hot iron to make some of the blaster damage.

Then came wiring up the power box. I went with a utility switch for this one, instead of the sleek lit angel eye for the Interceptor. I like the idea of the switch matching the worn utility of Rebellion hardware...

So, more touchups, adjustments, then it all came together! I'll step away from it for awhile so I can get fresh eyes on it. I post WIP pics to my Instagram account all the time! https://www.instagram.com/booyotch/

Thanks a bunch! Yeah, i learn something new with each one, and try to learn something. Next up is learning Arduino, and integrating servos!

I went back and re-worked most of the falcon since i took those pics.

I usually dump photos to my flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/thebooyotch/

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I have a custom ship I'm building, how do I post pics from mobile?

I literally found this dragon/dino/gozilla knock off on the sidewalk yesterday. It will either be a great Krayt Dragon Mount or some sort of rpg dragon once reconstructed:

tVAUcP.jpg

I deconstructed it and took out all the broken electronics and gears. It was a bit of a broken mess. One arm was missing, so I think this calls for a Imperial Bionic Arm!

The vertical wing post is now removable, so I can directly insert a sandtrooper into the hole, or I may craft a saddle for v groin-ed fantasy figures.

It actually looks fairly close to the now cannon appearance of the Krayt:

Cheers!

It was suggested that I post this custom here after accidently posting on someone's private thread. My 3.75in custom "Rogue One" RED 5.

DSC040282.JPG

I had a Vintage Collection "Biggs" X-wing that required a new set of wings a few years ago, after he lost yet another battle with gravity. Managed to find a set of Luke's RED 5 wings from the older "Trench Run" set, and had originally planned to repaint the fuselage, but kept putting it off. When I was going through and weathering some of my older customs, I decided this setup was perfect for the R1 version.

I only saw R1 once, so I doubt this'll be screen accurate, but wanted to share anyway.

I have never seen this before, and I have to say this is incredible. How do you build this thing? It looks like it's brand new, right off of some sandcrawler and speeder dealership!

hi Booyotch,

You're X-WIng is amazing. Did you just use a sheet of plastic to get the 'hollowed-out wing' look? If so, where did you get it (Hobby Lobby, Michaels, model shop, or elsewhere)?

Here's a few Action Fleet customs I recently did. They are a Partisan X-wing from Rogue One and Red Leader Garven Dreis' X-wing. I like doing customs with Action Fleets as they are my favorite line and take up less space then full scale vehicles.

Still would like to touch up the figures once I get a thinner paintbrush.

Nice! I can't imagine having to paint Red leader's R5 at AF scale though. :{D

Rey's Speeder Mod
I cut out the mesh and replaced it with an onion bag. I also created the small bag from hockey tape and a garlic mesh-bag. I also painted a few coats of different paints to weather the speeder.

Jawa Swap Meet and Race

Here's a bunch of vehicles I've made for my Jawas.
The orange Stap is new, as is the glider. I gave the MM Sandcrawler a dark wash.

The Jerba, hover skid, VIPER, and 2 swoops are old, but I'm reposting them since the Photosuckit links no longer work.

I bought a Dollar store Moltoy Tank for the treads of my custom Assault Tank. I decided to use the body to make a Hover Tank. It is smaller, faster and more maneuverable. I used the pieces I didn't need from my first tank.

I actually got a lot of mileage from that Montoy Tank. 2 R1 tanks, the cannon was used as part of the Jawa grapple arm and now I just finished a speeder from the head. I included samples of the 2 drink containers I used for the engines.

Has anyone tried to take a TFA X-Wing and swap the BB8 for an R2 unit/head? Thinking about doing this but not sure how complicated it might be.

I recently did weathered and de-nerfed the Star Wars Rebels Hera Sydula A-wing . Anyone else hated when they added nerf blasters to vehicles back in around rogue one ? If you want to see the full video on how to do this mod - consider taking a look at my video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqGxOcy3A2Y

I know it’s been a while since they’ve aired, but Im getting ready to begin some CW Jedi Starfighter customs & I had a question about whether we saw some Jedi w/a Starfighter or not. Please correct me if I’m wrong with the following list and please help me fill in any missing blanks:

*Saesee Tiin—(same design as Aayla’s, only difference being color swaps—i.e. green in place of red/maroon, etc), as seen in the (final?) Citidel episode.
*Even Piell—Am I dreaming or did we see him in a brown & white/cream insignificant design?
*Aayla Secura—Any vehicle?
*Adi Galia—(design slightly similar to Plo Koon ‘diagnal stripes’ but in dark red) I believe was also in the Citidel episode
*Ki-Adi-Mundi—Nearly positive he too was in the Citidel rescue. Yes? No?

Has anyone ever customized Obi-Wan’s full size ROTS white/blue Starfighter to make it into the proper grey/blue colors? I know they eventually made the grey/blue version, but it was one of those mini-me versions of the vehicles they started to make around 2013-2014.

I made a new 3D printed cockpit piece for the Mission Fleet Razorcrest so the retro figures can fit inside.

That is amazing plastic geek. You'd think the toy makers would have done that in the first place.

The ship itself is plenty big enough to be a nice compact freighter for a 3.75” figure. But it would have to be flown by a Jawa or an Ugnaught or someone to fit a pilot! 😜

Ewoks in the New Republic!

Idea finding.

Bought a used and incomplete ATOC Saga Series 3,75 gunship today by chance on ebay for only 56 Euro(!) including shipping and start thinking about a repainting. Any experiences or ideas? Bright colours or better a dark grey starship?

And I am looking for some spare or 3d printed parts like the front/back canons or self made doors or ball turrets.

Any ideas are welcome.

I have always felt that the gunship design was one of the best in the SW universe (even better than the falcon).

Something that might resemble either a Sopwith Camel (WW1 British) or a Red Barron (German WW1) design adaptation.
