Re: How About a Commissions Sticky?
Yippee! I feel like quoting Pinky Lee, but I shall refrain.
Okay, for the record, I will occasionally take commissions, based on how much time I have to spare, whether or not the project is within my capabilities, and whether or not I have access to the right materials. I'm not that terribly good at sculpting (in my whole nine-year customising career, I think I've only ever sculpted two really, really simple droid heads and some insignificant greeblies), but like to think I'm fairly competent at parts-swaps, paint jobs (but not great at weathering), and soft goods.
For an idea of what I can do, you can check out
The A. Nonymous Gallery for customs done under yet another pseudonym of mine, and for my latest (and to date,
only) commssioned work (with feedback!) you can see it at the bottom of the
Blitzkrieg's Kustom Kaos page.
BEEDO'S TERMS:
1) PAYMENT: Considering how bloody inconvenient it is to swap currency and how much I distrust online or bank fund-exchanging, I prefer to be paid in toys, usually action figures. Blitzkriegtrench came up with a system I like very much: one action figure in payment for one commissioned custom, though I might want to renegotiate for larger orders (as in, slightly modifying a standard "beast" is no biggie, but repainting a squad or more will cost you). Send your payment with the raw materials (see Point 3 about Materials), and I will start on your custom as soon as possible.
2) SHIPPING: You pay the shipping to me, I'll cover the shipping back to you on all action figure projects. Anything larger than standard action figures, I'll decide on a case-by-case basis.
3) MATERIALS: I'm happiest if the commissioner provides all the action figure parts necessay for a custom, though I do have a huge parts bin that
might be able to cover any shortfalls. As for soft goods, paints, and greeblies, all that's covered in my fee. If you want your figure gloss-coated, that's also covered, but if you want dull-coat, you're on your own. I haven't found any of the stuff in England yet (but if there are any other British customisers out there who could point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful).
4) VEHICLES: I've never done a custom vehicle before (the weapons clips on my AT-RT were so damn simple, I don't actually even count that as a proper custom), and I wouldn't feel comfortable taking any commission on a project I could screw up so catastrophically. Unless you actually
want a wrecked ship, in which case, I'll have a crack at it, but you'd have to pay for shipping both ways.
5) TIME FRAME: I try to get projects done as quickly as possible, but sometimes unforseen circumstances can crop up in life. Once I get a figure, it can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a week to finish a custom, depending on the complexity. I'll send customs back by surface mail, which varies a
lot in shipping time, but once mailed, you'll usually get your custom within two to six weeks.
6) COMMISSIONING: Simply PM me or post on this thread what you want done, what you're willing to offer for recompense (a list of figures from which to choose is best, and they need not necessarily be
Star Wars figures but those are preferred), and I'll let you know if it's within my capabilities. If it is, we'll do business. If it isn't, at the very least, I'll try to recommend someone who
can do what you want.
Sound good? Cool beans.
