Custom cantina figure ideas

You can watch the rough cut of the cantina scene as an extra for Episode IV on Disney Plus. You can get a much better look at some of the humans and first aliens, like the Fly.
My two favorite pictures of my setup. 
Those pics are fan-freaking-tastic! Really captures the depth and how lively it is. And to have a whole large group of customs there that you made yourself must be awesome!

@Echo_Six made a comment last night around the close of the campaign that I thought offered some useful custom ideas, though focused on ways Hasbro could produce these figures. So I thought I'd clip and share it here to add to the collection:

They were reasonably priced compared to other customs I've seen available, though they'll take a little work and I'll have to sharpen my painting skills. I got Atheloe, Reegesk, Rycar Ryjerd and Yerka Mig. I'll start sharing progress photos of them in this thread after I receive them.
Although obviously not definitive versions, I think they'll do as placeholders until Hasbro produces them or I acquire some better customs, whichever comes first.

I used a very similar, if not same, kit for my Mos Eisley Reegesk. The one in my cantina is a pure custom.
That will probably be the first thing I do once I get him painted lol. I love that guy!
I recently repainted an old-style Bith to serve as Lirin Car'n. Since there's really only one photo of him floating around, I just painted his shirt and collar to match the shade in the pic and left the rest of him alone. I'm thinking of doing the same to an extra TVC Figrin that I have laying around. Would you do anything differently for a straight repaint? To me it looks like he's wearing a similar style shirt to the rest of the band but just with a different color.
I think that would be just fine. I put a Bith head on an Episode 2 Owen, but they are expensive. Also, the colors on my figure don't match the one in the film.
I could see putting a Bith head and hands on several different Obi-wan bodies, though you'd want one that could sit.
Got the figures today and couldn't wait to get started. First guinea pig, er, rat, is of course Reegesk!
So I was actually pleasantly surprised with how he turned out as this was my first time trying to do any detail work on a figure. There are a few spots where the paint rubbed when I was trying to put the legs on, so I'll have to try to touch that up. And the legs still aren't all the way on. I'll probably wait until after I varnish it all to put them on all the way.
Now, who's next?

A few pics of Reegesk after a little touch-up and varnish. I used the satin finish by Vallejo. I think it looks great, not too shiny or dull, kind of like an action figure. I'm happy with this guy.
And gave him a temporary spot in the cantina. Not sure where he actually goes so I'll have to look into that.
So this was my attempt at Yerka Mig. Huge difference with this guy. The hardest part, of course, was the face. I'm pretty happy with how the rest of him turned out but the face not so much. I ended up starting over and stripping most of the paint off at one point. This was using a flesh-colored base coat, then doing a reddish wash (wish really wasn't working very well. When it did actually stay in the crevices it was too thick, so I ended up soaking most of it up.) Then I tried alternating between painting the highlights and the darker parts and then using some blending. Meh. Yeah if anyone has any good 3.75" face painting tutorials I love to take a look lol.
On to Atheloe! Should be much easier lol

Like what you are doing there. I am not a painter, so I'm thinking maybe I can get someone I know that is capable to do some for me.
I determined there are a number of customs that just make sense instead of wondering if Hasbro will ever do them.... maybe in 30 more years.
I HAVE customs of Danz Borin, Spacer 1, Spacer 2, and Garouf Lafoe. Danz Borin uses Bossk with gloves and boots from Rum Sleg and BoShek's helmet. Spacer 1 and 2 are Planet of the Apes 5POA figures, but very background so it's not a big deal to me. One of them uses Rum Sleg's Helmet... which looks quite like the characters.

Thank you! Yeah, my painting is a little hit and miss but based on the prices I've seen on some of these customs I decided to do at least some of them myself. The base figures for these were $25 each so you can't really beat that. On a side note, that ReAction Astronaut Cornelius figure seems impossible to find. None on ebay and it won't even come up in a google search. It's almost like it's just a rumor, but I know people have used it for this very purpose. Really weird.
I plan on doing Rycar Ryjerd and Yerka Mig. I have some parts for them, but haven't yet started. For Rycar, I'm using Young Jedi Anakin for the body and Young Han from Solo jacket. With a little trimming and painting I think it will work.

I started and finished Atheloe yesterday! I'm very happy with how this one turned out. He's probably my favorite so far. Can't wait to spray some sealant on him tonight! Sorry for the poor lighting on some of them. Will get some better pics after sealing him.
Oh, and Yerka Mig almost met a very unfortunate fate last night lol. I was getting ready to spray sealant on him, shook up the can, pointed it above his head and start spraying. I'm moving the spray down toward him and I see a cloud of gray. Knew right away what happened and pulled my hand away at the last second. I thought for sure it got him but he miraculously survived unscathed!
Yeah, word to the wise, always make sure you can distinguish your primer from your sealant

Alright, Rycar Ryjerd is done and Atheloe has been sealed!
I did Rycar's face a little differently than Yerka. It was looking much better until I kept having issue with the left eye, having to continue touching up the skin tone and then the eyeball, rinse and repeat. It's still a little problematic but overall I'd say it looks better than Yerka.
On a side note, vividmotion on etsy, the guy who I got the kits from, has been very cool. I asked if there was a way to get an extra head for Yerka so I could try to do a better job, and not only is he sending me two more heads for free, but also a bonus figure! I told him I'd definitely be buying from him again as he has a few other cantina or Jabba-related items I'd like to get.

Great looking cantina patrons, that Rycard is outstanding!
Wasn't until I came here that I realized just how many background Cantina characters there were. Really nice work on all these obscure figures!
I was looking at some of my figures to get ideas for Boelo, as I plan on slowly working my way through cantina customs until Hasbro makes more of them, if they ever do.
I found I could actually get a halfway decent likeness just by using Jod Na Nawood and giving him the ammo pouches and hood from Teeka, with a few small cuts. Everything will still need to be re-painted.
I'd like to replace the arms with some that have flared sleeves, however, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how difficult this would be without damaging the joints, or if I should just consider them immobile at that point and glue them on, maybe using some small rods.
Any thoughts?
I also noticed in the one reference pic I could find that his bandolier seems to go over the top of one side of his robe but be tucked under the other side. And lastly since his coat also has pockets and looks a lot fancier than the cloth 'robe' or rags that Boelo seems to be wearing, maybe it would be better to just use a soft goods Jedi robe.
Any tips appreciated!
