Spidey, you've got to remove the pictures from this thread. Way too long to have to scroll thru.

Just post the name of the exclusive and the link to the website where it can be found. That will be more than enough and will keep this thread nice and clean.

I found it a lot easier just to scroll through and see the items straight away.

Some of those art prints are damn fine, some are just a bit strange though!

I removed the CIV print pictures. I'm going to put them on Photobucket maybe since that works better in my opinion. I kept the other pictures.

There was mention somewhere of a preorder for some of the exclusive items. you would just have to pick them up. If still available, what are they and what are the links?

I know it takes some looking but could all these noobies asking questions actually take the time to look them up? Go to GG Ltd, MR, Acme or SS. They all have the info you need about the exclusives. If you're a scalper shame on you...scalpers are scum...but lazy scalpers, man....

As long as they have enough on hand for me to get both on FC Thursday I'll be fine.

Yeah, too bad you have to pay just to preorder. I am a paying member of Gentle Giant's guild club and I'm glad they're opening up preorder to those who are just on their email list and aren't members only. Granted, it'd be nicer if the guild members could preorder first, but oh well...

Neither the Hasbro booth nor the StarWarsShop booth have released any info on a pre-order system.

As of now, we do not know whether or not they will be offering this option for their CIV exclusives.

glad I'm not going to try to get the Animated Style Fett. All I need/want from either of them are the figures and I'm sure there will be plenty of them to go around.

<crying baby> whaaaaaa whaaaa </crying baby> Dude, phulease. How many GG collectors would there be if they made 15,000 of everything? Collectors by nature enjoy the hunt and if everything were readily available for next to nothing either the vendors would go out of business or collectors would lose interest.

Instead of griping and moaning about exclusives being just that, exclusive, why not work on networking and making friends? That way even if you can't go to the con you could have someone pick up an item or two for you. This year I'm buying exclusives for two different friends of mine that can't go and if I couldn't go I know at least a half dozen people that wouldn't think twice about picking stuff up for me at cost.

[Edit - On a more positive note I wanted to publicly say thanks to SpideyMike for putting this list together. You rawk dude!]

For the record I'm also picking up some of the exclusives for a fellow scummer who can't make the celebration. Having friends helps.

You mean like Hasbro? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

The fact is that by making these things available to anyone who wants one the vendors make more money. Period. Yes, there are some morons out there who tie up their pathetic sense of self-worth to having a resin bust that most fans can't get, but frankly fandom is better off without those sort of people in its midst anyway.

And everyone still has an equal chance at purchasing one of the convention exclusives. Collecting is not for everyone, but anyone who is serious about it should do fine.

That logic would apply even if they released exclusives in an edition of one.

There are 500 BHS Lego maquettes IIRC. Are you saying there are only 500 serious collectors? Don't be silly.

Sure, but exclusive means only available here, not we're only gonna make a few and then laugh as people fight over them.
Half the exlcusives arn't even "exclusive" cause they do an internet order for people who can't attend. That doesn't make any sense at all. The point is that its a souvineer that you can only get at this show, that doesn't mean it sound be limited at all other than maybe 1 per attendee. Sure limited edition makes people want them more, but making people pissed off because nobody can get them isn't the way to do it. The whole point of the celebration is too have fun not get pissed off fighting over souvineers.

I'm a serious collector and I don't want one of those so there is one less serious collector for you to compete with; don't assume everyone is exactly alike and collect exactly the same things. For those who are serious about collecting the Lego maquettes, they are probably happy they are limited especially if they manage to snag one which adds to the satisfaction of actually getting one. If everything was common, I personally would be much less interested in acquiring them.

I think it is silly to be complaining about the nature of collecting while collecting.

Then for those who don't enjoy collecting limited items should refrain from buying them, and then they can still have fun with out a need to get upset over trying to collect the "souvenirs". If collecting isn't fun, just do something else; I'm sure they will also have all sorts of non-limited items to purchase as well.
