Today I forced myself to play around with toys.
First up, a thing of beauty.
It's the B-52's! All 52 of them.
I feel a bit guilty having so many, but I was worried Canada wouldn't get a restock and I didn't get enough of the normal version. I need a bunch for customizing.
Next up is another flying Rumbler. Wings and tail are from a dragon.
I'm playing around here with different legs. I'm not sure which ones I will use. I can also use the decimator claws or chop up the pincers from the rumbler to make claws (like my Garthim).
Below is my next vehicle I'm making.
It's a TMNT Grapplor I picked up at a thrift shop. The snapping claws mechanism doesn't work but I intend to take the whole thing apart and see what I can do. The "head" rotates but only by hand. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this feature as I will only be displaying it.
First up is with big wheels, like the Ravager behind it. Since it is a 2-seater, I'm thinking of giving it 2 tails. I'm also toying with the idea of taking 2 tails and chopping them up to make a longer tail, but that seems like a lot of work and when I articulated a tail, I was disappointed with the results.
Here are smaller wheels, but I don't like the look.
I thought giving it a third wheel, but again, I don't like it. I will probably chop off the legs of the Drones at the knees and attach them straight so they fit inside the vehicle (the calves and feet will definitely have to go though.)
I thought about giving it a Rumbler head to protect the drivers, but since there are 2 of them, I'm not sure if this will work. I will have to wait until I get some Venom drones and fit them in place. I think it will also interfere with the twin tails both physically and ascetically. Having just said twins, now I want to make the Dysads to use this.
I thought this might enhance the look, but will have to see later with the drivers and tails added.
I feel that the vehicle need the "Cyclops eye" weapon somewhere and the Synthoid fits in better than the Rumbler, and will distinguish this vehicle from the Ravager more.
The back looks more skull-like, but I think the "eye" is needed. Also, the Synthoid arm "eye" has a curve to it so it doesn't look good on the sides or mounted on front of the drivers.
I was playing around with different accessories to attach, but nothing thrilled me. I may use the Huntra double cannons on both sides.
Finally, I was playing with adding wings to a crawler. I didn't like the look when they faced out like on a Synthoid, but I'm not thrilled with how they are mounted here. One is mounted higher than the other. I may keep it that way, or mount them symmetrically.
I had to cut the circle ring so the wings would fit into the peg holes. If I don't use them on a crawler, I might use them as secondary wings on my flying Rumbler. I may also use one of them to make a head fin for my snake-staff (Amphistaff) that I made from a Godzilla figure. I ripped the wings off to use for my Flying Rumbler and immediately saw that the body would make a great staff for my Vong which is missing his.
